500-Year-Old Body of Man Wearing Thigh-High Boots Found in London Sewer Construction

During the construction of London’s massive “super sewer,” archaeologists discovered something unusual in the mud: a 500-year-old skeleton of a man still wearing his thigh-high leather boots.

The Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) announced this week that the skeleton was unearthed on the shores of the Thames, near a bend in the river downstream from the Tower of London.

“By studying the boots, we’ve been able to gain a fascinating glimpse into the daily life of a man who lived as many as 500 years ago,” said Beth Richardson, a finds specialist who analyzes artifacts at MOLA Headland, a consortium of archaeologists. “They have helped us to better understand how he may have made his living in hazardous and difficult conditions, but also how he may have died. It has been a privilege to be able to study something so rare and so personal.” Read more.

looking back at old pics of me during high school is rough....I didn’t know what I had back then and I took everything for granted but I guess realizing that is a part of growing up. I mistreated a lot of people just because I was miserable which isn’t fair and I’m sorry to everyone I hurt bc quite frankly I’m a bitch lol but I’m growing and learning from my past and even tho yeah sometimes I look back at HS era me and I think like ‘wow I wish I could go back’ but I also realize all the things that version of myself was lacking....

I’ve learned so much in these years since graduating high school and I’m so thankful for all the lessons I’ve learned. I’ve gained so much knowledge since HS. My 17 year old self would look at me now and be amazed at what she saw. She’d look up to the person I am today and for that I am so grateful. That shit is mind blowing and honestly like I attribute all of my success to all the bullshit I’ve been through. I’ve overcome so much that nobody knows about, only I know the full gravity of the shit I’ve had to deal with. And I’m so proud of myself. Most people can’t see the changes that took place but I can and let me tell you I’ve undergone such a dramatic change, it’s unreal. No lie like when I started this post I was lowkey in my feelings buttttt I know that as much as I can reminisce on how “great” things were in high school, that shit was actually whack and I have the strength to pull myself away from that toxic mentality bc I KNOW how much better off I am now. I’m truly blessed. And shit can only get better from here bc I’m making moves 🥰🥰🥰 I’m so fucking excited

Wow

So I had this crazy vivid dream, I literally thought it was happening irl. And so I was going through the dream after I woke up and at first I was thinking like ‘wow is this my subconscious telling me what I really want from life’ you know ? Like there were certain ppl in my dream that I saw and interacted with and I was like ? Is this me missing them? And then I realized that it wasn’t a dream, but a nightmare....I realized that everything that happened in my dream was like basically all of my greatest fears compiled together and honestly...like although that caused me a great deal of anxiety I was relieved bc I thought my subconscious was telling me that I wanted these things to happen to me. But no it’s the very opposite of what I wanted. These are the things that I dread most in life ugh so crazy
