but i didn't give them chimera teams either so that fixed nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Emily's MOTHER 3 Pokemon AU!
Okie poki, I said I would do this ages ago when I first came up with ideas for it, guess who's finally in the mood to write it up 😎
So, this is an idea for an AU I had that essentially turns MOTHER 3 into the Pokemon universe! It's mostly just a worldbuilding idea, I have no plans to turn it into a story or anything (though I do have some ideas for what the essential plot as a Pokemon-type thing would be), and doing art for it would be fun but I have ZERO motivation to draw anything at the moment.
This is much different than I think "Pokemon AUs" usually tend to be (though I'm definitely not an expert!) Most startlingly is that there's... no pokemon in it :P You COULD very much do this idea with actual pokemon without really changing anything, I just didn't end up conceiving of it that way haha Instead, this AU is more about borrowing elements of the Pokemon series to twist MOTHER 3 into something that resembles that universe, if that makes sense. As a disclaimer, I do also change and discard some elements of MOTHER 3's plot! PSI is an element I don't think would really come up, and the backstory to the Islands has some pretty major shifts. (As another disclaimer I've only played Diamond, watched some of the anime and generally am not a Pokemon fan lol, I casually like the aesthetics and that's really the extent of my involvement with the series)
I'm a very small blog and I don't think this idea will have very much widespread appeal, but if anyone sees this and feels inspired to do something based on it (art, fic, your own ideas that borrow or change things from what I've thought of), feel free to!
The Nowhere Islands
This, of course, is the main setting of the AU! Unlike its M3 counterpart however, the Islands are much more populated, with different towns and cities scattered all across the country, connected by routes and highways. It's essentially a much more-expansive version of the post-timeskip modernized Island in the original game. One of the main lore changes is that humans have lived on the Islands for several generations by this point, long enough that few remember the time before the arrival of...
The Chimeras
Years ago, these strange creatures showed up all across the Islands and started causing chaos. Luckily, the inhabitants of Nowhere learned to domesticate them, and now humans and chimeras coincide with each other - though wild chimeras still run loose in the wilderness.
POKICORP
The benevolent savior of the Nowhere Islands! Soon after the appearance of the chimeras, this humble tech corporation devised a way to control them. With their patented pokiballs, chimeras could be caught and domesticated. They quickly rocketed to fame, and now POKICORP spans all across the Islands, responsible for all modern infrastructure and technological developments! With the taming of chimeras, POKICORP has also pioneered a number of novel new institutions centered around them: citizens of Nowhere can now register to become chimera trainers, catching and training chimeras, with the ultimate dream of every trainer to top the chimera league and be crowned the POKICORP champion. Meanwhile, normal citizens can watch chimera contests, tournaments, even chimera-themed cartoons on their POKI-brand happy boxes, sitting in POKI-brand comfort surrounded by every kind of POKI-branded merchandise you could imagine.
The Pigmasks
The "team" of this AU, a band of thugs that have sprung up to cause all sorts of trouble, using the roughest, toughest, baddest chimeras to aid in their crimes. POKICORP strongly denounces this organization, and advises that anyone heard spreading unfounded conspiracies of a connection between the two should be disregarded and silenced.
Lucas
I'm sure you've all been waiting for the characters, so let's get into the main character himself...
Lucas is a young boy from the small town of Tazmily, very much the Pallet Town of this world. Like all children his age, he's grown up admiring the world of chimera training, eagerly awaiting the day he can set out on his very own POKICORP-sponsored adventure.
However, that adventure doesn't play out how he always thought it would...
As you can imagine, this Lucas is basically a cross between M3 Lucas and your classic Red/Ash/Whoever pokemon trainer protagonist. I picture him with his classic striped shirt, along with a backpack, a red POKI-branded baseball cap, and a belt for carrying his pokiballs. Though his goal is to catch and train chimeras, his number one companion is his faithful pet Boney - a perfectly normal dog, but who promises to be as useful as even the strongest chimera.
Lucas was of course heavily influenced by a neverending barrage of POKICORP propaganda since his birth, with his ultimate goal being a dream that POKICORP has worked very hard to sell to kids just like him. By meeting some oddball friends and getting to peek behind POKICORP's curtain however, he transforms into a true hero...
Claus
Lucas' twin brother, confident, feisty, and deadset on becoming the POKICORP champion. He sets off on his adventure first and starts making it big in record time. Eventually, he even makes his way in with POKICORP itself, who give him all their support in crafting him into the finest chimera trainer on the Islands. He knows he's destined to become the ultimate chimera master, the champion, the hero...
Claus is completely consumed by the POKICORP dream, far more than even Lucas was. He's a mix of several different Pokemon roles: he's the rival, the champion, and the team leader. When Claus falls in with POKICORP, he starts carrying out their orders as the new boss of the Pigmasks, assured that he's on the road to achieving glory. All along, he thinks he's becoming the hero, but that was never in the cards for him. He was only ever intended to be the villain, to mold his own brother into the true hero, all for someone's sinister goals...
Porky Minch
The shadowy CEO of POKICORP, who no one has ever seen...
In the flesh, an ancient time traveler from 199X Eagleland, obsessed with his childhood and desperately seeking to revive it. Porky is, of course, Porky. He devised the chimeras to cause chaos, POKICORP to "solve" the problem and gain the people's undying loyalty, and the Pigmasks to carry out the shadier parts of his schemes. And over the course of decades, carefully conditioning the minds of every child on the Island to seek out adventure and glory, all for one single purpose: to create a hero. Someone just like who he used to play and fight with, who can finally pick up the game where it left off and keep it going.
Last few details
I think this covers all my most fleshed-out character and story ideas, so I'll just go over some other ideas, and a few things that are obviously important but I don't have any concrete ideas for.
Lucas' Family
I'd say Flint and Hinawa were probably chimera trainers themselves, though they've since retired. I don't really see either of them as major characters, and the Mecha-Drago incident likely doesn't happen - although one idea I've had is that late into the story, the Pigmasks begin terrorizing all the different cities, and Claus leads an attack on his own hometown...
Duster and Kumatora
I have no ideas for them, I feel like they'd proooobably be pretty similar to their original counterparts.
Character Teams
I haven't thought of any specific chimeras that any characters would use, aside from Boney being Lucas' "starter" and Claus would probably use the Mecha-Drago later on.
The Magi and the Needles
Again, no ideas unfortunately. Likely retain their basic roles and even them being PSI users, while I don't think the Needles would be part of the story. They'd be useful as a strictly non-POKICORP faction to help guide Lucas.
The Dragon
Probably the "legendary." Perhaps Porky needs a hero to capture it? I think it could have a place in the story but I'm unsure what. The story certainly wouldn't have the same ending as MOTHER 3, at least.
The Absolutely Safe Capsule
Take this as unseriously as you want it was a completely off the walls idea but I kinda love it POKICORP develops the ultimate "masterball," a modified pokiball that can capture any living being. Intended for the Dragon; used for something else.
Professor Yucca
I like the name but I could always change it! Your usual Pokemon professor character. Employed by POKICORP as essentially a spokesperson, teaching kids about the world of chimeras and chimera training. He demonstrates the rules and mechanics of chimera battles with the help of his trusty, currently un-chimeracized sidekick, Salsa the monkey.
Might be a bit surlier in person. Heads more than a few unethical experiments in the POKICORP labs. Very nasty laugh.
Alrighty, so that's my completely-pokemonless MOTHER 3 Pokemon AU! It's only an idea, but I'm pretty proud of it, I think it's a really fun world with a ton of potential, and I really love that I managed to stumble on a whole capitalist-consumerism theme with it ^^ I think that meshes well with MOTHER 3's original themes, and of course there's a lot to be said about how consumerist Pokemon as a franchise is, so it feels really perfect to me
Sorry for not making any posts in ages, I haven't really felt inspired lately and I feel weird posting about other fixations on this blog since it's been pretty singularly MOTHER-focused since I started it
Have a POKI-ful day! ♥

It's only one line, but does anybody else think about Monotoli's reaction to Pokey hijacking his helicopter? He seems pretty chill, considering he's got just one chance to make it up to the Chosen 4, only for Pokey to rob him of that opportunity.
But, unless I'm overlooking something, Monotoli is seemingly the only grownup to ever show concern for Pokey, and sounds genuine, too (even those who haven't seen Pokey at his worst look down on him for being an annoying brat). And he didn't even need to, considering he got brainwashed, used as a pawn, and ultimately left in the dust by Pokey. You'd think Monotoli would curse Pokey's name, but he doesn't. He flatout bears no grudge, and even worries for Pokey's safety in the end.
Monotoli (and anyone controlled by the Mani Mani statue for that matter) can be interpreted to be weak-willed, insecure, and ultimately mentally vulnerable individual that leaves him wide open to be dragged to the dark side, which pretty much just like Pokey himself. Though, the game goes out its way to show that Monotoli is not a bad guy-- he's shown to be rather timid and not at all like a corrupt politician upon snapping out of it.
Perhaps, Monotoli caught on to what's really up with Pokey. It's kind of a shame Pokey wouldn't be there to see that, though.
#reblog#ahahaha yesssss#obsessed with exploring monotoli and porky's relationship#of course things ended badly (the only way porky knows how to end things)#but i think porky looks back at his time with monotoli as one of the only times he was almost happy#i freaked out when i realized that the 100th floor of the empire porky building (the hall of memories specifically)#was styled exactly like his old office in the monotoli building
