Starrrrr!!! It's been so long!! I wanted to ask a few things. First, I'm legit just curious if you're still writing klance? And second, I'm starved for good klance fics in general lmao, which ones do you recommend? I feel like I've read a million of them and i go back to AO3 to read some golden oldies but they're just gone now that the fandom kinda died sadly :'c

Also, to that printed read all about anon, you could print and bind it yourself if you have the patiences xD I've been wanted to do the same tbh. Good way to occupy the mind and might learn a new skill!

Also, how's life been in general? Hope you're doing well.

It has!!!!! I still like popping in here from time to time. Soooo much better than twitter lol.

Weeeellll........ I am currently, actively, working on the next chapter of RAAI: part 2! It's been a while, and I can't confirm WHEN exactly I'll have anything to show for it, but it feels really really good to live in that universe again. It just kinda feels right!

Sadly, though, I have been MIA from the kl fanfic world for far too long to have any recommendations for you... I can't even remember the last time I read a klance fic! I'm sure there are some really good ones out there that've popped up while I was gone. Hopefully I'll get around to reading them soon!

Thanks, anon! Life's been pretty good actually. The past few years have been rough, and it's taken me some time to process and heal, but I'm finally beginning to feel like myself again. There are good days and bad days, of course, but for the most part I'm having good ones. :)

"And god, Lance thinks, this must be everything that Keith despises so much—the gawking, the gossiping, being in the center of it all—but no one would ever be able to tell just by looking at him. Right here, he holds himself tall, still as marble, his face a perfectly chiseled blank canvas, fully absorbed in the blues of Lance’s dumbstruck eyes. What the hell are you doing, Lance wants to yell at him, but he doesn’t trust himself to open his mouth without his whole damn heart falling out of it. He can already feel the frenzied beating behind his molars, pulsing like a time-bomb, and the suspense of it is downright excruciating.

Especially as Keith begins reaching for the front of his jacket, gripping tight with both hands, and then—hesitates.

Lance chokes on his own spit so violently he thinks he might puke.

In slow-motion, Keith’s fingers pull the fabric apart, clasps popping open one by one, and the entire galaxy shrinks smaller and smaller with each piercing snap.

The rest goes something like this: the jacket slips off his shoulders and drops to his feet. Someone in the audience gasps, and then everyone begins howling and cameras are flashing and clicking and tweeting in rapid succession, and Lance is pretty sure he dissociates for a solid minute because—

Right here—looking like an ethereal god under the sun’s glare, or some sort of celestial fantasy come to fucking life—Keith is wearing a bright red jersey. A bright red jersey with big white block letters stitched onto the front. Big white block letters that spell out:

‘KEITH SAID YES’.

Holy mother of—

Lance’s eyes blow impossibly wide, aching inside their sockets, and he has to clap both hands over the lower half of his face just to keep his jaw from unhinging to the ground. He must look positively batshit crazy right now, all red-faced and frazzled in a way that’s going to make him cringe later when he watches the inevitable line-up of social media posts bombarding his timeline, but that’s, well... something of a secondary priority right now, honestly.

“Guh,” he garbles into his palms.

Maybe the first priority should be remembering how to speak.

Then Keith curls his lips, small and crooked and seemingly pleased by the miserable attempt at speech. He extends a hand, steady and fearless, waiting for Lance to take it.

“Let’s do prom, loverboy,” he says and a deafening screech ripples through the crowd."

I'm reading S&H again (and btw, Careless Whisper and Only Love Can Hurt Like This have been heavily playing on my mind as I read the fic), and I need the details 😭 What was going through Keith's mind the first time he saw Lance after their breakup? That boy was shook, oh what was he thinking and why do I keep thinking of that httyd quote 'you look as beautiful as the day i lost you' wahhhhhhh

Oh man......... that moment was so difficult to write!!! Mainly because there was soooo much internal stuff going on with Keith that I couldn't fully get into (because it's written in Lance's POV). Honestly, he was probably freaking out over whether or not he was dreaming lol. That whole period of time after their breakup was just a huge, awful, foggy haze for Keith (which has a LOT of angsty one-shot potential tbh), and Shiro did his best to shake him out of it, but the poor boy just... wasn't there.

Heya!! I absolutely love your fics, especially "Showmance" and "Read All About It". For me, I really relate to the way you portray Lance. I get that want to be recognized for a thing you're so passionate about. I struggle a lot with trying to get my chance in the spotlight, and "Read All About It" gave me a different point of view! When I saw "Showmance" I audibly, and very dramatically gasped, because, theatre!?!? Anyways, love youu PS: WHENS THE NEXT CHAPTER COMING OUT!??!!!

Yeah i completely get what you mean star. Not just in the voltron fandom, but in other fandoms i'm in, it's annoying to see the characters completely twisted by fans into something else absolutely different. And when it's everywhere you look, along with unnecessary drama regarding the different interpretations, it's frustating to the point one needs to step back. You're my favorite writer, and I always think you get the characterizations so on point with a beautiful story to add!! I love making and seing the beautiful pieces of art fans come up in fandoms - fics, artwork, gifs, edits, etc. It's a love letter to the characters! But your work is my favorite thing about being in this fandom, so I'm so so so so happy you kept posting your fics for us to read ^^ i feel honored even! (oh man,,, does this sound selfish of me?? If it does, I apologize!)

Oh yeah, this phenomenon definitely isn't exclusive to the klance fandom! In many ways, that can be the beautiful thing about fandoms – the imagination, the creativity, the freedom to express – but it's tricky when groups get that big and there are sooo many people just talking over each other.

And then there's the fact that vld (like, the actual show) ended so long ago. When the source material becomes "outdated", fandoms tend to veer farther and farther away from it. I even started to notice that a lot of new people joining the fandom had NEVER EVEN WATCHED the show before, so they were going off of purely whatever they see on social media, which... yeah lol. I mean, do whatever you want, but that just seems odd to me.

ANYWAY omg thank you!! I'm so grateful you liked my stuff <3 As much as it might seem like I'm bashing it right now lol, I truly did have the time of my life writing fics for the klance fandom. Sorry for being a lot slower these days, but I promise I will get things updated in my own time :)

star i been meaning to ask what was the REAL tea about that twt drama when you decided to step back from the fandom?

Oh gosh, anon, that was like 3-4 years ago I think??? I mean, I remember my experience, but I can't speak on any of the "drama" that was going on at the time because it didn't really involve me.

Basically, it just got to a point where I felt like I wasn't vibing with a majority of the fandom anymore. The klance fandom was huge back then, and there were some popular creators at the time who, naturally, had rather large followings. Many of these creators were coming up with different fanon interpretations of Keith and Lance, altering their dynamic and personalities a bit, and putting out a lot of content about it.

For the record, that's not the part that bugged me. Creating OOC/AU versions of beloved characters is a totally normal thing to do in fandoms! It's just that, because these creators had such big followings, there was an onslaught of people joining the fandom who believed these fanon interpretations were actually canon. It got to the point where it was becoming difficult to find fellow klance lovers who knew anything about Keith and Lance as they were originally written.

And that made me sad. There used to be soooo much klance content that I loved, but when a loud majority of the fandom starts supporting a version of the characters that you genuinely just don't enjoy... what else could I do? I originally thought about leaving the fandom entirely, but I still loved these characters with my whole heart, so instead I just took a huge step back. I still write fics – just much more privately now lol.

Is keith lances' private bodyguard/knight in heartbound? Does each of the family members have a specific knight assigned to them or is keith just always around lance (or maybe vice versa) due to their friendship and bond?

kind of both! they grow up being best friends, and then when keith decides to become a knight, it's just sort of natural that he hangs around. although keith is often intentionally assigned to keep an eye on lance because that boy is a handful and will get into mischief if he's not being monitored, and keith is one of the few people who knows him well enough to reel him back in lol.
