People that complained about Koki's VA switching are annoying(I saw it all over tik tok, youtube and reddit) and are also racist for saying the old voice sounded better. Her old VA was not black(first off) and her character ended up sounding like literal caricature a minstrely one. She didn't speak in "jive talk" but had the accent which also made her sound like a 48 yr old women out here running around with a bunch of characters who are in their 20s. She sounded older than Chris and Martin who are both in their 50s. Her new VA sounds much younger and closer to what age Koki is supposed to be portrayed as.

That's a disappointing aspect of the show I cannot comfortably view the past episodes with the kids I teach bc the voice is grating and she was on there for 6 1/2 seasons which is ridiculous. They all knew better than that.

I don't want to call names but the fic i was kinda reading was making Koki some ignorant asshole who didn't know what "bioluminescent" was?? She's a computer scientist and mechanical engineer, even people who don't know much about animals learned what THAT was in like middle school. They also made Chris like straight up hate her??

Its par for the course for fandoms to mischaracterize and ignore black characters in favor for lighter skinned/white counterparts. I've looked though tags and reblogs of the fandom for the past week. Not to say I ship any of them bc I grew up with the Kratts being real ppl on the screen not cartoons. But the stuff i've seen with Aviva vs how they do Koki is.....

(I was a zoboomafoo fan when i was kid and was curious about wild kratts. I help teach kids and we marathoned wild kratts every day for summer school).

The one thing I hate about checking out new fandom's fics as a black person is seeing how people write the black female character to be ignorant, angry, devoid of love and hated by other characters when they aren't like that in the show. People will write the literal show villain getting a redemption, but fuck the black characters huh?

Currently looking at you Wild Kratts A03 with some of the stories I saw but I've seen in it other fandoms as well.
