Alastor & Reader who stays close to him

★ Most sinners try to stay far away from him. The ones who don't usually have something wrong with them, like Nifty or Sir Pentious. You, on the other hand, seem perfectly sane. Alastor wonders, what makes you seek him out? Perhaps you’re more naive than he thought. Either way, he tolerated it. Letting you trail behind him like a lost puppy. 

 ★ You can tell he’s ace, the way he behaves around others gives that away. It’s not just a reflection of the conservative norms in his time. It's something else. Even during life he never had an interest in romance or physical intimacy. In death, it only became more noticeable. Hell is full of  indulgence, hedonism and temptation. Yet none of it interests him. 

★ That's what drove you to stay close. He noticed the way you hovered. Close enough to know you were there, yet far enough to not encroach on his space. It wasn't naivety that kept you near him. It was fear. Fear of others, of being hurt again. 

★ If/when he learns the details of your situation, It hits him like static slicing through a radio frequency. Sharp, unexpected, and impossible to ignore. You don't stay close to him because you don't know any better, it's because he makes you feel safe. Alastor’s mind flickers back to his days living, considering how such a thing might have played out in the world above. 

★ You have a habit of standing/sitting next to Alastor whenever the hotel hosts company. He even positions himself between you and any unfamiliar faces. Remember, he was brought up in a time when decorum and manners were important. Doing this feels natural to him. Like a gentleman escorting a lady at social events.

★ Another behavior Alastor retained from his old life is formality and restraint. He shows this by never invading your personal space or making any unnecessary contact. It's one of the reasons why you like him so much. Little do you know it's not so much about kindness as it is maintaining the decorum he was raised with.

★ “Did you ever settle the score?” He asks you. If you tell him you haven’t, his gaze narrows. “What a shame.” There's a flicker of disappointment in Alastor’s eyes.  “I almost pity you. Almost. But pity is for the weak. And you’re not weak, are you?” Before you have time to wrap your head around what he said, he continued. “If you need… assistance, you know where to find me.”

Okay, don't ask me why, but I decided to look up whether or not condoms were a thing in the 1920's and I learned that latex condoms were just invented and much more common than rubber ones!

Does Alastor Care About Niffty?

Somewhere between an ask that implied that people on Twitter thought that Niffty considers people at the hotel family, excluding Alastor and a post on Reddit about who Alastor cares about the most, that had people who were convinced that Alastor only care about Niffty as a pet or because she is easy to control, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people don't understand the relationship between Alastor and Niffty. I have therefore decided to write a mini-essay to show that not only does Alastor care about Niffty, but he is the one who cares the most at the hotel. The basis of this argument is that Alastor is the only one at the hotel who views Niffty as an adult person and treats her as such, while the rest of the hotel treat her like either a child or a somewhat dangerous pet. I am going to highlight how the rest of the hotel treats Niffty before talking about how Alastor treats her.

Listening and Talking to Niffty: Charlie talks about Niffty as if she were a dangerous pet with the "we're about 80% sure she's harmless" line. At no point in the show do we have Charlie talk to Niffty like she is a fellow adult. Husk tells Niffty to keep her thoughts to herself when she tries to share her opinion when everyone else is sharing theirs.

General treatment of Niffty: During the trust fall, Niffty shares her own special secret, and the hotel cast moves away from her and lets her fall on her face. It is a good thing that she enjoys pain.

Angel Dust treats Niffty like a child, taking away a knife from her because he doesn't like her holding it at that moment. Husk lost interest in the BDSM club as soon as Niffty showed interest in it. I think Husk's relationship with Niffty is one that people view a lot more favourably than the show portrays it, because I do not get the impression that he is as fond of her as people make it seem. Not that I would blame him, Niffty is the golden child of their dynamic with Alastor.

This doesn't mean that people at the hotel are never kind to her or never do anything for her. Sir Pentious got her out of the way of falling rubble when the hotel was attacked by the loan sharks. Angel Dust tried to look after her at the club, even if he had to hand her off to Husk because he couldn't deal with her, and famously went against Valentino for her. However, none of these scenes highlighted them treating Niffy like an adult woman.

I won't go into the argument that Alastor sees Niffty as a pet when it is literally said in the conversation with Husk that Husk is the one viewed as a pet. He treats Niffty completely differently from Husk, so that dismisses that argument. The argument that she is easy to control or handle can easily be dismissed by the fact that, as can be clearly seen by how no one at the hotel seems able to handle her, she definitely isn't easy to handle. Niffty will only do things that she wants to do, and the best you can do is guide her.

Alastor listens to Niffty and talks to her like she is a fellow adult who is worth listening to. He also isn't controlling of her in any way to support the argument that he likes her because she is easy to control. In the scene where Sir Pentious attacks the hotel, Niffty climbs Alastor. Alastor removes her the first time, but when she climbs up on her again, he just lets her. His ears are pointed towards her to focus on what she is saying to him. He responds to her as she speaks without being dismissive of her.

In the scene that best showcases their bond, everyone at the hotel is with the people they care about on what could potentially be their last night. Niffty is with Alastor, separated from the rest of the hotel. This means that he was the one that she chose to spend her potential last night beside. Alastor listens to Niffty and responds to her like she is a mature individual capable of valid thoughts, even if he doesn't fully understand them. He validates her thoughts on the hotel, lets her put a crown of roaches on his head, and laughs with her for as long as she wants. There was nothing selfish or self-serving about his behaviour with her.

Now, I know that there are those whose issue with the concept of Alastor loving Niffty is that they think he is supposed to be pure evil, but the truth is, all the characters in Hazbin Hotel are complex characters capable of good and evil. Alastor, having people he cares about, doesn't make him good or evil because that's not how love works. There are plenty of villains whose driving motivation is love for better or worse. Hell, even in real life, some of the worst people you know have people they care about and this doesn't stop them from being assholes to everyone else.

My though about Alastor and Husk dynamic

So, a lot of people say that Husk and Alastor are in bad term, and Husk want only be free from the Radio demon. I've read about abuse, power imbalance, etc... but I think their relationship is more complicated than that.

I want to write something about it, and give my though about some of the controversial shenes

Ep 5, Mimzy enter the shene

So in this one Mimzy enter in the hotel, apparently only for a visit, but Husk is not happy to see her at all. Why? Well he will tell us soon enought, and the reason is when Mimzy show up, it is because she want Alastor to fish her out of troubles. We all know the story but I want point something in this, and it is Husk behavior. What did Husk did here? Warned Angel an Pentious about incoming troubles?

He went straight to Alastor, call him out of indiscrete ears and warn him

Why? If Husk only want to be free much better that Mimzy show up, only more trouble for Alastor. Who knows, maybe this time the deer will be finally shot down!

But what he said here is the exact opposite!

"You and I both know that Mimzy only shows up when she need something. That b***h is trouble, and who knows what kind of demon she fucked up with to come run to you this time"

This speech mark two point here:

1) The troubles Mimzy bring are Alastor's to resolve, and Husk know this. Alastor himself answer the cat: "It is nothing I can't handle, don't worry Husker";

2) Alastor took the trash out himself, and he will not ask Husk to fight the loan sharks. If Alastor was so evil he would send Husk against the demons that Mimzy brought. He did it? Not what happened.

For what I saw, I think I can say that Husk worries here is Alastor himself. He don't want his boss in trouble and he want Alastor out of it. I'm really giving kudos to Husk here, he cares and it was kind of him, but there is another lens we have to use. Practically Husk is saying "shoo out that girl, she is only trouble" and that is true, but there is one problem, Alastor cares about this woman. He know her for so long and he isn't prone to leave her in trouble. Somehow it resembles the pilot shene where Vaggie want Alastor out the hotel because he is dangerous, but Charlie said that can't throw out a sinner, because that would be against what she was trying to do. What is different in Charlie and Alastor answers? The terms used.

what a creepy face! 😆 It is true tha Husk cross a line here, but is also true that Alastor reaction was hard.

The term used, but not the answer given! I would like to ask, what would Husk do with Mimzy then? He knows she was in trouble. What did expect Alastor to do? Throw her out? Leave her in the demons hands? Not his style it seems.

I really don't want to mention Valentino, because is a character that is too much assaulted, but when I saw post like that Alastor here was like Valentino 2.0 I really fully disagreed. Alastor not only never hit Husk, but he said himself that it is a warning. So not a Valentino, but more like when Angel, in episode 4, get angry when Husk pushed his buttons (wow Husk, you really like doing that, do you?).

(I doubt Angel can push Valentino or talk down to him the same way Husk can with Alastor)

The meaning of the jump scare? Could be many... but one of them is like:

Husk:"you are not strong as you were, you are an hazbin." Alastor:"Are you sure about that, I still could scare you."

The rest is story. Mimzy reveal herself and her troubles and Alastor took care of it, like always.

Husk here is something like:"I knew it!" 😆

But then one change, Alastor warn Mimzy that the hotel is important to him and if she didn't want to join she needs to leave.

Here something fandom tend to ignore, this little smug face here. Look at Husk, he seems so satisfied. I think it isn't simple for Alastor the way Mimzy leaves, both for his ego and friendship with her, but in the end Alastor listen to Husk.

The other shene I want to point out is the finale:

Husk is not happy that Alastor pop out....are we sure? I saw that he went for the hug here. And about his face? I interpreting something like:

Alastor: "see Husker, I'm still alive, told you!" Husk: "you will make me bald someday, right boss."

This is my interpretation, but I didn't see their dynamic so bad as what some fan put it.

Husk is not only on a leash, he is Alastor righthand. Yeah it is a bit complicated, like Blitzø and Moxxie (it seems Vivz like this kind of relationship), but like the two imps, I'm expecting we will see more about these two lil freaks in the future.

🖤 || - He is NOT afraid to tease you, or rile you up purposefully throughout the day. He's a very perceptive man, he knows exactly what you like. Yet of course he won't deny you later at night, what kind of gentleman would he be to deny his darling of their needs?

🤍 || - Switch. You can not tell me he wouldn't do either. Of course he prefers top, and would top for the first time. But after you've been dating for a few years, he'll trust you enough to take the lead. Of course whenever that happens he could easily regain it, but.. well, he'll never EVER admit it, but he loves when you top. At first he was skeptical, but it felt amazing. 🖤 || - He definitely does aftercare. He needs to make sure his darling is alright after all, it's how he shows his love. If he topped he will pick you up and wash you, yet tease you if you're sore. He can't help it, he IS still a sadistic power-hungry sinner after all. But if you topped, he would prefer you to help him wash but is fine with cuddling. He definitely doesn't like staying dirty, but if you just cuddle him he won't mind. Your touch is more then enough, and he would never admit it but his body gets very clingy after sex. He isn't used to doing it after all, but he still tries to not seem too clingy.
