Outlined are benefits of attending summer camps at STC parks:
 Promotes Motivation-
Children can gain knowledge of what a true leader resembles when they observe their counselors, how they relate with kids and adults and how they correspond. We at STC parks are action-packed with activities that include running, swimming, hiking and playing sports. All these activities help to encourage/motivate children to learn navigate through group dynamics, and to keep one another happy.
 Builds Confidence-
Many youngsters today deal with self-confidence issues. At, STC Parks we will challenge your youth with special projects, educational activities, and corporeal challenges, that support them to work together to achieve goals, slowly. By excluding the regular schooling year activities such as academics, athletics, and social competitiveness we help kids gain self-confidence. Teens can focus on their abilities better without judgment from surrounding groups.
Promotes Social Interaction & Discovers Passions-
Building strong social skills is most vital for youth on their approach towards college and a more self-governing life. With so much of contact occurring online these days, it’s very easy for young people to overlook real-life social development. We provide teaching and support to improve their sporting abilities, artistic talents and communicational skills while helping them discover talents they didn't know they had.
 Study Key Leadership Skills-
A leadership camp is a great chance for a young person to expand their personality. This is where your youngster will get challenged to uncover his or her true potential as a leader, not a follower. A camp is just the thing.
Prepares Kids For Future By Connecting With Nature-
Camp Pottawatomie helps them understand their potential and how it relates to real-life challenges. Also, it helps teens gain insight into the nature that surrounds them, as they return to basics. By unplugging from the grip of technology that surrounds them after schooling hours which usually draws them straight to the television, gaming console or their phones they learn critical life lessons which help them soar into adulthood. Hence, forming them into better future individuals who have empathy and respect for the outdoors, wildlife and nature that surrounds them.
Want to help your child grow as a leader this Summer? Send them to St Charles Park Camp Pottawatomie, and give them a fresh experience which they will cherish for the years to come!

Most Common Gym Mistakes & How To Avoid Them
Getting back in shape is considered the most exciting and intimidating time for many people. Our motivation being at its peak, the time to reach our fitness goals is now. And as we know, common mistakes are made along the way with regards to starting anything new. To avoid this, Gym St Charles have compiled a few commonly made mistakes and how they can be avoided.
Not Asking For Support or Help When Unsure
At college, business or any walk of life, if you are unsure or lack the understanding of something the best you can do is ask someone. It should not be any different at a gym. Asking questions to qualified trainers is always the best policy. It might be scary, but you will realize mostly everyone is friendly and ready to help you.
 Not Balancing Your BodyÂ
Often done unintentionally by us all. Many don't realize those leg extensions, squats and lunges focus on the thigh quadriceps muscle, and we forgot to work out the back of the thigh. And it's not about the lower body, the same goes for the upper body too. This results in a poorly formed body structure, muscle imbalance, strain and injury.
 Not Wearing The Right Shoes
We all are guilty of simply slipping into our sneakers or torn trainers in the hurry to just start. Wearing the wrong footwear often leads to injuries. Our advice is to find a shoe that will let your foot function in the right way other than restricting it.
Not Understanding That Healthy Foods Too Have Calories
Healthy food is necessary for the body and we need to incorporate them in most of our diets and we must not confuse them with being entirely calorie-free. Only because they are extremely nourishing to your body doesn't mean you chow them down thinking you will lose weight. Both eating too much food and not providing your body enough fuel is extremely detrimental to achieving your goals during workout days.
Not Warming Up or Cooling Down Before & After Workout Sessions
Whether it is training for strength or burning fats via cardio, a warm-up before and a cool down after a workout is very important. All of us know it feels pretty dull and boring but this will help your body get prepped for what comes during your workout, this, in turn, will keep you training further and also keep injuries at bay during the long run. There are many forms of warm-ups, static and dynamics. Speak to your gym trainer to know which will work best for you and when you need to do it.
The plethora of information available online is overwhelming at times. But, at the same time you need to be patient with your body in order to yield good results. Don't get discouraged by the above mistakes or if you have been doing it.
We at Gym St Charles are here to help you reach your fitness goal. With fully qualified personal trainers on hand at our Gyms in STC Parks, there couldn’t be anyone better suited to answering your questions.
So, before you lace up, grab your telephone and contact us right away or just drop in!

6 Reasons Why Women Should Lift Weights
A woman's idea of the perfect body has changed over time. Starting from women with curves, then women with skinny bodies and now ladies want the shaped body. Nowadays, getting in shape is one of the things that most women want. If you want to transform your body then we at St Charles Gym guide you in achieving your fitness goals!

There is a negative prejudice around lifting weights which is a common mis-belief that is holding women back from achieving their fitness goals. There is nothing more mesmerizing to a man than to see a woman commanding a respectable amount of weight at the gym. It’s empowering. But most importantly lifting weights can add more muscle mass at the same time boost your metabolism. Continued practice will turn your body into more efficient fat burning machine. So don't be scared of getting into at St Charles Gym, we will make it your second home!
6 Reasons Why Women Should Lift Weights
Builds Stronger Bones
As we grow, bone health becomes more and more important. Along with calcium, vitamin D and other bone support nutrients, weight lifting increases bone density. By lifting weights you can protect yourself against osteoporosis- a disease affecting several people in the US, 80 percent of which are women. When you lift weights, you connect muscles that pull on the ligaments which in turn, pull onto the bones. This additional stress makes bones stronger.
Strengthens your Brain
Muscles strengthen both your body and your brain. According to a new analysis printed in the May 2012 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, a mixture of mentally motivating activities like using a system and exercise (which incorporated walking and other cardio as well as strength training and sports activities) helped improve the brain function in older adults. The combination of system use with moderate exercise can reduce the risk of memory loss more than either one activity on its own.
Burns Fat
While working out, you are training your muscle tissues but you are also burning calories. Although cardio burns more calories than strength training during your 30-minute session, lifting weights burns more overall.
Helps You Get More Energy
Lifting weights allows your body to become tough and powerful. The body also delivers oxygen to your vital organs, so you will have more energy to perform your daily chores.
Relieves Stress
Lifting weights helps induce pleasure by releasing a happy hormone called endorphins. This chemical released in your brain can beat the blues! Exercise reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, potentially relieving feelings of anxiety and agitation leaving you more relaxed and keeps stress at bay. Are you are not feeling overwhelmed at work! At college or by life in general? Step into the gym at St Charles and everything will become much simpler and you will feel less stressed.
Improves Your Health
Have you ever felt great after a workout? We have learned a lot of benefits of lifting weights on our bodies. Studies prove that women who practice weight lifting are less likely to have heart diseases and other health problems like diabetes, obesity, arthritis and depression.
If you want to empower and enrich your life, contact us today at St Charles Gym and you’ll be amazed at how fast you’ll build STRENGH!

How to bring discipline into your child’s life, without being harsh to them?
To maintain and nurture a healthy and happy family life, you need to be an expert in every way. Especially, when it comes to raising children, you must follow good parenting skills. Needless to say, teaching discipline to your child is one of the trickiest jobs on this planet but it only makes you a complete human being at the end of the day. And every parent would want their child to be at their best behavior at all times. By just following a good parenting guide available at St Charles Preschool, very efficiently you can fix all the mistakes you have done previously or about to do in the future. Such skills only bring out the greatest nature in you as well as your child, providing you with the ultimate peace of mind and satisfaction.
During the course of your child's development the word "discipline" refers to the means by which the child is trained and character is built. For example: When teaching a child to use proper manners, they will become disciplined by repetition of certain words such as "please" and "thank you." This constantly reinforced guide of behavior means that the child, is being disciplined to accept that pattern.

At times, during the course of the child's life when the discipline will also need some form of punishment. For example: Grant the child with two options, either he does his assignment right away or cleans the dishes for the rest of the week. Most kids are smart enough to see that they are far better off doing their homework. If they should decide to clean the dishes instead, then tell them "Ok, you will be cleaning the dishes each night this week instead of doing your homework right now. I will give you one hour to play before you do your homework but then you will do your homework or you will also be barred from watching television until next Monday." This is the "two choices" form of discipline with the possible outcome of a penalty which almost always works.
The optimistic approach to discipline is to get your child to obey your request cheerfully! By simply questioning them, "Hey kids, do you’ll want to go to the toy store with me?" "Yes, we’ll come!" "Alright, I want your rooms all cleaned up, spick and span" Always be sure to check that they didn't throw things in the wardrobe or under the bed. In case they have, give them some time to put it back into place. If they fail to do it then they will have to wait until the room is neat and tidy. If not they don’t get to go to the toy store at all.
Yelling is counter-productive when attempting to discipline! For your child to listen and learn from you, you must remain calm and reliable. If you are yelling at the child they will most likely tune you out and will not show you the respect. So, it is best to have the child go to his or her room, sit on their bed and think about what they have done. This gives you time to compose yourself and decide the best way to handle the situation.
If you want to get something done and you know the child will against doing it, use reverse psychology to get it down. It really motivates a child to do things with great passion and enthusiasm. By simply questioning them, "I wish there was somebody stronger who could assist me in moving this huge sack of food grains!" The child will tell you he is strong enough to do it. On his attempt encourage him by replying "Take care, That sack is very heavy for you to move it!" The child understands your trouble and will try to help you no matter what, not knowing he is been getting trained. Then be sure to tap his back and reward him for his exceptional strength! Make sure to share this achievement with his classmates/friends when he is around. Going forward he will soon be doing any tasks that is told to him.
Always communicate with your child as it’s a key element in apt development and fine moral character building of your child. Make them feel special, as it will make them open up to you more gladly. In addition, each experiment is a big part of their learning curve. At times this means the child will do something unwisely, on this they will need your support, love, and communication as to why they behaved in this manner, including what consequences could have happened and how they could have made better choices.
Your child’s future is in your hands; if they are left without discipline he or she is going to be less happy, less productive, less focused and the situation may go out of hand. So you have to be consistent, make sure they take you seriously at all times and refrain from a rebellious and defiant spirit.
If you put these disciplinary values into effect, your child will be a blessing to raise and a treasure to your heart till the last day of your life. At, St Charles Preschool he/she will continue to implement the same practices when raising their own children in the future. Call us now!

How Summer Camp Provides the Building Blocks for Life!
When we were kids, we all just desperately waited for summer holidays to arrive so we can make the most of it in the summer camps. It was so much fun and enthusiasm to be away from home and enjoy activities that taught you values and life lessons that you included in your day to day life. Well, it’s your turn now to make your kids experience the same. Every parent would want their child to be extra cautious and have the best life experiences/lessons in order to live a healthy and better life. Keeping the above in mind we at St Charles Preschool aim to improve lives by empowering kids, supporting them to exceed their potential goals.

We provide a thoughtful and caring environment to help your kid grow and develop relations with other children and adults through our summer camp programs. Here, we assist in nurturing your child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth through appropriate educational group activities and creative, free play. We also let you child venture outdoors keeping weather into consideration.
Below are some vital life lessons that kids/teens learn from our activities/programs at St Charles Preschool
Promotes Healthy Lifestyle Â
According to a survey done, obesity in children has doubled, and in teens has quadrupled, in the last 30 years. Thanks to the many activities and programs conducted in the camp which offers kids to stay busy, alert and physically active. More camps are also working to offer healthier food options for their campers. According to a 2014 study in the American Journal of Health Behavior, camps which provide nutritious foods are more likely to turn out the kids who eat more fruits and vegetables. Many camps now offer cooking and gardening tracks where teens learn how to prepare nourishing meals all by themselves.
Enhances Self-Confidence
70 percent of parents reported that their kid gained self-confidence while at summer camp. Whether they work through homesickness or undertake an action that pushed them outside of their comfort zone, kid’s walk away feeling strong, confident and independent.
Helps Kids Unplug & Make Friends
In a disturbing digital world, the camp especially offers precious room where kids can slow down, breath, connect and focus. Away from the pressures, social structure of school, one of the finest parts of camp is the chance for kids to make new friends and build fresh relationships.
Reintroduces Kids To Nature
Kids are mostly attached to life in school and further unplug themselves from the natural world. Hence, camp provides kids the perfect chance to see what they’ve been missing in the enormous outdoors.
Promotes Teamwork
Whether they’re working to build a sand castle, playing a game, or preparing a meal together, kids learn to solve the problem to achieve their goals. Through teamwork, kids learn that they are an essential part of the camp where they can feel a sense of acceptance and belonging.
Encourages Personal Growth
While camps may simply seem like a typical summer activity for kids to learn to swim and sing around a bonfire, they can be rewarded with personal development skills that can help them in the school and their relationships.
Nurture Social Skills
The summer camp is a place that is away from home and school where the kids learn to work with each other and adult mentors, build relationships, manage conflict and have fun.
So, what are you waiting for! Come and experience fun and learning together with loads of activities to choose from only at St Charles Preschool.

What happens to muscles when you stop working out?
When you go to gym regularly and exercise, you develop a routine which makes you fit and strong. Motivation and fitness goals are at its peak. But ever what will happen you stop working out suddenly? Taking a rest day is fine but what if those days turn into weeks, months without exercise. This workout break would make you think over few questions related to your health: “Am I losing my muscles?” or “Am I gaining weight?”

There could be a lot of reasons for a break – work, family obligations, vacations, etc. Even the most committed fitness enthusiasts may opt for a break due to sore muscles, illness, or some injury. Sometimes your body needs rest and recovery depending upon the intensity of workout in order to repair muscle fibers. However, extended breaks which may go beyond a week or two will lead to lose of muscle strength. You might end up losing the beneficial effects of weight training. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as “detraining” or “deconditioning" which results in reduced physical fitness. Detraining mostly affects elite athletes, who begin to experience adverse changes in body composition along with weakened metabolic functions.
Although the time to lose fitness levels vary from person to person and depends on how long as well as actively you’ve been exercising, even the religious gym-goers will end up with muscle loss after a long break. It is because when they stop working out, the body suffers from physiological changes and you begin to lose the cardiovascular gains. When you stop exercising, you will undeniably observe visible changes in your muscles.  You will even experience reduced muscular endurance, if you’ve been lifting heavy weights or doing high intensity exercise.
Nevertheless, there is nothing to worry about deconditioning can be reversed by becoming active again. You can definitely diminish losses during a detraining period and you can regain your previous level. Here’s what you can rather do:
·        Start with light activities such as walking, yoga and cardio.
·        Begin chair workout and add stairs to your daily routine.
·        Maintain healthy diet and consume protein to reduce muscle loss
In this whole process, patience and persistence is a must. You can recover from every loss as detraining is just a part of your fitness journey. Allow us to become part of your fitness trip. Join our gym in St. Charles and begin your regaining process all over again.

How to Encourage Your Child to Become an Active Preschooler?
Preschools shape up kids and enhance their capabilities to cope up with various situations by strengthening their social and emotional development. It is very essential for parents to think it as a responsibility to encourage and motivate their children to come out of their comfort zone. Preschools provide ample amount of opportunities to learn many things while improving their skills.

Allow your child to participate proactively!
· Choose a fun activity:
You will need to find out which sport your child loves the most and enjoy playing. If they enjoy their activities, they are more likely to develop skills to succeed in that sport. Being responsible parents, you will have to figure your child’s interests and support them becoming pro in that field.
· Give them active toys:
Young minds easily adapt to new activities. Allow your children to enjoy with toys that teach them something. There are lots of active toys available in the market for children according to their ages that fun and educational too. Children learn amazing creativity, enhances their problem solving abilities and what not!
· Limit TV and video games:
You should trigger off your kids to spend more time outdoors engaging in physical activities such as cycling and running than watching TV or playing video games. Try to increase their play time and limit screen time each day as it affects their eyes as well. Allow them to use their free time to learn new sport.
· Be a role model:
If you want your child to do something, then you need to do the same. Children at young age try to imitate their parents. So you’ll have to actively participate in your child’s activities to encourage him. Allow time to play with them and read with them to promote healthy habits early on in life.

How does Pre School Help in Child Development?
Preschool is the second home for your children where they get new experience and learn to live outside their comfort zone of home. It is first place where kids spend time and interact with other children to make friends. It is an excellent opportunity to help your kids explore their hidden interests and talents. Preschools are meant to give them exposure that will help them and prepare for bright future ahead. Therefore, it is important to choose it wisely as it will ease the learning capabilities of your children.

Preschools shape up your child and help in development by building a broad base for lifelong learning. Below are the things your kids get to learn.
·Self care:
Every child is pampered a lot at home which might restrict them to know how challenging life is outside. When they join preschool, they get to understand the importance of self worth and self growth. They learn to take care of themselves along with helping other. They learn to share things and understand the responsibility.
 · Creativity:
Children are adaptive when they are young. They get to explore their creative minds while engaging in a lot of activities at preschools. When they are exposed to numerous activities, they tend to find out their hidden talents with imaginative minds.
 ·Social  and emotional Development:
Preschools give chance to kids to interact with other kids, teachers and parents that help them gain confidence of building relationships and communications. They are trained to work and play in groups for developing their social skills.
Enroll your child in St. Charles Preschool for the all round development and foundation of basic learning. Our teachers will assist in nurturing your child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development through developmentally-appropriate and educational group activities and imaginative free play. We encourage children to:
· Socialize with peers to learn etiquette, respect and cooperation.
· Gain exposure to basic math concepts, alphabets and numbers.
· Practice fine motor skills with various hands-on activities.
· Promotes gross motor skills with participation in physical activities such as climbing, running, riding tricycle and kicking a ball.
· Explore creative awareness through music, art and science.
