Bracelet Bond
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Currently, you are on your fourth attempt at making a bracelet. Most of them have come out as half-successes mostly because of how frayed they looked, you were absolutely not giving any of those out to anyone. It almost feels like a total insult.
Over and under, then wrap it and soon you had another completed bracelet added on to the pile. This one, however, was much much better than the previous ones. You had a tutorial up on your ipad that actually helped a lot with how to do it well without making the string too tight or too loose on the beads. The bracelet was in the color of a certain classmate. It was mostly black with some spotted purple beads that had gold bead stoppers with every 3-4 beads with an unknown black bird chain hanging on to the middle of the bracelet, farthest away from the ends. In your own opinion it was beautiful, one of the best things you've ever made! It even beats that one paper mache crown you made back in 4th grade.
You had to admit that finishing a single bracelet made you kind of exhausted. Maybe it's the excitement of finishing one. Now you don't feel like making any more. You decided now was a good time to stop and take a break, sweeping up the leftover beads into a dedicated box you bought just for this kind of occasion. You stretched before making your way to the front porch leaving your stuff in the living area for now, taking only the finished bracelet with you. It's not like there were any thieves in the dorm and if there were any discrepancies Mr. Aizawa would straighten it out for you.
The wind was just right today, the breeze flew through you with a gentle sway. You looked up at the sky, it was so wonderful and clear out today. You should’ve done your work out here, though it could've been ruined just from the wind.
Just as you were starting to settle into the breeze a certain flock of birds dropped by.
“Hey, we’re here.” Hawks, from what you can tell from the distance, said. He was facing away from you but you were sure that was him with the red wings on his back. In front of him must be Tokoyami. You approached them as they talked.
“Hey guys! Good work today.”
“Y/N, it's been a while hasn't it?” Hawks said to you, giving you his award winning signature smile.
“It has!” you smiled back at the older man.
You turned away from Hawks and greeted Tokoyami, “Tokoyami, here this is for you.” You said, bringing out one hand, reaching out for Tokoyami and placing the bracelet into his palm before shutting it.
“Well, that's all from me. I’ll see you inside Tokoyami?”
He doesn’t look at you but he nods signaling that he did hear your words. You eagerly left the scene as you didn't want to embarrass yourself further by sticking by and seeing how the two reacted up close.
Instead you headed back inside and looked out the window. Hawks looked like he was saying something to Tokoyami that made him say something back in return, in a more exaggerated tone, you thought. The wild hand gestures seemed to suggest so.
You don't believe that it was that big of a deal. I mean, maybe it was for boys to get a simple gift?
You decided that it would be best not to linger on the topic and went back to bracelet making, there were still so many that needed to get done before everyone else started to trickle in, so you had to hurry it up!
Only minutes passed by as you watched the tutorial once more trying to get the next bracelet down to perfection when Tokoyami stepped back inside the dorm, you smiled, waving before going back to bracelet making.
It seemed like he went back to his room, as you didn't feel his presence in the lounge as you worked any longer. You went a few hours playing with string, finally finishing at least 5 or 6 that you felt like you could give to the others. Some of your classmates were coming back one by one, some greeting you as they rushed through the door, while some just headed straight up to their rooms, and then there were some who came back from their rooms after. Koda was one of those people.
He asked you if he could help in any way as this was something he liked to do for his animal friends, gladly you agreed to it. And he was really REALLY good at it. He taught you so many different techniques to make more unique bracelets and even brought out his own bead stock, with so many different kinds of beads inside.
“Thank you so much for the help Koda!”
He nods enthusiastically, even though he wasn't quite used to talking to you it was always such a pleasure to be around him.
(Line here)
It was a sunny day out, the weather has been perfect for the past few days now. You hoped it would stay that way for your patrol today, it was going to be tough work, especially since you would be working with Hawks' team.
You knew that the man was just far too fast, no one would be able to catch up to him even if he was taking it easy, and so 'patrol' today would be more like clean up than actually doing any of the work.
One thing you did like about this was that you got to hang out with Tokoyami! After the day you gave him the bracelet he's been much more cordial with you, one of the most notable examples you could think of was of him nodding his head when you entered the room but there were a lot of other things that started to change with him, it was like you could feel his presence more than before.
Your chest always started to feel warm when he gave you some attention. But despite that the two of you didn't really talk all that much, you wanted to change that today.
Hawks gave the order for the team to take a break which was seconded by your mentor and they decided to chat with Hawks while you regained your bearings. Seeing this as your opportunity you walked over to Tokoyami who hid himself in the shade of an over arching roof.
"Hey, Tokoyami." You greeted him with the warmest smile you could muster. He simply smiled and nodded in your direction, beckoning you over to stand by his side.
"So," you started, "how'd you like the bracelet?" You tried to sound nonchalant about it but you worried about how he thought of it, it was the first one to be finished after all, and you put a lot of thought into that specific piece.
"It is a wonderful piece, measurable to an artisan's craft. Thank you."
You blushed, his compliments always came off as quite old-fashioned but it was what gave it charm and held so much more power over you over any little compliment anyone would say.
"I don't think its anything special…" you said, trying to deflect the compliment as the redness of your face worsened.
He shook his head, "it may not be that much to you but… such apparel is, more than adequate."
You didn't understand what he meant but you brushed it off, instead you let yourself be swept away by a different topic that came into your mind. The longer the break went on the more energizied you felt. Although you were mostly the one talking throughout your conversations with Tokoyami he would have a very thoughtful reply every once in a while that left you pondering over his prior words which blossomed into speech that left your mouth.
"It's go time fellas!" Hawks said intrupting your conversation. You nod, motioning Tokoyami to follow you.
However before you could make it past Hawks he put his hand on your shoulder, physically stopping you, "and before we go, I've gotta tell you now that you should give Tokoyami more gifts like that. Just so you know."
He winks and speeds off into a different direction.
Tokoyami groans but mutters under his breath, "an anklet would suffice…"
You giggle, "an anklet it is."
You mentally noted; once you were back in the dorms you were going to look up an anklet design that would look good on Tokoyami.

BIRD HEAD IS GONE! Over.
Chapter 1
Trying smth new with this one! Not sure if it'll stick but I did have fun. This will be a few chapters long so there will be more soon. For a better experience I think Ao3 might be the better site to read this from
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a super random day on your not so busy schedule when you got a text message from an old classmate from middle school. Tokoyami Fumikage, a name that hadn't popped up in years, reappeared as the very top of your notifications at 2am.
It had been a while since Tokoyami had talked to you, that last being a few months after graduation when you knew he had been training for the UA high entrance exam and after a while you just kinda phased out.
You didn't want to deal with it right now and were about to head back to bed for your early shift tomorrow but your phone just kept on flashing as one new text after another kept showing up.
Frustrated by the constant flash you picked up your phone and opened the message. The messages swapped between frantic and slightly less frantic and more flowery and poetic style that you recognize to be more of Tokoyami's style, you could guess that the other person would be his companion Dark Shadow.
However different their styles were their message was clear— they wanted to meet someplace and soon.
You wanted to respond to their texts immediately, say yes, say you wanted to meet up as well, but you just couldn't trust your brain to make a proper decision right now. You pondered for a while, to sleep or not to sleep— that is the question. Leaving him on read would send a bad impression, can't mess this up you literally haven't seen this guy in ages!
Well— you have seen him, just not in person. It'd be hard not to notice the massive billboards of up and coming proheros, plus the national charting that came every year. Last year, his debut alone skyrocketed him up to no.7!
You bit your lip, going against your moral code of letting your brain think for you at such a late hour you sent him a quick message telling him that you were free tomorrow afternoon and to meet at a local coffee shop near your workplace.
He responded almost immediately, the message was short but you could tell he seemed to genuinely be relieved that you agreed. This gives you a somewhat satisfied feeling in your chest, making sleeping feel easier.
It was the afternoon after your shift, this morning the knot in your stomach didn't seem to feel like that big of a deal, nothing a little stomach medicine couldn't handle. But as time went by and as the hour began to close in on you it kept getting worse and worse.
Begrudgingly you made your way to the shop, you made a promise and you weren't going to break it. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?
You opened the door, it greeted you with a jingle of the bell. This was where you would usually come to after-work, you thought that perhaps if you set it someplace you were familiar with you wouldn't be so nervous. Turns out, it doesn't work like that.
Scanning the room you couldn't find him anywhere, it was a small shop with so few people inside for what seems to be the down hour, there was no way you could miss him at all.
Maybe Tokoyami had a sense for when you were feeling frustrated, as at that moment when you were about to give up and sit at one of the booths closest to the door your phone buzzed to life. A message dawned on the screen.
'The booth at lane's end is where you may find me'
With this clue you marched your way to the booth where you did in fact spot a hint of black, eager to see your friend after a long while, you walked over in a hurry. But when you approached you were surprised to find an incredibly attractive man sitting there instead.
That isn't to say that Tokoyami wasn't attractive himself— no, it's just— this man had a human face, not the bird head you were expecting. The man seemed to sense your confusion and spoke.
"Apologies," He said calmly, his voice seemed familiar but you couldn't place your finger on where you had heard it before. "It seems I failed to forewarn you of my dilemma. Nevertheless I am fortunate enough that you came."
His voice sent shivers down your spine, it was like honey dripping down your throat, to which it left you struggling for air as you failed to mutter a word in. An uncomfortable silence was left hanging in the air. He coughs into his hand and calls your name, surprising you.
"I suppose I should reintroduce myself, I am Tokoyami Fumikage."
"What."
Some time had passed and your shock slowly came to an end. The two of you sat together in the booth in complete silence, your order of coffee sat on the table untouched as you thought of what to say next.
There was much to say yet you weren't quite sure how... to word it. There had been no news of this yet, the Jet-Black Hero Tsukuyomi had a human head. Perhaps he was keeping it under wraps for now? You supposed you could start with that.
You asked him, muttering it out like you were afraid the words would come and bite you back if you said it too loudly.
"A handful of nights past, a villain had seized the advantage, and thus, I find myself in this predicament." He took a sip of his order, you found it slightly strange to find him without a straw to drink from.
He continued on, "I came to ask you for a favor."
"..Yes." You nodded your head, whatever it was that he needed help with you wouldn't mind it at all.
He took a slow breath in, suddenly feeling like a December night's cold breeze had wafted through you. Hugging your arms tightly, you braced yourself for what he could say.
"Allow me to court you for a season."
His face was flushed, like full on red, you never would've realized that such a serious guy like him would be such a blusher, it's most likely because of how his face was hidden under all of those feathers. The flush was pretty cute though...
You thought it over. Confusion riddled across your face as you tried to understand where this was coming from. Tokoyami was a guy who thought of things rationally. There was no way he didn't have a reason for asking you to date him, especially when you two haven't spoken since middle school's end. So you asked him, why?
"Evidently, my visage differs from its usual state, attracting considerable attention. I ask that you accompany me socially, or to say, to allow me to romance you, thereby alleviating the constant women thrusting themselves upon me." You could tell that he was quite nervous, probably concerned of what you would say to his proposal. You could surely say it sounded skeptical, a man who sounded just like your friend but doesn't look like him suddenly asks you to date him for a while— a while that you're not sure when it ends.
But... if this was truly your friend you couldn't just say no.
Looking at his current state he looked... quite handsome. You thought— before this you remembered him to be quite attractive in his own way, but his human face... almost made him look beyond what you chose to believe before.
In place of his beak was a nose that seemed more European than east Asian, making him stand out from the crowd. His eyes were quite similar to how it was before, the sharpness that mixed well into his facial structure still ever present. But the thing that really made you rethink the entire reason why you were even here was his hair, it was slicked back the same way his feathers did but with his face it was just really attractive. If he smirked you honestly believe that you and many others would fall victim to it.
After a long pause you sigh, Tokoyami seemed to have pricked up from the sudden movement.
"For how long?" You asked, leaning closer to him as if you were negotiating a deal with a potential client for your company.
"Huh?" He stared at you with shock, probably surprised that you had considered it.
"How long do you need me to help you?" You asked him again.
"As long as the quirk is in effect."
You paused again before nodding. "Okay then, I'll help you."
He breathed a sigh of relief, a soft smile evident on his lips, it made you smile too. He thanked you profusely and asked you to follow him to his agency. You got up and followed him to the door, but before the two of you could exit the building a young woman had opened it before you, as she looked to see the figures in front of her, her gaze landed on human-faced Tokoyami and quickly averted them softly giggling to herself as she passed by the two of you.
Tokoyami just sighs and pressed on. He looked at you and smiled, his eyes creased in a way that made it seem softer in contrast to the sharp stare you were used to seeing on his face.
He addressed you, taking your hand and lacing his fingers with yours. "Shall we head off, love?"
This was actually going to be much more dangerous than you anticipated.

Note
Entirely understandable with the whole vamp thingy, Tokoyami's whole gothic vibes thing always made me think he'd be the vampire hunter or the hunted.
Anyway, I had alternative idea. Since it is Fumi and Shadow what about a werewolf thing where Tokoyami becomes Dark Shadow at night (Still hangin onto Beauty and the Beast, it's my favorite Disney movie). He's all like "I become a horrific monster under the moon, lock yourself away and don't come from your room lest you are attacked while I cannot save you." Then when reader's all like 'screw that, I wanna see the beast' they're met with a seven foot tall puppy.
OOOO I reeeeally like that, yes! Gonna get a little Beauty and the Beast meets Swan Princess action: cursed prince who has a permanent 'monstrous' look, plus a little bonus transformation by moonlight. You know he's got TOMES filled with dramatic poetry over his situation.

Half a Sorrow
Reader x Cursed!Tokoyami (+ Dark Shadow alter ego)
Your village gave you to the beast, fully expecting you to be eaten. And you wouldn't have been the first; an entire hunting party had disappeared the night of the harvest moon. Since then, the creature had been spotted almost every night, skulking about, startling livestock and stealing crops. Eyes of cold, cold gold could be seen gleaming hungrily from just beyond the reach of the lanterns and torches.
One night, a man you'd scorned claimed that the beast's gaze lingered on you. Frantic with fear, the rest were quick to agree, to find something, anything, that provided the barest hope of sating that monster. The laughing sliver of a crescent moon leered down as they called for your sacrifice.
The next night, you were fed to the inky, living dark of the forest, with not even the moon to keep you company or light your path. All you could do was wander, trying to find shelter but knowing it was more likely that you would be found.
~~~
It was a new moon; not that you could tell by looking up at the sky laden with heavy clouds. No moon, no stars; even your lantern barely shone against the oppressive night. Still you trudged on, hoping to find a hut, a cave, anywhere to hide before that mysterious beast caught wind of you.
When you looked up through a break in the trees, and saw two specks of gold high above you, you gasped so hard that your lungs instantly ached. The lantern fell from your hand, disappearing when the little light within died, but you remained frozen, daring not to look away.
Only, the eyes did not seem to look back at you. Or move at all. And you realized, they were not the eyes of a beast, but illuminated windows upon a great stone tower. A building. Other people. Safety.
Somewhere behind you, a branch snapped and snapped you right out of reverie. Forgetting the lantern, you tore forth, running with blind abandon towards where you saw those beautiful guiding lights, and away from whatever was after you.
Though branches and thorns clawed at you, trying desperately to hold you in the woods, you finally broke past the treeline. From what you could see, the structure was massive; not just a tower, perhaps an old fort, or even a castle. Whatever it was, it continued to stare down at you.
You ran until your hands met the stone wall, then you followed, sniffling and desperate and too terrified to look back, until stone became wood beneath your hands. Your hands which you then pounded against the door. You wanted to scream for help, but you were too winded, and your voice was barely audible as you pleaded, "please answer please please-"
At long last, the door opened. And behind it was a strange thing. Something that, under any other circumstances, might frighten you away.
The man was rather short, appearing even smaller with a lean build. He was well dressed too, perhaps noble. His eyes were red as fresh blood and shone even without light. And, his head was that of a bird, with a curved yellow beak and a crest of long, jet black feathers.
Yes, under most circumstances you would want no part of this abode or its bizarre master. But in this case, inside you only saw a man with the head of a blackbird; outside could be anything. So you half shoved your way inside, stumbling onto the plush carpet of the entryway where you curled into yourself and shivered.
You were shaking, tongue frozen in fear, so he gave up on an interrogation. Instead, he coaxed you to your feet, and led you in. Deeper down the throat of the entryway you were taken, into a sitting room where he set you in an armchair with a high back and intricate, faded embroidery.
You heard the slow creak and click of the closing door, then felt a slim hand on your shoulder. "Are you...alright?" His voice was unexpectedly deep, and coarse as if from lack of use. "Who are you?"
The strange man went about lighting more candles, as you tried to regain your breath and your nerves. Finally, he dropped into another seat across from yours, and spoke again. "Are you alone?"
"Y-yes," you answered in a shaky voice.
"Hm. You may rest here awhile, if you need shelter."
A relieved sigh left you. "I cannot thank you enough, sir." He gave you an odd look, so you tried again. "Lord?"
A pretty, rumbling chuckle emanated from his chest. "No need for titles. Fumikage."
You made a point to look into his ruby eyes, if only to stop yourself from staring at the feathers and beak. With no polite way to ask what he was, you instead questioned how quiet the place seemed. "Who else lives here?"
"Besides myself, no one."
"This is such a grand place, how can you manage it all on your own?"
"The castle keeps itself," he answered cryptically. "That is all you need to know. Just be careful should you choose to wander the halls. It is easy to become lost. And the walls don't like everybody."
It made sense, oddly enough. The place was quiet, but not still. It felt like the walls themselves breathed. You nodded, deciding that the less you knew of whatever spell or haunting affected the place, the better. "It seems safer than out there, at least," you murmured, and hoped it was true.
"You seemed desperate to get inside. Were you being pursued? I saw nothing behind you."
"I thought I might have been...there's something out there. It goes near m-my village sometimes, at night. This, creature, like a great living shadow-"
"That beast only hunts by moonlight. You were fortunate. This night is dark, but holds no danger for you. The next will not be so gentle. You must return home to your village by then."
"I cannot!" You protested. The avian man silently considered you, so you continued. "I was sent away. They believed, that, if I were given to that creature, it might leave our village in peace."
"Why you?"
"I don't knowww," you lamented, pent up tears beginning to brim, much to your host's discomfort. "It happened so suddenly, I couldn't bring anything with me, I don't know where to go, I don't know what to do!"
"I am, sorry-," he began regretfully.
"I-if I remained here, I could serve. Keep tidy, cook, whatever is needed!"
"if you were to remain, remains you would become, for it is not safe here," he stated, refusing to humor your plea. "It lurks here, too."
"Here? This castle?" You glanced around, half expecting those gleaming eyes to suddenly appear from a corner or behind a curtain.
"Imprecisely." Fumikage placed a hand over his left breast. "Here, is where it sleeps."
Realization knocked you back in your seat. "You...are-?"
He sighed. "So you understand why I cannot play the gracious host, though I gladly would if I could ensure your safety."
"...Would it be safer?"
"Hm?"
"There are a thousand things to fear in the forest and beyond. Within these walls, there is only one great danger, and I only need fear it less than half the time." He stared evenly at you with those stern, unreadable red eyes. So you continued to plead. "Is there no way to keep the beast at bay?"
"...it is something we may discuss in the morning."
~~~
Though you expected to be kept awake by your fears and doubts, sleep easily overtook your exhausted body. On the other hand, your host spent the night tormented. The longing for companionship seemed too selfish a reason to let you stay. So he reasoned, against his better judgement, that as long as he could exploit the creature's weakness, you would undoubtedly be safer with him than out in the wide cruel world.
"You may stay," he told you over breakfast; steaming bowls of oatmeal dressed with thinly sliced apples. Before you could thank him too hastily, he continued, "-but only on the condition that you keep to your room at night. I believe I have a way of keeping the beast from getting in. You should be safe, for as long as you choose to stay."
~~~
Your door was flanked by sconces, bathing the hall entry in impenetrable light. The window was secured such that it may never open again, barred and sealed with paint, that the candles on the sill could not blow out as they burned in nightly vigil.
The reflection of the flames pretended to linger just outside; sometimes, you would see two extra flames burning gold beyond the glass. They looked back at you, and this time you knew they were looking directly at you.
The first half month, you kept to the shadows, hiding under the covers like a child as the thing tried to watch you from the window. The moon was full when you first heard its voice like a grackle coming from the hall.
"Why are you hiding? It's so lonely in the dark."
You hesitated, making your way to the door as the rumbly voice beckoned.
"We know you're close. We smell you. We just want to hear you."
"...that's all?"
A gleeful chirruping sound echoed through the hall. "Yes! Talk to us!"
"I can't talk long. I need to go to sleep soon."
"That's okay. It doesn't have to be for long, we just want the company."
And so, you humored the beast. It was a brief conversation, weariness soon taking you over as promised, but it did not seem to mind. When you bid them good night through the door, the creature agreed,
"Yes, it is!"
~~~
As time wore on, the eeriness of the castle no longer bothered you. The way the enchanted walls and garden seemed to breathe felt less like living in the belly of a beast, and more like the comforting purr of a cat to her kits. A promise of sanctuary.
And at the core of that safe feeling was Fumikage. He would greet you each morning with a look of relief, pleased that his worse half had not prevailed. Time made conversation easier, sowed trust between the two of you, and, eventually, gave you the confidence to ask a question that had been gnawing at you.
"Fumikage, if this...thing is caused by some spell, will it ever wear off? Or must it be somehow broken?"
"If only it were," he sighed. Noting your confused expression, he explained. "A spell can be broken. This is a curse. It can only spread and be thinned, but never broken. And I could not wish this affliction on another."
"You're cursed?"
He nodded matter-of-factly. "Mhm. Twice-cursed, actually. The lunar shadow is my own, but my visage is a familial curse. I'm certain you've noticed."
"Ah, yes, it just, seemed it would be rude to bring up." You added hastily, "you have lovely, er, plumage though. At least."
Fumikage tilted his feathered head, then snorted with amusement. "True, at least I've that."
When asked, you told him the beast had not bothered you, which was true. It simply manifested by the door to chat each night, your voice alone easing its starvation for companionship. There was a comfort, too, in it bidding you good night, every night, before you retired and went to sleep.
Although you didn't tell Tokoyami of this little ritual, he still seemed suspicious. "You must ignore it if it ever does try to get to you. Anything you give it, it will want more."
"I understand."
~~~
On your second full moon spent in the castle, the voice called to you as it had each moonlit night for the past month. But after the initial pleasantries, it became cloying. "Will you open the door? We love your voice so much, we hear you, but we want to see you clearly, too."
Against warnings and your better judgement, you obeyed. The light was a stronger shield than the flimsy door anyway, at least to this shadowy beast. It held fast as the thing twittered and danced in the dark with delight.
You could hardly make out its shape, if it had one. Or, rather, all it had was shape. It mostly had a form like Tokoyami's, but bigger, and featureless. Just sketchy, writhing dark, and those eyes boring into yours.
Finally, those eyes seemed readable. The mysterious glare they once held was replaced with a warm, adoring glow. Several moons would pass before it made a new demand.
~~~
Your love was in full bloom with the first spring flowers. New life writhed and buzzed around you. The noticeable lengthening of days even seemed to put Tokoyami in better spirits.
He sat with you out in the courtyard most days, finally lured out of his self imposed prison. Sometimes he would read to you as you dozed beside him, floating on the velvet timbre of his voice.
Today he was tired; the worm moon the night before had been difficult. His voice was sore, but you didn't tell him it was because the beast spent the night bleating and begging and barking to be let in.
You just set, letting him rest his head upon your lap. The sunlight warmed his dark feathers pleasantly. You touched them gently, as he shut his eyes and opened his mouth to let out some of those agonies he had long been choking on.
"I fear I will harm someone, when I am that thing. That the wretched evil in my heart will grow too hungry and devour the world."
"It couldn't," you tried to reassure him. Yet he found the feel of your fingers coming through his feathers far more calming than your well-meaning words. "Besides, it is repelled by the light. It could hardly consume everything."
"It might devour you. That would be the same thing."
~~~
You never humored the creature's attempts to break in. So, one night, under the full moon's wide-eyed gaze, it tried something else.
"We see you." It stated, reaching out something that almost resembled a hand. "But we also want to touch you."
"I have to stay inside, sweet shadow. You know this."
"Not far! You don't have to go far! We've never even held your hand!" It lamented.
"We've held hands."
The shadow seemed to grow, sputtering with agitation. "Not I. He loves you, and you love him, but we love you too! Why can't we love you too?!"
Its pleas were earnest, frighteningly so. Enough that you came close to obeying. "I...need time, to think about it. Good night."
For a fortnight, the visits continued, and while it did not ask again, its moodiness was apparent. But you were patient, and cautious. You let the moon and the beast's power wane before you dared heed that request.
It was small. Smaller, anyway. You could almost make out Fumikage's shape within the shadow, if the light shone just right. It clung to his body like a caul, a membrane sealing your love away til the moon made her way past.
You looked at the docile beast standing in the hall, and asked, "do you still wish to touch me?"
"More than anything," it answered, the undercurrent of Fumikage's real voice stronger in this phase.
"Alright." It watched intently as you took a tentative step beyond the door. And as you reached out a hand, it mirrored your actions, until your fingers sunk into the liquid dark and grasped the slender digits hiding within.
~~~
Tokoyami was confused when he woke in the hall, cradled by a gentle touch. You were still asleep, leaning against the wall across from the safety of your room, with only the barest protection from the ambient light of the sconces.
He lay in your lap, as he did in the garden, but it was wrong, if it was here then that meant you had made yourself vulnerable to that horrid thing that he choked on each day and drowned in each night.
He was confused. And then he was frightened. And that gave rise to anger.
"What were you thinking?!" Fumikage finally exclaimed, after several minutes of pacing swiftly between your window and door. Meanwhile you sat at the edge of your bed, equally ashamed and exasperated.
"I felt it wouldn't harm me-"
"It could have!"
"I didn't say it couldn't! But it wouldn't. It's still..."
"Still what?" The question was sharp.
"You. Still you, at its core."
"I am not that thing."
"No. But it is part of you. And I wish to love every part of you."
Fumikage had no answer for that, aside from his feathers bashfully standing on end. You stood, gliding over to him, gliding your hands over the wild quills to make them lie smooth again.
"Please, Fumikage."
"...if it is part of me, it is an ugly part, an evil part. I cannot ask you to love that."
"And I cannot claim to love you while scorning some of you." Your fingers danced through his feathers again, tracing a path down his cheek, to under his beak so you could lift his chin to make him look at you. "Besides, it's not really evil. Just a bit odd. And it only looked frightening when I didn't know it; it was never ugly in the least."
"I feel, selfish for this...this desire to let you love me entirely, as I do you. To put you in harms way only because I cannot bear to be apart."
"I promise, you are not," you assured him, sliding your arms over and around his shoulders in a secure embrace. "Or else, we both are."
You felt his beak nuzzling and nibbling below your jaw, his hands pawing along your back in near desperation. With a contented hum, you took careful steps backwards, pulling him closer to the grand canopy bed that had felt too big and too empty for too long.
You shared your bed that moonless night, between two days of sharing your body. And when the second night drew near, Fumikage stayed.
~~~
For the first time, you watched as the moon's curse overtook your beloved. It wrenched your heart to see him look so frightened, knowing that nearly every night came with such a terrible apprehension.
So you took his hand, feeling it tighten as the shadows seeped from every pore, cloaking his slight body. Consciousness left him with an agonized cry that became a feral howl as the beast took control.
It stared down at you, still and unblinking, those golden eyes warm with familiarity. You had to reach up to cup its face, like plucking a perfectly ripe apple from a branch just within reach. It let you pull it near, until the beak-like face was even with your own. "Make me like you," you whispered, and pressed your lips to the void of its mouth in the gentlest of kisses.
Shared joy is twice joyous, shared sorrow is half sorrowful. That was your reason. Let us multiply our joy by day. Let me cut your burden in twain by night.
You felt it press past your lips, a liquid warmth that crept down your throat, radiating through your chest, filling your belly. You drank of his madness and it was sweet.
When you parted, you felt amorphous, but present. When you reached out to touch him, your hands were traces of dancing shadow. And when he took your umbral hands in his, the gesture was purposeful, calm.
The beast still shrouded him, watching you with the kind of intent gaze only a feral creature can achieve. But they were both here. The vicious instinct tempered, if not tamed.
You could feel it in yourself as well, and wondered what kind of monster now lived within you. It must look like him, you supposed, as his Shadow stretched to preen at your head, or, what covered it. Such a strange feeling, to be skin within a skin. But not terrible. Not like it had been for him all these years. And for that, you were happy to help shoulder the burden.
There was joy in this, too. He swept away and pulled you along, crashing easily through the window and taking flight, your formless forms dancing above the trees together. Free, but not mindless. Wild, but not a danger to the harmless.
And so it was.
A curse, not broken, but cut.
And two shadows, flying entwined through the moonlit night.
Prom Night
Tokoyami Fumikage x reader
Here’s to another one! I made this in 2 hours today because i noticed the lacking amount of fics he has these days and the rot is insane. Hope y’all enjoy your food!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a rather cold night, all around you 3rd years such as yourself are partying and living out their last few days as students of U.A. soon you’ll be out there looking for…. A job. The most dreaded part of any student's life. Luckily for you a certain hero had given out an offer to you, saying that once you’d graduated they’d happily take you in as one of their own. But back to the present. Right now you were waiting on your date, you’d gone into the hall together, he even waited for you in front of your house and everything. It was all good and you two were chatting just nicely before he found his friends on the other side of the room and told you to wait right here by the punch bowl for him. Of course, being the nice person you are, you waited. But it's already been an hour since he said that and now you’ve completely lost sight of him. It was depressing sure, and you look like a total loser but like who gives a damn anymore. You’re gonna keep drinking punch and blowing steam till the end of the night if that's what’ll keep you going!
Well that was the plan before a large booming voice echoed through the entire hall.
“Aaaaaalllrrighhhhtt!” Present mic stood there on stage doing this really dramatic pose as he hyped the crowd up. “We’re nearing the end of the night, so we’re encouraging everyone to the dance floor!!”
A large majority of the students cheered as the music began to blast even louder, many entering the dance floor until it was jam packed with students. Eventually you decided to join in thinking maybe you’ll find your date in the crowd.
Suddenly the night wasn't as cold as you thought, the warmth of everyone’s bodies colliding into your own making a sort of kotatsu kinda feel. It was like pure bliss, if it weren't for the constant shoving.
Soon less and less people were on the dancefloor, but you somehow still couldn't find him. You huff, I guess this was all for nothing.
“Y/N?”
You look behind you and see Tokoyami standing there, behind him was Dark Shadow who waved at you enthusiastically. Tokoyami was from Class 3-A. Unlike you who was from Class 3-B, he was pretty cool. You've only talked to him a couple times before in the past but that was always with Kuroiro and Komori around.
“Tokoyami hi,” you waved at the pair, walking towards them slowly you said, “uhm, have you seen Daremo anywhere?”
“I believe I saw him leaving the premises a while ago.”
“Oh…” of course he had. You knew this would happen eventually, Daremo never has the best track record of being at school or even being around at all unless it interested him. You just thought that maybe he actually did want to do this and was interested in going further. You didn’t expect him to ditch you just as the going got good.
How naive of you to think he was actually going to stay. It's not like you two were dating anyways you just so happened to be someone he knew that didn't have a date to go with.
“Aw, Y/N don't look so down!” Dark Shadow tried to cheer you up. “You look so wonderful in your fit. It’d be a shame to ruin your night thinking about a guy who ditched you!”
Tokoyami nods, “Dark Shadow has a point. Perhaps… you would like to spend the rest of your night amongst our presence?” He offers out his hand for you to take.
You giggled, his way of speaking has always been something you liked about him. It was a gentle and genuine tone that you often felt compelled to. It was just that, he was kind of intimidating to approach.
You have to admit though, the prospect is tempting.
“I’d love to, Tokoyami. That would be wonderful.” You smiled at him. Taking his hand into your own. Tokoyami was only a tad taller than you, reflecting his hand size. Lots of girls like when their boy’s hands were bigger than their own but you thought it was cute how your hands were almost the same size.
Suddenly the music stopped, mamma mia that had been playing in the background was replaced with the voice of Present Mic once more.
“Alright, my soon to be independent members of society! We’re gonna start playing slow songs, so get your loved ones and dance till your feet fall!”
”Oh, they're going to be playing slow songs from now on.’ You thought. You hesitated and started to pull your hand away but Tokoyami catches the shift in your behavior and tugs you closer.
“Shall we?” He says, his eyes stared intensely. He wasn't going to back down, you were sure of it.
If he wasn't going to back down you weren't either. You say nothing, instead pressing yourself closer and placing your hand on his shoulder. You hear a slight trill come out of his mouth, a smile formed on his feathered face.
You began to sway to the rhythm, surprisingly you two stayed in rhythm with one another along with the music very easily.
“You’re really good at this.” You said to him, he thanked you, feeling the grip of his hand on your waist tighten made you believe that he appreciated the compliment.
The two of you swayed to the songs until your heels began to feel unbearable, yet the smile that plastered your face never faded as you talked and swayed.
“Thank you…” you whispered under the music
“For what?”
You don't say anything and let yourselves swing to the music for a little longer before stepping off the dancefloor, Tokoyami right on your heels. The two of you made your way to the balcony where the music was muffled enough not to disturb the two of you and where no one else was.
it was a cold night, a few hours ago you’d been sulking to yourself in the same kind of cold. About the unfortunate mistake you’d made choosing to go with that guy, about not going to your friends during this time, though they were probably busy with their own dates. But now you had Tokoyami here by your side(along with Dark Shadow of course) who didn't seem to mind being around you at all.
“Here, you’ll catch a cold” he removed his jacket and slung it over your shoulders.
“Thanks.” You nodded in gratitude, Tokoyami was such a gentleman… you had always wished that there were more times when the hero course students could talk to one another, even if it's outside of coursework. However due to your anxious nature it was almost impossible to even attempt approaching someone like Tokoyami, he was revered in news sites after the war. During the reconstruction of civilian areas there were several people who were still being sheltered in U.A. and during that time there’d be at least one journalist asking to have an interview with him.
“And… Thank you again for a while ago. Back there, I was just sitting around doing nothing when I should've been enjoying myself instead.”
“It's no problem,” he said, adding on a little quieter. “Truth be told, it’d seen you all by your lonesome and was wondering how I could approach you.”
You giggled, “how kind of you to do so.”
He smiles, looking away from you and towards the moon. “It's a beautiful night, it would have been awful to ruin such a joyous occasion due to some… unforeseen circumstances.”
‘You’re right. Though, I guess I did see it coming. I just didn't think he would actually do it.’ Is what you wanted to say, but you held your tongue, opting to hum in agreement instead.
After a while you two decided to head back inside, as wonderful as the cold air was and the peaceful atmosphere that brought it all together it was getting late and the night was about to end. When they entered the hall the music was no longer playing slow dance music and went back to upbeat dance music, you would guess they were from the 1900s era. Less people were on the dance floor and most of them were at their own tables chatting with friends and vibing to the music together.
Tokoyami’s friends began to show up one by one greeting him and yourself with a smile and a wave that you reciprocated. Despite knowing who they were you barely talked to anyone outside of your own class so this was practically your first real meeting with them.
For the last time tonight Present Mic gave one last speech, shedding a few tears in the process before bidding everyone a good night.
”I guess it's time to go..”
Tokoyami nods, he starts heading a certain direction, perhaps to gather some of his things that he’s left at their table but you knew that once he got his items he would leave afterwards. After this there wouldn't be another time you would see him. After all this time here he was now, it was now or never.
“Tokoyami wait,” he stops and looks at you with confusion written all over his face. You take a deep breath in and you say. “Do you wanna get coffee sometime? Just you, me and Dark Shadow. No Kuroiro, no Komori. Just… us.”
And he smiled. “I’d love to.”
Ghost of Chicago
Fumikage Tokoyami x reader | Lyric fic based on the Ghost of Chicago by Noah Floersch. I've had this cooking for like 2-3 years I've just finished it now. DS uses They/it pronouns!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was never looking for her
Til I found her
The hallways were packed with students, many were crowding around the announcement board that held their room assignments, while some were making their way over to their respective rooms, they'd probably gotten here earlier than some. Tokoyami wasn't one of those people who got there early but had already been informed of his room assignment.
As he made his way there Dark Shadow had been mumbling and muttering about anything and everything it could think of beside him, it was basically bouncing with excitement.
Tokoyami reaches the classroom for Class 1-A and is met with a handful of students already sitting at their desks, as he examines his new surroundings he lays his eyes on someone who he just couldn't seem to look away from.
A girl who didn't seem to stand out from the rest of the class(or at least the ones here). She was sitting on her desk chair busy with a book that laid on her table, flipping through it at a leisurely pace. Perhaps she was reading it or perhaps she was just toying with the object he couldn't really tell.
Dark shadow senses his inner conflict and starts to gush in his ear about the girl, telling him to go talk to her or to say something but he all but silences them with a sharp glare which gets it to keep their mouth shut before deciding it would be better to stay his body before anything else could happen.
Dark Shadow’s departure left him alone with his thoughts. It felt hard to focus on anything but her, his thoughts were racing and she hadn't even done anything. He felt the heat rush through his bird-like face; it was an odd feeling he’s never really felt before.
He wanted to approach her, say a few words of greeting, maybe start a conversation like Dark Shadow had advised him but all he could do was stare with his mouth slightly open as he listened to the loud beating of his heart that replaced Dark Shadow’s words of persuasion thrumming through his eardrums. He felt like a fool standing around like this, waiting for nothing to come out of a nonexistent interaction.
Silently he drags himself to move over to his seat, number 14, not too far and not too close to her seat but she was within his peripheral vision. He sighs as he sits down on his desk, already distracted on the first day.
He began to think of ways to approach this problem, if it was even appropriate to call it that. So absorbed by his train of thought he doesn't realize the person who walked up to his desk, waving their hand around in front of his face trying to get his attention.
“Uh, Hello..?” she waved at him awkwardly. Looking up he's greeted by a wobbly smile and a face full of concern.
His voice left him as he looked at her speechless, he nodded at her in acknowledgement, at least his body still responded the way he wanted it to; he didn't want to seem more foolish than what he displayed a few moments ago.
“You’re Tokoyami right?” she questioned him, bringing a hand down on to his desk as she leaned her body forward, her face was now right in front of him.
He nods, “and you must be L/N?”
She nodded happily and smiled at him.
Tokoyami has never felt his heart thump the way it did when she smiled.
Now I find her everywhere
“Tokoyami, is that you?” he whipped his head to where that voice came from, sure enough it came from the person he was just thinking of.
“Ah, of course it's you, I don't think anyone has a head like yours,” she rambled on awkwardly, scratching and moving around in embarrassment.
Then she paused and looked at him. “Unless..?”
He chuckled, shaking his head, she put a hand on her chest as she heaved a sigh of relief.
“Y/N!” Dark Shadow emerges from his body.
“Dark Shadow!” she exclaims, raising her arms to show excitement along with the sweet smile on her face.
“L/N, what brings you here?” Tokoyami smiles at the girl, over the few weeks they had been classmates he must admit he grew fond of her, though he thinks the squeezing sensation in his chest also had something to do with that as well.
“Ah, I'm doing some shopping!” she exclaimed, bringing up the shopping bags that were strapped across her arms up to her head.
“Our fates must be intertwined, I was tasked with errands by my mother. You wouldn't mind if we went around together would you?” He said with a hopeful tone, Dark Shadow came from behind him nodding as well, extremely happy to be in her presence(though it was really his emotions that were making Dark Shadow act the way they are).
“Of course not!” She moves in closer, when he thought she would begin to stride alongside him at a respectable distance she does what he did not expect her to do.
In one swift motion she links their arms together making tokoyami let out a surprised squawk at the sudden closeness making the girl giggle.
Dark Shadow cackles as it nuzzles themself into Y/N’s neck, to which Tokoyami reprimanded for such inappropriate action.
“Tokoyami, please let them stay!” she pleads, as she pets Dark Shadow above the part between his golden eyes. The way she says his name and how she held his arm closer to her chest made his heart go faster.
“Fine…” reluctantly he agrees to her request but he wouldn't say he regrets his decision as the smile that etched across her face was like he had hung the moon and the stars in her honor.
“Let's go!” she pumps her free hand up in the air with Dark Shadow copying her moments she laughs along as it does so. They begin to walk in sync as they head to their next destination.
Tokoyami swears he’ll find a way to get these queasy feelings that wrapped around his heart and his stomach.
She’s always there
In the early mornings he’s usually one of the first to wake up so he uses this time to have the lounge all to himself, make some coffee and leave himself with his thoughts. The pondering thoughts in the tranquil dawn that gazes upon the land were truly inspiring.
He was sitting on the couch pondering while he let his coffee cool down a little. He doesn't notice the elevator of the girl’s wing open until he hears footsteps making their way towards him. He looks over towards the elevator ready to greet whoever had just woken up and gotten out to see Y/N.
Admittedly he averted his gaze as quickly as he could before she could look his way, over the course of the school year he had finally accepted and realized that the fuzzy feeling in his chest was in fact infatuation with Y/N, which made his shyness towards her over the past few weeks. Instead of looking her way he focused his gaze on his coffee, taking sips with the straw in his mug trying to act natural as his heart beat against his ribcage.
Her tousled hair and tired gaze was definitely something he wanted to see every morning. something he wanted to fix up and run his fingers through, he believes it’s his bird brain instincts that's telling him to do these things, to keep her clean and safe and happy, but he doesn't mind. fixing up his morning routine to include her…
See her in my morning coffee
Glaring at me
Through the glassy surface there
He sees her looking down at him with a smile.
“Good morning Tokoyami.”
Maybe his heart could just stop at that moment.
The way she stares
He looked up to meet her gaze, she had a fond smile on her face, the tip of his beak only a little bit away from her. He doesn't notice the arms that began to wrap themselves around his neck.
Her smile got wider the longer he stared, he was so entranced by the shine in her eyes and the way her lips curled when she smiled that he didn't even realize that Dark Shadow let themself out of Tokoyami’s body and has its shadowy figure wrapped around her body like a protective canopy.
What he would give to have his mornings start out this way everyday.
She’s the ghost of chicago
She got lost somehow
Y/N: please come get me I got lost
The text she sent in the Class 1-A GC had Tokoyami hurling into a panic, heading into their private messages asking her for details on her surroundings while bolting out of the dorm taking with him a cloak from his room in order to fly around in search of her.
Minutes into his search he found her on a bench in a nearby park.
“Tokoyami!” she waves him over.
He ran her way, by the time he got there he was a little out of breath. She waited for him to catch his breath, waiting for him to look up at her. And when he does she smiles so brightly it felt like the sun had shone its light on him, so blinding and radiant he basked in it like a moth drawn to a flame, and for a dweller of the night, such an act was unusual.
“Tokoyami come and sit with me.” she pats the spot right next to her and he takes it leaving space between them.
“Were you actually lost?” she only shrugs but the grin on her face told him everything he needed to know. She leans in to him and puts her head on her shoulder, moving her hand on top of his own.
“How about we just enjoy this right now?”
He nods, leaning into her touch as well, flipping his hand over so that their palms faced each other and intertwined their fingers with one another. He looks at her to see her smiling faintly, it makes him smile too.
She gets married tomorrow
The two of them had been due to meet out of work. It'd been a while since the two had casually met up somewhere. Both being too busy with their life as pro heros and personal lives mixed in together they just had little to no time to see each other.
So here they were now in the streets of Kyushu walking around town as they caught each other up in their personal lives.
His heart soared.
“Tokoyami I'm getting married!” she blurts out.
“I beg your pardon..?” his eyes widened.
Oh and I’m goin’ down
He knew that one day that she would end up marrying. But in his mind it had always been to him. She had never talked to him about her love life up until now. She talks and talks, how nice he is and how in love she had been with the man, he just wished it was him she was talking about. it made his blood boil, a voice that screamed in envy inside his head that told him to leave.
Now he had to face the facts.
“Congratulations.” he said. Oh how empty his word of blessing sounded.
But the way she looked at him, the smile she put on… was this truly what she wanted?
He bowed his head before leaving without another word.
There she is again beside the fountain lookin’ out
As the years flew on, work had become the line that grew into a wall, a high wall that grew in distance. After that day he hadn't seen her since.
”We were lucky to get the last one in stock!” Dark Shadow had raved about a new product they had seen while on patrol. Curious about its contents Tokoyami bought it to satiate both of their curiosity.
“Indeed, if we had been a few minutes late there would have been nothing left.”
“Quickly, let's sit, I wanna see!”
Dark Shadow pushed Tokoyami closer to the fountain that stood in the middle of the street market.
And there she was sitting on the stone of the fountain.
Upon the people here it's awfully clear
Tokoyami couldn’t look away; it felt like time had stopped and they were the only people in the world.
She was here. Right now.
Her head was bobbing to the music of her earphones, a big smile was plastered on her face.
She’s haunting me and honestly I’m honored to be haunted by the likes of she
Lucky me
Just as he was about to leave, they locked eyes.
He could tell, there was some hesitation as she stared at him. He wasn't sure what of. Perhaps she thought she was seeing things, or that there was regret lingering in her mind.
Nevertheless, he smiled at her.
And she smiled back.
She's the ghost of Chicago
She got lost somehow
“I got lost.” she said as she took her headphones off. The smile on her face was still present.
He sat down beside her, a moderate distance away.
He observed her closely. She had looked mostly the same as the last time he had seen her, although she seemed a tad tired but, her hands, he thought. Had no ring to show.
“Was it unintentional this time?” He asked her, slowly unwrapping the creampuff for Dark Shadow to marvel in.
“Who knows.” she shrugged, moving closer and reaching out to him.
She gets married tomorrow
“Fumikage, come quickly!” She ushered her husband quickly into the aisle.
“My Dear, these couches seem a little…” He tilted his head in thought. Dark Shadow right behind him looking at the couch with slight confusion.
It was an odd shape for a couch. Circular, its back had no backside that could fill the corner they picked out for their new couch.
“Great, right!? I’ve been looking for one like this for soooo long.”
He chuckles, “I suppose it could work well with our furniture.” If she wanted it he wasn't going to object to her decision.
She giggles to herself but says nothing, walking over to a staff member to inquire about the couch.
Tokoyami waits for her to return with a clerk. Staring at the couch.
“Hey, Fumikage. Why’d you think she wanted this one?” Dark Shadow asked, eyeing the couch as well.
“I’m not sure…”
“This one maam!” Soon enough she was back with a clerk in tow. The clerk looked at her selected couch in confusion just as the two had.
“Are you sure this is the one you want..?”
“Yes, please!”
“Alright then.” She grabs the tag and asks them to follow her to the cash register.
As she punches in the numbers into the machine she casually asks Y/N. “Maam why do you want this couch specifically?”
“Ah, well… it's for my husband!”
“For… him?” she points to Tokoyami who held the same dumbfounded expression as she did. Y/N only nods, paying upfront for their new couch before she grabs Tokoyami by the hand and heads back to the car to await their new purchase.
“For me?” He started slowly.
“Mhm!” She said enthusiastically.
“But… I don't mind a corner couch.”
“Oh I know it's just that…” she said, “you get a little territorial when it's spring and I wanted to get us a couch we can share and make a nest together.”
“My Dove is so considerate…” He said, rubbing her hand with his own. Interlocking them together.
“Anything for you m’love.”
Momentary Dinner
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crossposted on Ao3. Mother's day Fic but is not posted on Mother's day on tumblr.
A girl with blue grey hair went over to the kitchen where she was cooking food from her Homeland. She checked the food inside the pot, lifting the cover and feeling the hot steam on her face as she peered down to see if they were ready. The food looked just about right and ready to be eaten, so she turned off the stove's heat, lifted the pot and placed its contents into a different bowl, bringing this last pot over to the table that had already had their food readied. "Master, dinner is ready." She called her master.
"Yes, I will be with you shortly." A woman with similarly colored hair replied from above in her study. She closes the laptop she was working on, fixes her papers to be neatly stacked up, and heads down stairs to eat.
Descending down the stairs she could already smell the food Lixue cooked up. “Mmm, it smells lovely, Lixue.” As she enters she takes a whiff of the kitchen, which has the strongest scent in the house, her Lixue’s cooking.
Though she wasn't home often, she treasured everything her Lixue makes for her and everything she's achieved.
The two of them sat on the opposite side of the dining table, their table wasn't big, they didn't expect guests to come by often as the ones living in this house weren't very social people, and matters they have to attend to happen outside and not indoors, so something small and comfortable was enough.
Lixue had made a feast for them tonight, there was food from their Homeland and food that came from other countries. "Lixue, where did you learn to cook these dishes?" Fu Hua questioned, as she had never taught her how to cook western foods.
"Ah…a friend —a colleague— of mine taught me how to make them." She looks down on her food. 2 days before she had asked the girls from the Snow Wolf Squad for recipes from their home countries to cook for this day, she wanted to savor this day and enjoy it with her master.
After a while they chatted about anything that's gone on in their lives, Lixue had been so busy with Schicksal and her master being away very often left little to no chance to have a get together. So these moments were sparse yet cherished.
“The soup you made is wonderful…” her master smiled as she took another sip of the soup.
She felt like crying, this moment didn't feel real to her at all, the smile her master had on was genuine and true.
At this moment she was happy.
After-school ice cream
I completely forgot to post this here
translations for some words~
Kuya - is often used on older men, usually cousins or brothers as a sign of respect.
Pwede - can we
Diba - right
sige wait lang - okay wait a moment
"Pardo, no." Kosma grips Pardo's hood with one hand and cradles Can in the other, the cat was fast asleep while its owner was running full speed while being stuck in one place.
"But Kosma, didn't you see how loaded that guy looked!? I gotta get in on this."
"....We have to go before Griseo starts worrying."
"Lil' Griseo will be fine, we'll pick her up from school...right after this deal!"
Kosma pauses for a moment, still holding on to Pardo's hood. "...Ah, wouldn't Aponia be upset if we came home later than she expected..?"
The name 'Aponia' made Pardo stop in her tracks, she looked Kosma right in the eye and said "Hey, how about we head now yeah? We don't wanna keep Lil' Griseo waiting now, do we?" With that she yoinks her hood out of Kosma's, Grabs the hand he used to hold her hood and races their way to Griseo's school.
"Griseo! we're here to pick you up!!" Pardo's voice boomed and echoed through the school halls, yet she was only by the entrance of the elementary gate.
"Shouldn't Griseo be out by now? we're at the right gate right? same one as the one we always go to?" She kept piling questions after questions, all were left unanswered as Kosma had approached the guard who was stationed there.
"...Excuse me, sir. Where are all the elementary students?"
"Well, you see you two came early, the kids don't come out until 3."
"...But, I thought it was already more than 3...." He mutters.
He looks at the clock in the lobby, and on the clock it wrote '1:38'
We were too early....
Kosma returns to Pardo’s side but wouldn't look her in the eye.
"Pardo...we should go and come back later..." he tugs at her hood again, placing himself behind her and making himself smaller as if hiding from something.
"ehhh...but we just got here."
“...”
"Pardo, look at the clock..."
"huh..? HUH!?"
around 20 or so minutes later
The pair were now sitting on a bench right outside of the elementary gate.
"So all this time I could've had time to wait..!" she whines to herself, slumping against the railing behind her.
"Even if you did, you would've started making a whole business on the street." He pointed out, an exasperated sigh could be heard from beside him.
"Hey, how about we explore the place! get to know Lil' Griseo's school grounds, y'know?" she said excitedly and without waiting for an answer from Kosma she runs over to the guard
"Kuya guard, pwede uh can we go inside and explore? We promise we’ll be good and not do anything stupid!"
"I'm sorry ma’am, but no one is allowed to go in without an ID or if the children are being excused."
"Please kuya, I don't wanna sit here for another hour, I need to do something!"
the pleads of Pardo could be heard from where Kosma sat, he sighed in defeat. he wanted her whines to stop and didn't want to bother the guard any longer so he taps her shoulder lightly and points to a spot behind him, quietly telling her to come and follow him this way, with a bow and a soft sorry to the guard they left for a while.
“Can, stay here.” the cat mewls and curls into a sleeping position on the bench they sat on.
His hands were shoved into his pockets, taking out two pieces of chocolate for both himself and pardo.
"Hey, where are we going?"
He doesn't answer her and continues forward, taking the lead and heading into an ice cream shop.
"Woah, I didn't know there was an ice cream shop around here! Kosma, money? What do you wanna order? I'll place it in for you!"
"...Rocky road, lots of it." He hands her money enough for a medium sized cup for himself.
"Alrighty, Hi, can I order..!"
Kosma sits in a vacant area close to the door and farther from the counter, swatting away any crumbs left over on the table, luckily the employees had gotten rid of any liquids left by the ice cream. He looks at the clock on the top of the door, it reads '2:12'. it took them a couple minutes to walk their way here, if they finish up quickly they'll be able to get back quickly.
"Kosma, here's your rocky road! you only handed me enough for a medium so i used some of my money to get you the really big one, you owe me."
"...really big one..?"
"yup, really big!"
Silence.
"...Pardo, I gave you enough for a medium because I wanted a medium..."
Silence.
"Ah..! W-Well... you still owe me..!" an embarrassed flush present on her face as she scooped ice cream into her mouth.
"...Whatever" he sighs, digging into his 26oz ice cream pint bucket.
A couple minutes had passed and the two still hadn't looked each other in the eye or made conversation, so in an attempt to make it less awkward he asked her "...what did you get?"
"Oh! Well, I got ube and queso!" she plonks her large 16oz pint down on the table.
"...I don't think I've heard of ube and queso before..."
"You see, they’re a popular flavor where I come from! They're both super good, here try some!" She shoves a spoonful of ube and queso into his face, waiting for him to open his mouth, he complies and the spoon is shoved gently(sort of hard) in his mouth.
He savors the flavor and chews the small chunks of cheese.
"It's good."
"Diba!! You get it!"
He looks down at his own pint.
I don't think I'm gonna be able to finish this now
"don't worry if you can't finish it now, we can finish it together on our way to Griseo and if we still have some left she can have some too!" sometimes Pardo could read his mind(or so to speak his face) causing him to jump every time he does.
She tells him that she was going to get another spoon for Griseo before leaving the table. Kosma starts cleaning up the table as they prepare to leave, he looks at the clock again and now it says ‘2:37’, which should be enough time to get back to the school. He picks up Pardo’s pint, closes it up and puts it into the plastic they had given along with their pints.
“Okay, I got more plastic spoons, you ready?”
He nods.
“Alright, let's go!” They head out the door and back to the school.
By the time they got there there were already kids playing in the lobby area. Some were playing tag, some were sitting while waiting for their guardian to pick them up, and some were drawing on the floor. One of those kids was Griseo, who sat at the very back of the lobby far from everyone else.
Cupping her hands around her mouth Pardo yells, “Griseo!!” The Girl in question looks up from her paper to see who was calling for her, she sees the two of them and stands up, picking up her drawing, shoves it into her bag and makes her way over to the entrance to greet the two.
“You came for me!” she says gleefully.
“Yeah we did kiddo, let's get going shall we? We got ice cream with us, want some?” she says, holding on to Griseo’s hand and intertwining their fingers together.
“Want!” she says, making grabby hands with her free hand towards the plastic bag Kosma’s holding. Can joins their group and greets Griseo first by rubbing on her leg.
“Sige wait lang, let's go sit somewhere first so we can nom on these properly.” she said as she led them somewhere with shade and a place to sit.
“This should be a good spot. Sit here Griseo, Kosma you go on the opposite side.'' She takes out Kosma’s pint and places it in the middle of the two, then hands both of them plastic spoons.
“Pardo, where will you sit?”
“Right here!” she plops herself down on the concrete floor in the middle of the two, cross legged and ready to eat. Kosma opens the pint to see it melting slowly.
“Oh no the ice cream..!”
“Quickly, munch!” Pardo exclaims and digs her spoon into the half melted rocky road ice cream, the two following right after.
“I want the marshmallows.”
“Here.” Kosma scoops some of the marshmallows that could be seen at the top onto Griseo’s side of the pint.
“You can have the ones on my side too!” she says and does the same as Kosma.
“Ah, thank you Pardo and Kosma.” She beams a big smile at the two then looks down at the marshmallows and picks them up with her hands.
“Griseo don't pick those up with your hands you’ll get yourself dirty, use the spoon Pardo gave you.” Kosma uses a wet wipe he keeps in his pocket to wipe Griseo’s stained hands and face.
“Okay, I'll do that next time.” patting her uniform’s skirt down for any dust
“Now that we’ve finished Kosma’s ice cream let's go home.” She stood up and dusted the back of her shorts and held out her hand to Griseo with the girl taking her hand and once again intertwining them together. Kosma had taken the pint and put it into a bin close by.
The girls join up with Kosma and head back home.
“We’re a bit past 4.”
Pardo groans.
A delusion I had about the 6th herrscher's from the previous era's defeat, a conversation with Kevin before her death
under the cut
"it's over herrscher"
Kevin, a soldier of MOTH stood opposite to the 6th herrscher, the air between them was tense nothing around them moved, they were on their own.
"..."
"..."
"do you really have nothing left to say?"
"no, I've already surrendered just get it over with."
"..."
"...herrscher tell me something"
"..."
"why do you herrschers do this?"
“..”
"None of your business"
"It became humanity's business the moment your kind attacked, will you answer?"
the girl proceeds to get on her knees, raising her arms she takes hold of the gun Kevin is holding and points it toward her head, accepting her fate she lowers her head and closes her eyes, but before Kevin shoots her the girl then says to him
"..."
The herrscher mumbles something incoherent or maybe Kevin was too far to hear what she was saying, she speaks a little louder, enough for Kevin to understand.
"I can't do this anymore.. I'm tired, human"
"that's why.. I want you to end me already.."
"that way I might see her again"
"is that your wish?"
"hah... I guess it is"
"put my core to good use, protect humanity just like what □□□□□□ wanted to do"
"we will" the sound of a gunshot echoed the empty city just like that the girl fell and all was silent the battle was won
Sleep deprived Bronya and Kiana
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I tried copying Kiana's old habits and it may not be the best.
I've had this idea for a while and wanted to write it out, I'm still experimenting on the way I want to write so it's still very messy, once and a while I may edit things in and out and change things in the story because I didn't like it.
Tumblr media
Kiana is in the kitchen making pizza toast when suddenly she hears a thud from Bronya's room
"What was that? Bronya?"
She goes down the hall to check out what was causing that noise
"Ughh.."
"Bronya, what are you doing on the ground? That's no place to sleep."
Bronya grumbles in response but offers no words. She gets up on her own only to fall back down again, seeing this Kiana picks Bronya up and puts her down on her bed.
"Haha, Bronya's gotten so weak she can't even pick herself up."
Bronya grumbles in annoyance at Kiana's remark
"You want me to sing you a lullaby to get you to bed?" Kiana says to the girl teasingly as she tucks her in
Bronya huffs "Kiana idiotka's voice might do the opposite, no thanks."
Before Kiana could say something back she remembered the pizza toast she left in the toaster
"Hey my singing isn— KYAA My pizza toast!"
She rushes back into the kitchen and she sighs in relief when she takes the pizza toast out of the toaster to see it wasn't completely burnt and that she could still save it, sorta
"That was close, gotta be more careful next time I don't wanna burn the house down or aunt Theresa will kill me." She says as she takes out a knife to cut the pizza toast
She hums as she works her way through the burnt crust and working her way into the edible parts "hmm hmm I wonder if Bronya would want some? I guess I could go back and ask her."
"Bronya do you want some pizza toast?" Kiana asks as she peeks through her door frame to see Bronya on her console playing Homu Kingdom
"Bronya you're supposed to be sleeping right now!"
"I'm not sleepy" she mumbles, trying to concentrate on her screen while she tries to keep herself awake, her head nodding back and forth.
Kiana sighs "well since you're still awake let's go get something to eat."
"Are we going outside?"
"No, we're just gonna go over to the kitchen."
"I thought the idiotka had something big planned."
Kiana crosses her arms and looks the other direction "well if you don't it fine! I'll eat it all myself."
"I never said I didn't want some idiotka"
After their exchange of words they head over to the kitchen
Kiana presents the scavenged pizza toast to Bronya, much to Kiana's dismay Bronya starts criticizing her work
"It's all cut weirdly."
"Some parts got super burnt so I removed them."
"Yeah it really make it look like you made them."
"Is that a compliment or an insult!" Kiana says in annoyance rambling on at how Bronya wouldn't be able to make pizza toast as good as she can.
While Kiana was rambling Bronya takes a piece from the plate and eats it
"It's decent"
"Really!?"
"Yeah."
Kiana takes one herself, a pizza toast she didn't cut out, it was burnt all over but she didn't care, she wolfs it down quickly and grabs another.
"Kiana slow down you're gonna choke." Bronya slides over a glass of water which Kiana takes immediately and drunk it
After their meal Bronya finally gets sleepy and wobbles her way back to her room to go sleep, Kiana accompanies her just in case Bronya falls but Kiana would never admit to that, would she?
