THE HUNTING WIVES has a stupid title, but it's a rare modern show that dares to ask the really important questions, like, "What if you were trapped in fucking Texas, and MILFy bisexual Malin Åkerman wanted to get in your pants, but she was a right-wing megachurch-going gun nut who might frame you for Crimes?"

In early season one, Sawyer and Shannon act the way they act in large part because when they try to be who they want to be, they’re dismissed, ridiculed, etc.

In The Moth, Sawyer is trying so hard to participate and help out and fit in, and Kate shuts him down at every turn and assumes the worst (which is somewhat fair, but also not really imo).

She doesn’t know him well enough to know he’s being genuine, but when he gets scorned, he essentially just says “fuck it, guess I’ll be who they think I am.” Why should he be any different when he’s only rewarded with distrust and sarcastic comments any time he tries to be kind?

(And despite all that, he still takes the time to light off the rocket for Sayid’s plan.)

Shannon is in a similar boat, though really the only one who gives her any flak is Boone. He tells her she’s worthless, selfish, etc. so she doesn’t feel she has any incentive to be different, until she starts spending time with Sayid.

What I’m saying is, I love James Ford and Shannon Rutherford, and if you don’t, please stay far away from me 😂
