“Best day ever” - June 9, 2013 - Twelve years ago today Stan saw his first bird, marking one of the most awesome days of his life to that point. As a further update, Stanfield passed peacefully and with dignity on May 25, 2025, providing relief from a sudden and irreversible drop in his quality of life. This account was created in part for sharing memories and memorializing Stan. Thank you for supporting Stanfield’s brief time on social media, he will be missed by all who knew him. We may provide additional memorial posts on this account in the coming days, and if friends and family would be interested, we may also post occasional throwback photos here as well. Stanfield’s test results are inconclusive regarding a cause of his illness, which was a reoccurrence of fluid build up in his lungs. Congestive heart failure was ruled out. While there is no evidence malignancy, it can’t be ruled out. We’ll be speaking with his veterinarian again tomorrow to discuss his results and to confirm the best next step, either toward recovery or to ensure dignity and peace. He’s resting comfortably, and receiving a lot of care and attention. And treats. And also, bacon, whenever he wants it.

Stanfield is very tired, a little anxious after two days in intensive care. His fluid build up was not due to congestive heart failure, prognosis still undetermined. We’ll be monitoring him closely and awaiting some test results tomorrow.

We have a sad update to share regarding Stanfield’s health. Two and a half years ago Stanfield suffered a serious case of congestive health failure and was not expected to live more than a few days. With additional care his condition surprisingly improved, and he has had two and a half years of relatively good health for a cat his age. Stanfield was admitted to emergency care yesterday with a reocurrence of congestive heart failure. While his condition is now stable, Stanfield also suffers from diabetes and stage 3 chronic kidney disease, which complicate his care. Given his multiple health issues, it’s possible his prognosis over the next day or days may suddenly change. This social media account was started in part to share select photos from twelve years worth of Stanfield’s life with friends and fans. Should Stanfield lose his battle with his latest health issues, we may continue to post photos in his memory on this account if there is interest from his friends to do so. Happy first day of Spring! Today also marks the anniversary of Stanfield’s adoption. Twelve years ago, a four-month-old white kitten stumbled out of a pet carrier into a new home, and into the hearts of a new family and friends. Rescued in Ottawa, Ontario, Stan’s adoption almost didn't occur. When pick-up occurred he was mistakenly listed as being promised for adoption to someone else. Inquiring further, it was just miscommunication, the “someone else” was us. Stanfield cried during the full 30-minute car ride home but on arrival, he explored excitedly before falling asleep in the arms of a new family. #catsoftheworld #cat #cute cats #cats #cats of tumblr #pets #kitty #white cat #tbt #throwback #spring
