Esther’s Law Cameras in Nursing Homes Dear Representative Brent, Senator Antonio and Senator Brenner, we need Esther's Law passed as soon as possible. This pandemic of the corona virus is a perfect example of why we need cameras in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. While we worry about this crisis we must also worry about the care being given to our loved ones. Get this law passed as soon as possible, we support Steve Piskor and SB 255 and HB 461. [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], Please copy and past the paragraph above in an email, and send it to the three emails listed. You can say anything else you want. Ohio Senate Bill 255 and Ohio House  Bill 461 are Esther’s Law, it will allow residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities to place a camera in their room.  This is not a mandatory law and all privacy rights are in place.  The law is very simple is you want a camera put one in, if you don’t want one, don’t put one in.  In the case of a roommate that does not want a camera, the other will still have their right to be free of abuse and neglect and put in a camera only pointed at them. Please call and email Ohio Legislators and tell the to pass Esther’s Law.

Nursing Home Abuse
I placed a hidden camera in my mother’s nursing home room and caught 8 aid abusing her.  The story was covered by Media world wide. One went to prison for 10 ½ years, one went to jail for six months, three were fired and three were disciplined.  Now the one in prison is trying to get an early release.  I caught a small portion of the abuse over a six week period.  The one  in prison was my mother’s aid for the entire 30 months she was in this nursing home.  This aid should not receive special treatment.  She must serve her entire sentence.  She brutally abused my 78 year old mother who had Alzheimer’s, non verbal and non  ambulatory.  Over a six month period I suspected something was wrong.  I filed five complaints with the Ohio Department of Health, police reports, ombudsman reports and many reports to the administration of the nursing home.  All were denied and they treated me like a trouble maker.  They said I have no proof, so I placed a hidden camera in her room and gave them the proof they wanted to see.  No one should be treated like this, elderly abuse must be stopped in nursing homes.  We must make them and politicians responsibly.  The Department of Health should not investigate nursing home abuse crimes.  They are not qualified to do so.  The local police with the State attorney General must conduct the investigation.  Many states are now allowing camera’s to be placed in nursing home residents rooms.  We must stop lobbyist who oppose this and pay off politicians not to vote for nursing home reform.   Sign the petition and stop the early release of Virgen Caraballo.

Gypsy Violins by Steve Piskor
Gypsy Violins by Steve Piskor
Gypsy - also known as Roma, Romani, Romany, the Hungarian Gypsy Orchestra Symphony is well known throughout Europe and the United States, the basic instruments  are,  a Primas (lead violin player), cimbalom, second violin, viola and bass, and many originate from Budapest, Hungary.  The Gypsies in the book are of the same Roma in Europe. They immigrated to the U.S.A. in the late 19th century bringing with them the traditional Hungarian Slovak Gypsy music.
"Gypsy" the word is considered a derogatory word, and some feel it is the same as using the "N" word.  All Romani are not in agreement with this.  The "N" word was used derogatory.  Gypsy is not always associated in a demeaning way.  If I changed the name of the book to "Roma Violins" it changes the whole meaning of the book.  Hungarian Gypsy music is not Romani music.  This book does not use the word "Gypsy" in a derogatory form.  We need to educate non roma people,  and get the Roma to change and become an important part of this changing world.
