Something a lot of Ranma fanfiction writers misunderstand is the whole thing about Soun needing one of his daughters to get married so he can secure the future of the dojo. This has nothing to do with casual misogyny, it would actually be the exact same if he had all sons. It's the marriage that's the important part, specifically giving the dojo as a wedding gift, because in Japan putting real estate in your will is basically donating it to the government with extra steps. The inheritance taxes are harsh. Giving the home your family lives in as a wedding gift is a loophole that Japanese parents have been using for so long that they didn't feel the need to explain it to a young teen audience.

James, 12 years later, became Regulus' Bodyguard.

There are two reasons James decided to train for the bodyguard decision. One - seeing Regulus being ripped away like that without any regard to what was going on haunted him in his dreams ever since. He couldn't forget the completely devastating look on his face. Two - He and his parents got punished for interacting carelessly with a royal. It wasn't allowed, after all. His parents could've prevented it, they said. Knowing that's what's going on just for someone speaking with Regulus, he didn't dare to think what would happen inside the castle.

Regulus didn't recognize James.

the funniest dynamc between my boyfriend and i is the chef/baker divide runs so deep. experimentally my boyfriend is a genius with figuring out what flavor profiles will not just taste good together but also will be enjoyed by the specific audience he is cooking for. a recipe is not a guidebook so much as a suggestion and he will frankenstein ideas together to get exactly what he wants to happen. he also didnt know that sugar will not work properly if you dont mix it with the wet ingredients in banana bread and when i asked 'why didnt you do it in the order of the recipe' he said 'i didnt really think it mattered'. autistically i exploded his head in my mind
