        “Well you must have some resources. Food, clean          water?” Raven urged. “There’s not a lot one can g-          ain from this forest, I have less than you.” Raven h-          opped off their branch and watched the other strug-          gle, following the rope to see where it came from.

        “You know it’s not often man falls for their own traps.”

Meals included and all.❞ The least he could do was help his mom out, right? Any traveler or wanderer was a potential ticket to winning her favor.

                           Or something.

        “I hope by ‘bargain’ you mean ‘free’. All          I have is a piece of silver, and I don’t e-          ven know if that’s a currency here.” Ra-          ven held the coin between their fingers.         “And I gotta tell you right now, manual l-          abour ain’t my thing, so doing dishes for          a roof over my head is a no-go.”

      “ WAIT, I - I haven’t been bothering you, have I?  I         didn’t meant to rant. People don’t usually listen to         me but you were so I thought–  I’ll be quiet now.”         Normally he didn’t confide in strangers so much,         but the stress was overwhelming him.

        “Nah, I’m fully awake now. You might as          well continue rambling on about whatev-          er it was.” Raven had learned if they let          people talk for long enough they give the-          m things. Perhaps this kid had food on h-          im. Raven had given up on sleep, maybe          there was some other reward past this h-          uman angst.
