SEMI HIATUS NOTICE.

i hate that i have to do this, i really do, but i can’t change that i have to! i’m going to try and do at least one reply a day if i can manage but for the next week or so, i’ll be on semi-hiatus. i have no exact dates right now but, for the sake of making this a neat and organised, i’m going to say this is going to be a thing until 1st June, i.e; the rest of the month. if i can end it sooner, i’ll definitely say so but, currently, i have a lot of working piling up for class. basically, i needed an extension from my last block and the lecturer only informed us now that the deadline for those is this week and i’m still behind because i was trying to do stuff for my current class — and i’m behind on that too because my time management skills are next to non-existent. because of that, i want to try and do my best to catch up as quickly as possible, meaning i won’t be able to juggle multiple rp blogs. this semi-hiatus also applies to @dutymade & @stagedpride and the only blog to which is does not apply/the only blog on which i’ll stay fully active is @nightscaped. thank you!

There had been one cat picture too many (we’ll ignore that this number is very small and more than one at all is one too many) and so Zen had been left with no other choice. Blocking Jumin online was his only option! It doesn’t even matter that Jumin’s photo taking skills are questionable at best, Zen’s sinuses can sense a cat anywhere. “ I did it for my own health! ”

Oh! Quick note because I forgot to bring it up before but I generally don’t write pre-established relationships unless it has been discussed beforehand. I tend to keep by this rule on all my blogs but a lot of you are people who don’t follow my other blogs so this felt important to point out. Any pre-established stuff, barring that which has been plotted, will be reserved for characters with whom Zen canonically interacts in-game (RFA members, Echo Girl, etc) and, while I am very much OC friendly (and, as someone who primarily writes OCs, I do actually mean friendly as opposed to ‘i will tolerate ocs but take no interest compared to canons), I don’t tend to feel comfortable with OCs who are automatically tied or related to my muse without good reason (i.e; child OCs). If we are mutuals and your muse/OC has some distinct connection to Zen that means pre-established interactions are the only option, I’d rather I was approached for discussion before jumping into anything! It’s just easier for me that way because it will help me form good responses throughout our threads because, after all, this is my interpretation of Zen and I might come to the same conclusions another writer might.

This does also partly apply to people writing the MC, by the way! Because the MC is such a vague character, any interpretations of them are basically OCs and, although they do know Zen within canon, I’d prefer to plot/talking anything deeper out, rather than have anybody make assumptions about my version of Zen. You shouldn’t feel afraid to start interactions with me if you feel too nervous about approaching me out of character because it’s only really relevant where references to their relationship is concerned because I can’t really gauge what your MC thinks of Zen until you tell me. Casual threads don’t require preemptive discussion but I do not feel particularly comfortable having set relationship dynamics pushed on me, platonic, romantic or otherwise. This is especially true if you ship Zen with the MC because, honestly, I do not particularly ship them and do not find their romantic plotline to be the most interesting or important (and, honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of dating sims so I can’t say I was really playing MM for the romance). I am not opposed to shipping Zen with the MC but that depends heavily on the interpretation and how they’ve been written but I ask that people don’t come to me automatically expecting I be willing to write this ship, just because it’s technically canon in one route.

But, yeah, long story short; I don’t like writing pre-established stuff with characters Zen doesn’t canonically know without being asked beforehand (and don’t be afraid to ask, I don’t bite) & I won’t be automatically shipping with anybody because I’m a hellishly fussy shipper who doesn’t actually ship Zen with anybody in particular anyway. And, again, none of this is out of a lack of respect for OCs (as it also refers to any canon muse’s MM verse, if they have one) because I am an OC writer and this is my only canon muse. I promise that I do not value canons over OCs in any sense and I actually feel this way about all my muses (i.e; I do not feel comfortable with people forcing friendships or ships or whatever onto any of my muses).

Hopefully, this wasn’t a confusing read and I was clear enough about what I meant without sounding stuffy or strict! I’m an open-minded writer so please don’t feel afraid to ask any questions, I’m just trying to clear something up!

guess who has two thumbs and has just pulled through (at long bloody last) with a fully-coded, shiny custom theme? thiiiiiiiis guy! ᕙ( ~ . ~ )ᕗ it took me forever bc what in the world is an attention span anymore BUT!! i’m really happy with how it’s come out and, now that my blog is actually mostly finished being set-up (barring the obvious lack of bio at the minute), i’m determined to finally be active. i’ll be working on those starters as soon as i can (just not today bc i have a project plan to cram for class). in the meantime, how’s the theme look?

i don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or anything but i don’t believe that zen actually hates cats. is he allergic to them? obviously. does he generally dislike them? yeah, definitely, in that he definitely doesn’t enjoy being around them and he dislikes them enough to be confused by seven’s infatuation (although he seems to be generally confused by seven as a matter of principle). however, i think most of his ‘hatred’ is just a means of pissing jumin off because, let’s be real, zen is just that petty. 

the fact that you can lose hearts (this is probably clumsy terminology but bear with me) for saying nice things about cats definitely has a lot more to do with him getting jealous or something --- it’s not the fact the mc likes cats that bothers him, it’s that the mc is sticking up for jumin instead of him. if jumin didn’t love cats, i’m not sure zen would care about the mc’s opinions on the matter at all and, by extension, i’m sure he wouldn’t care if the (zen route) mc was like ‘nah, i was lying, i love cats’. if anything, he’d probably enjoy that because it meant they were deliberately sticking up for him even if they technically disagreed but i digress. similarly, his anger in response to jumin provoking him with cat pictures is probably a mix of genuine discomfort and (more importantly) him being annoyed that jumin is poking fun at him. it’s also important to remember that a lot of the dialogue is IM-based and therefore not always the most accurate in terms of representing a character’s feelings --- it’s not unusual over-exaggerate over text for the sake of humour. this idea is largely supported within the plotline of zen’s route and i do believe the choice to throw an advert for cat food, specifically, in there was deliberate. zen agreeing to do the advert was about him overcoming his issues with jumin so it’s likely that the whole cat thing was written to be a deliberate representation of that too.

furthermore, there are certain spaceship quotes that serve to support this, namely; ‘hmmm~ I wanna sing for elly’ and ‘would it have been better if I were allergic to dogs?’. the first, i assume, refers to elizabeth 3rd, who we know zen doesn’t actually hate (again cementing the idea it’s more of a jumin issue, not that i actually believe he hates jumin either). i don’t know why anybody would want to sing to a cat if they outright hated them. i don’t know why he wants to sing to a cat in general but hey. the second is pretty clear in its meaning too but i think both quotes, the second in particular, suggest zen laments his allergies and that he might even wish he weren’t allergic. 

i’m not suggesting that this is because he secretly likes cats because it’s probably more to do with the fact it would make things easier and, honestly, he might better understand the others (jumin & seven, to be specific) a little better for it. maybe he thinks they’re cute but the immediate allergic reaction (by association, where photos are concerned; he’s either exaggerating when he says that (again) or it’s a psychological response) is discomforting. anyway, long story short? zen’s allergies to contribute greatly to his apparent dislike of cats but i do think he exaggerates and that he doesn’t hate them half as much as he suggests. in the same way, he doesn’t hate jumin either and, again, he probably over-exaggerates a lot, likely as a means of defence (against what is an imagined threat in the form of jumin). he’s just annoying and likes fucking with jumin but doesn’t like when jumin tries to do same thing in return. zen can dish it out but he can’t take it.

MUSE PREFERENCES:

female or male: none, i like writing both equally. however, i do have more male muses right now (it’s a 3:1 ratio) original or canon: original! i just feel a lot comfier writing my own characters because 1) i love doing it and 2) there are no set expectations i have to reach. i have the freedom to explore the character as i like without disagreements. favorite face: .....kim jaejoong >:^) but only in the sense he’s my favourite to use aghgdgfhd (i probably wouldn’t interact with anybody using him for personal reasons) and kamenashi kazuya is a good second. as for fcs being used by other people? i have no favourites! whoever suits the muse! least favorite fc: uh, i don’t really know. probably the super overused crowd; anyone from supernatural, dylan o’brien & any of those identical blonde models who have pretty much the exact same face?? honestly, there are probably more but i try not to judge based on fcs too much unless their faces really annoy me. xiumin from exo, not that i’ve seen him used much. also, fcs being used for the wrong ethnicity is The Worst just,,,stop,,,pleAse,, multi or single: i don’t know what this applies to but, uh, i prefer writing single muse blogs bc i’m too disorganised for multimuse, i prefer writing single ship bc i like the coherence and i like multi-verse but i’m also picky about aus.

WRITING PREFERENCES:

fluff, angst or smut: i’m fine with all of these in moderation! fluff isn’t my strong point so i can’t write it all the time but it’s cute & i like it! i always get very into writing angst and i love writing/reading stuff that tugs at my heart but i also don’t like excessive angst or anything that tries too hard to be angsty (and i especially dislike shock!angst, i.e; people appropriating stuff like mental illness & r*pe & things like that for edge factor). i’m also fine with writing smut but only for a well-established ship that’s being written with a good friend. plots or memes: both! i suck at the early stages of plotting bc i can’t come up with good concepts the first time around but i get really into it when i get going! memes are fun too, though, because they can kick stuff off easily! long or short replies: for my own writing, i prefer to write longer stuff! however, i’m fine with threads of all lengths and, honestly, having nothing but long stuff to write burns me out. best time to write: the best time to write is whenever my brain decides it’s a good time to write. i have no set time of day. i prefer to write throughout the day whenever the inspiration comes. are you like your muse(s): i’ll keep to zen for the sake of relevance but not really. i don’t think so anyway? i mean, he doesn’t like cats. i can’t relate at all, sorry.
