Research
For the research of this project I looked into the work that Laika studios does for this project. They combine claymation models and stop motion in order to create their films. They've done work that has been widely recognized such as Coraline, Paranorman and Kubo and the Two Strings. Their projects take years and years to create, as adjusting movement frame by frame is an intense and tedious process. At first I was wondering how the process could take so long but after going through it I can see why. We had simple ingredients and not detailed characters with emotion, and still going frame by frame was a day long process on both occasions. A day could be equivalent to 30 secs depending on framerate, can't imagine the amount of effort it would take for detailed sets. Another YouTube channel I looked into was PES, who makes stop motion cooking using everyday products like legos to look like food. This concept is interesting because there is no cooking involved, but it effectively creates the illusion that real food is being made. This is because of the motions and the sounds that are paired with the final video. Which is an element I suggest we add into our video to give it more life. This made Kayley create sound effects to go with the voices she did as well

Day 4: Editing on Timeline
Once I received everything from Kayley and Bryan (SFX, and Animated Faces) I was responsible for fixing up the video and putting everything together (timing sounds) for this I used colour correction and lens distortion to correct elements of the video that I felt need adjustment while controlling the audio levels for a smooth experience. I also added a title sequence that would fill up some of the empty spaces in our video as we didn't have a proper introductory sequence.

Day 3: Composing
The mood of our project was a happy and bright mood so I wanted to create a beat that sounded simple and upbeat. Going too complex would take away from the stop motion and could actually end up being distracting. I used a guitar loop and some drums in order to create some nice sounding background noise. I also had to time the beat to match the timing of the video we have planned as well, which resulted in some changes to the beat here and there.

Day 2: Re-filming
We went into the re-shoot day with an idea of how to efficiently take stop motion images. Our first improvement was getting a space with a bright backdrop and having lot's of room to work with. We also utilized lighting to provide even lighting throughout and minimized any shadows we would have had otherwise. When it came to filming, rather than touching the camera (which would have it move and could ruin the frames consistency), we opted to use a tethering system in order to be able to quickly take pictures without having to climb up to the camera everytime. One person would adjust the frame and one person would take the picture. This worked to create a much cleaner video overall.

Day 1: Filming
Our project began filming at my apartment on a bit of a questionable setup with limited control on lighting and height and angle adjustment for our camera. We ended up taking 600 photos to create a minute long short, calculating around 10 frames per second. Results were underwhelming as the scene was dark and moody for a project that was meant to be upbeat and cheerful.
