I’ve come to the harrowing realisation that the only way to write my book is to write my book

Hello, my fellow writers of tumblr!
I have another big "boost writers" idea that I've had previously (aka like... two years ago) that I'm finally wanting to really focus more attention and time on, since I now have more time to focus on it...
It's called The Writeblr Rag and it's a newspaper ABOUT writeblr. I have a blog for it (@thewriteblrrag) and it's slowly been in the works over time... but I finally want to actually see if I can work up an idea for the first paper.
To the point: my fantasy writers, I want the first front page to be about a fantasy writer/WIP. So if you guys write fantasy, can you please let me know if you'd be interested in being on this front page?
It'd contain a little Q&A about your writing & WIP. I'd probably ask you about your writing processes, how you got into writing, etc. I also plan to have the writer featured on the games page as that paper's crossword puzzle. So I'd be combing through your blog for some words I could use for it. 🤔 so if you have ideas for words that you feel would be fairly easy to find but people would still have to go to your blog to find them, feel free to hint it at me!
If you're interested, reach out to me at @queerlilchinchin (my main blog) and we can see about details. If I get multiple people... I'm not sure what I'll do to decide who, but everyone can be featured, they just won't all be one the front page.
If you're still reading but you write other genres besides fantasy, please reach out to me and let me know (via the same blog as listed above) if you'd like to be featured on the first paper and I'll be also featuring a few other genres, most likely the ones I get the most submissions from.
Umm, what else... if you have friends you think might be interested, please tag them to this so they can see it and we'll see if they'd like to be in it!
I really want to finally kick this thing off, so let's see if anyone's still interested! Thanks ahead of time for any boosts.

When a student copies an essay online instead of writing it and then painstakingly changes every word to a synonym until the text no longer makes any sense...
call that the Ship of Thesaurus

You need at least a little bit of an inflated ego to try to be a professional creative. This does not mean that you love yourself. It means that you think people ought to pay attention to what you’re doing.

weird thing about writing is that like, even if no one decides to rep me and I don't get published and don't become a bestseller, if not one of those things happen, I've still got the book. I still have the story. It's a thing that you don't have to commit your entire life to but that you never have to give up if you don't want to.
it's just ingrained in my head that I will never stop writing, regardless of whether I'm empirically successful or not, cuz it's not about the success. It's always been about the stories.

Don't ever let anybody talk you out of writing or pursuing your passions. Every time you write, you're improving your craft. Every time you read, you're also improving your knowledge of the craft you love. Keep at it, give yourself and your art some grace, and some room to breathe. The only person who can ever stop you from writing is you, and wouldn't that be a shame? You'll never know who might be touched by your work if you give up on it now.

Author rant incoming, but I don't know what pisses me off more: lazy assholes who act like they're 'the real deal' because they have an AI make a book or story for them.
Or actual authors who have no class solidarity & use AI slop for their covers.
I can't be the only one who gets pissed at that. There is just so much here to say about how little solidarity there is between different types of creatives, how easily one group will get rid of another because they can save up on money or they already get most of the money. The recent strikes for actors and animators are proof enough that some people got theirs so they don't care about other creatives.
But as a writer who's dirt poor & STILL would never consider using AI for a book cover, I can't help but be bloody disappointed in these people.
It's like that adage of 'if you couldn't be bothered to make it, why should I be bothered to consume it?' Except it's 'if you couldn't be bothered to support a fellow creative, why should I support you?'

genuinely though, my condolences to the indie authors writing weird books, books without marketable romance, books without romance at all, books that can't fit the tropes du jour without stretching the truth, books that defy explanation, books that experiment. I'm trying to find you guys and it's so hard to track these books down!!!

Having ocs is not serious like there's some people in my computer and if I think about their relationships with one another too hard I get the urge to set things on fire

Isn't writing romantic? You take pieces of yourself and others to Frankenstein into a character who will live longer than any of you. They will be immortalized because of your hand, your words, and your world, and even if readers 20 years from now don't understand, they will read the story and find themselves in the lines.

I always laugh when writing blogs make posts about 'how to make your main character likable' but they're talking as if 'likable' means 'good person' or 'someone you want as a friend'
And maybe some people want that for their characters, that's fine.
But look, my gender-neutral dudes... I'm not endeavoring to make my character into the reader's friend or into a 'good person'. I want to write an interesting story. I want my character to be a little shit sometimes. I don't want people to love them all the time. Or condone what they do all the time. Sometimes interesting characters are the worst people imaginable. And that's what makes them likable to me as characters, which is different from likable to me as real-life people.
