Glob Herman Pom Pom Beanie
The young mutant called Glob Herman has skin that is completely transparent and made up of bio-paraffin, or "living wax". Though he lives among other mutants, Glob Herman easily stands out.
We’re all a little different - Glob inspires others to live their life: mutant and proud. I made a Neon Pink hat for X-folks to be just as bold.

Turning Digital Art to a Painting with Neon Paint
I’ve put a lot of work into my digital art process, but I’ve been determined to start painting with good old fashioned paint and canvas. I decided not to dive in headfirst, did some research, and found a pretty cool method to get started with this new style experiment. Since I’ve already put work into composition and line art for my digital work, I decided that my end goal would be to make gigantic versions of these on huge canvases.
I’d hang a giant canvas on the wall, project the artwork from my computer onto the canvas, and copy the general image shapes to ensure I keep the proper proportions while drawing at such a large scale. Before I spend the money on a bunch of huge canvases and rearranging my house to accommodate all these new materials, I figured I should just start out with 16x20 canvases and take it from there.
I bought the following materials from Amazon:
I bought this cheap, $50 Projector with pretty low expectations. I knew that I wasn’t going to get HD quality projections, but that it would help me to scale my artwork up to larger sizes. This does the trick, but the quality is really, really low. The image is very pixelated, but I was able to see the image clearly enough to make sure my outlines would be exactly the same as they were in the original.
I knew that I wanted them to share the same black, smooth background as my digital art, so I bought Black Canvases and Black Spray Paint. Without at least one coat of the black spray paint, the canvas would absorb all of my dots and I’d have to do more than 4-5 coats. To create my dot patterns, I thought of nail technicians and the Dotting Tools that they use to paint tiny little dot patterns. Last came the color, and I found a set of inexpensive, Neon Paints to experiment with.
Painting has been really, really relaxing and it’s very satisfying to finish large sections. One challenge has been that I now have to stop working to allow paint to dry, which feels like such a limitation. after being able to spend hours on something right away.

I Made a Katya
Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova , lovingly known as Katya , is one of my favorite drag personalities. Created by Brian McCook, Katya’s an amalgamation of slapstick, classic beauty, grotesque humor, fashion, art, and just plain FUN.
Although I was a huge fan of hers on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 and RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars Season 2, I really fell in love with her on her show UNHhhh, where she paired with fellow Drag Race alum Trixie Mattel for an insane, geniusly irreverent web series full of green screen hijinks that you’ve got to see to appreciate. I loved the glittery goodness of the Christmas-y photo with the long blonde hair and white fluffy hat, and absolutely love the short wig she’s wearing in the Instagram photo on the right. It seems like it’s one of her favorites as you catch her in it quite a lot and I was excited to try to merge the two into a drawing that would match some of my other work.
About my drawing: after drawing Trixie Mattel in all of her gold glory, I just kept imagining a little series of drag superstars. Since all of my art and illustrations are done digitally on my Surface Pro nowadays, it’ll be easy to merge them together into one larger piece. I did have a problem with Katya: she’s too pretty! Trixie’s makeup lends itself to illustration; although beautiful, it barely resembles reality (she’s a self described caricature of a caricature of a woman) making the almost cartoon like eyes an easier thing to replicate.
Ultimately, I’d like to draw Katya and Trixie in several frames like I did for some of the people from my character concept pages, and then animate them into some sort of funny fight scene.
Go adore Katya at her website here: WeLoveKatya.com
And go enjoy UNHhhh with Katya & Trixie Mattel here: UNHhhh on the WOWPresents Youtube channel.

Drawing of a Man Step by Step
I spent a few hours over the weekend drawing this bearded guy with the goal of practicing some candlelight lighting effects and trying to practice adding a few objects in the background.
I’m pretty happy with the result! You can click on the images below to see different levels of progress.

2018 Character Sketchbook
The presentation below has all of the character worksheets I’ve been working on throughout 2018. Each shows a character at all different stages, from paper and pencil sketches to drawings that I’ve used for animation frames.
Powerpoint is a great way to gather assets for building a portfolio and for comparing various iterations of a character.
It’s also always ready to throw up onto a larger screen and share.
Use the left and right arrows below to navigate through the book, which I’ve hosted on Issuu.

Trixie Envy
I made a drawing of Trixie Mattel! I drew out a version of her look from her photo shoot from the Mic magazine article where she was promoting her SugarPill cosmetics line.
I didn’t do the original outfit justice - she has a lot of cool detail and puffy sleeves reminiscent of Princess Daisy from Nintendo. I do like how her hair came out in my illustration, and I’m going to write up a tutorial on how to get that glitter effect I used on the dress.
I saw her at the Wiltern theater this year for my birthday and she put on an amazing show!
Original Article by Evan Ross Katz at Mic with the photos I used for inspiration :

Ugh! I love the main image, too!

Redrawing Old Demons
That title sounds so serious. I’ve been creating character concepts for enemies that my characters can fight against. It was important to be able to come up with something that would be easy to create variations of.  Since I’m working on attack and spell casting animations, I thought the next step in animation would be to create full fledged battles, so this is the first step towards that!
I created a trio of demons last year for Halloween that I had really liked. I pulled out the old drawing and started to recreate them in a new style that I could use as a reference pose for animations down the line. I was deliberate in making all of the body shapes identical. I can essentially draw and animate the line art one time, simply recoloring the characters and adding a custom head to create a lot of variation in the lil’ demons.
The goal was to play around with patterns and glow effects in Photoshop to create an assortment of dynamic, demonic dudes that would be easy to animate multiples of. These were a bit quick and a little sloppy, but I like them enough to come back to them later.
I’ll need to come up with a few clothing options that are easy to animate, too.
We’ll see!
As a reward for reading one of my first blog posts, please enjoy the reference photo for the demon illustration: the Backstreet Boys.

Welcome!
Thanks for checking out my artwork!
I’m using this site as a place to compile all of my digital artwork in one place. I’m big on video games, and right now I’ve spending my free time sketching and coming up with character ideas, then drawing out multiple poses in Photoshop and later animating them using After Effects.
The characters shown on this site are my own creations, and I use them consistently to allow myself to build characters over time while learning new technical skills.
