It's September again (holy shit 💀) which means Murph's birthday is coming up 🎂 they will be three years old on the 20th!! Wow!!

As is tradition I will draw something of them to celebrate but I haven't decided what yet, and I might do an interactive "ask the OC" Q&A thing too because I haven't done one of those in years and they're fun!!

Honestly loving all the different takes on this lol. It was very much my intention to strike some kind of grey area so this exact thing would happen and there would be mixed reception. Just to be clear there is no "correct" interpretation of these events in my eyes, I believe in Nuance and I don't mind if people think it's fine or awful (mainly because it's not in the main story anymore so I don't have to feel guilty about it lmao)

well, firstly, you must tell us Murph's involvement in Loving Gf's death. So we can properly justify them.

Loving GF (known henceforth as Frankie) was a fellow member of the Emperor’s Coven who Steve actually met while still at high school at an EC hopefuls summer camp. She went to a different school but they stayed in touch and when Steve made it into the EC (one year post Murph betrayal) they start dating. They were both about 18-19 at the time. Frankie was a Plant track witch, very devout and goals-oriented. From Steve's perspective, she goes out on a mission and does not return with her comrades. They reported a fight occuring with a wild witch in the woods, and no sign of her afterwards. Steve never heard from her again and took it as a ghosting breakup, which got him pretty down because he thought they were doing pretty good. There was no trace of her to be found, and the eventual eventual consensus was that she deserted the coven out of fear.

Frankie was part of one of the first groups to encounter Murph as the Rustwarden as their villain arc was beginning. Their party hunted and ambushed Murph, who fought back against being captured and lost control of their powers. All the scouts managed to escape except for Frankie who continued to fight, and it got messy. She was very zealous and truly believed wild witches were evil. Murph was not deliberately fighting to kill but in the chaos Frankie was knocked from a great height and broke her neck. Murph could have healed and saved her, but out of spite did not and let her die. Knowing that a dead body in the woods near a reported site of a fight with them would have them accused of murder, they buried the body in a place that would hopefully never be found and stole her uniform for a disguise. Using illusions, they used Frankie's face at least once to get past guards or fake a confirmed sighting of her so nobody suspected her disappearance as a death.

Years later, in the rebellion with Steve, they hear about Steve's former love, and from his description and putting the timeline together, they realize that Frankie was that dead body. They know this for months and don't tell Steve because they know it would significantly impact their potential future relationship. They eventually confess once the finale is over because they want a clean slate, and whether or not Steve ever forgives them is something I never figured out because this plotline was too miserable and I didn't want to keep it in
