The Soca world has lost one of its rising stars. Artiste and radio personality Devon Matthews passed away last night. According to reports, Matthews collapsed backstage after performing at Tribes Festival of the Bands at St Mary's College Grounds. Matthews, who sang the De Journey with Ella Andall and placed third International Soca Monarch this year and was a host at Trinidad radio station Red 96.7FM. @carnivaltribe expressed condolences on their Instagram page this morning: --------------------------------- "The TRIBE family joins the rest of the nation in mourning the sudden passing of DJ, Soca artiste and cultural advocate Devon Matthews." "We offer sincere condolences to his family, friend and fans. The entertainment and cultural sector has lost a strong versatile talent whose star was on the rise." "He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace."
