LITERALLY JOURNALISM

THE FORGOTTEN HERO
In the pages of Philippine history, there's a hero not everyone knows about—Miguel Malvar. He was born in a small town called Santo Tomas in Batangas on September 27, 1865. Malvar's life was full of challenges, but he never gave up on his country.
When the Spanish ruled the Philippines, Malvar joined a group called the Katipunan. They fought for freedom from Spanish rule. Malvar was a smart leader, so people called him "Supremo."
Later, when America came to the Philippines, there was another war. Malvar fought hard against them too. He didn't want his country to be controlled by another country.
After a while, Malvar became the president of the Philippines. But he didn't have much time to do big things because the war had left the country in a mess.
Even though Malvar did a lot for his country, many people don't know about him. Some say it's because he didn't like being famous. Others think it's because the bigger heroes of the time got more attention.
But even if not everyone remembers him, Malvar's bravery and love for his country live on. He's a reminder that even small heroes can make a big difference. And as the sun sets in his hometown, his story keeps shining bright for all to hear.
MEMOIR

FAMILY
Life is too unpredictable, much like the encounters with different people we face each day, where their roles in our lives remain unknown. I'm Stephanie Nicole Correa, a 17-year-old residing in Imus Cavite. One thing I deeply enjoy is writing because it allows me to express my emotions.
At a tender age, my parents separated, leading me to live with my grandmother, who could only provide basic necessities. However, I yearned for more - to be loved and seen beyond the lens of my mother's perceived failures. Initially, I sought attention by using money to manipulate people into doing things for me. But everything changed in 2014, during my grade school years, when I met someone I now fondly call "ate."
She became my best friend, teaching me the true meaning of family. Through her, I found acceptance and belonging. She and her family welcomed me with open arms, showering me with love and inclusion in their activities. They embraced me as one of their own, filling a void I had long felt. Their genuine affection became a source of comfort, providing me with the love I had never experienced before. To this day, they remain my pillars of support, the family I can always rely on, and the ones I am eternally grateful for.
In conclusion, life's uncertainties led me to discover the essence of true family through the unwavering love and acceptance of my dear friend and her family. They showed me that love knows no boundaries and that family extends beyond blood ties, forever shaping my definition of love and belonging.

REFLECTION ESSAY

IMPERFECTIONS
Life is not a smooth path, and everyone fears what the future holds. However, the younger version of me enjoys the present moment without being bothered by the past or the future. I am Stephanie Nicole Correa, a 17-year-old girl residing in Imus, Cavite.
When I was in junior high school, I met a lot of people who became my friends, and I felt like I was already at home. I didn't feel lost; instead, I only felt the happiness they made me feel. Furthermore, I felt free in a way that I could do things my grandmother restricted me from doing, such as drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and even cutting classes. I excessively engaged in these activities, expecting my performance in school to suffer. Despite still being an honor student in our class, my decisions were not something my grandmother should be proud of. It also affected how people and my family saw me, and, to be honest, they were disappointed in what I had done.
To conclude, I don't regret those things because they made me happy. Even though my decisions in the past were wrong, they shaped me into a person with the strength to face things alone, someone who understands what is good and bad, and always chooses to do the right thing as much as I can. Through those experiences, I learned that life is not a smooth path, and it doesn't matter who we were or what we did in the past. The only thing that matters is who we are now and who we will be tomorrow.
