To my absolute shock and horror, I’ve actually finished up the bulk of work on the multimuse, which means very soon!!! I will be transferring Rich over.
What does this mean????
Hopefully, nothing much. This blog will turn into an archive, but I’ll be keeping this url. Keep an eye out for my follow and more warnings!

perdefinitio:
It’s not an easy feat, distracting Severin from the craving for his well-deserved post-class cigarette, but this stranger certainly manages it without any effort at all. Something about his detached demeanour – his expression entirely unreadable – instils the irrational wish in Severin that he was armed. Having the materials at hand to cause a substantial explosion is well and good, but hardly practical if you’re faced with a gun or knife. Too slow. He’s aware, of course, how ridiculous it is to even entertain that train of thought, nothing suggests that he’s unexpectedly found himself in a truly dangerous situation – in his fucking class room, of all places, arguably the most boring place in this whole school. But he’s suspicious on the best of days, downright paranoid on his worst. The shady workings of his brother and the risk of unwittingly getting involved don’t exactly help with that.
Consequently, he doesn’t bother with even just the pretence of politeness. “What’s this about?” He does rummage through his jacket for his pack of cigarettes, as if unperturbed in his routine, but doesn’t move any closer to the door. Safety distance. “No offence, but I can’t recall asking for a fucking chaperone.”
The suspicion doesn’t phase him. Maybe Severin Moran is a well-trained soldier, or maybe he’s just naturally paranoid; either way, Richard would already be backing out of the room, or climbing out a window, if someone came asking for him like this.
He raises his hands, placating, and takes a step back. They’re far enough away that Richard would have to take several strides to get to him, so it’s an empty gesture, but Richard is used to making himself seem small and nonthreatening and does it anyway.
“To be honest-” an opening statement that he almost never uses genuinely- “-I was told about you. I wanted to see you for myself.” Half lie. Richard did want to see him in person. “Your brother. Sebastian?”
It’s a trap. Richard isn’t going to tell Severin he was snooping through an employee record, or spying on Moran’s life. He also isn’t going to say the relation he has to Moran. He wants Severin to fill in the gaps. He wants to know how much Severin knows.

perdefinitio:
Perhaps it’s a bad sign if a teacher’s more desperate for the relief of the fucking bell than any of his students; but Severin’s not out to win any “most committed faculty member” awards. If he can get through a whole school day without fantasising about blowing up his lab, he’ll mark it down as a success. Chemistry’s no one’s favourite subject, he’s always been acutely aware of it, but never more so than when students scramble to leave his class as quickly as fucking possible. On good days, he doesn’t take it personally. Today doesn’t quite feel like a good day yet.
He’s cleaning up his work station without any particular diligence when he notices a lingering silhouette from the corner of his eye. “Look, this is now officially my cigarette break. If you’ve got questions about the exam, you’re gonna have to come outside with me.” It’s only when he doesn’t receive an immediate response (You know, smoking’s kinda out now, Mr. Moran) that he looks up and stops short. It’s not often that random strangers come strolling into his school, so the unfamiliar face immediately has him tense his shoulders. Judging by his posture, this one’s not randomly run into him on his way to find someone else, but sought him out specifically. This guy knows exactly where he is and why. The realisation makes Severin stand up straight, alarmed. “Do I know you?”
“Apparently not.” He’s not an expert (or, self-proclaimed expert) at reading people like his brother, but the man’s expression looks honest. Honestly surprised, at least. Rich smooths down his suit, which is more casual than the pieces he wears for his big, important meetings, and looks around the room. A little curious, a little checking for exits. There’s a second door that leads back to the hall at the other end of the room, and wide windows perfect for staring out when the lesson gets too boring. The sciences were always Rich’s least favorite subjects.
“Mm-y name is Richard.” He looks back to the man. Rich thought he’d see a reflection of Moran in Severin, but they’re different. Moran is built like a damned tank. Severin is broad but looks like Rich of all people could stand a fighting chance. Lanky. He knows that doesn’t mean much. It’s why he chose the school to approach him. He doesn’t want to take chances.
“I’m very willing to walk with you, though. If that helps.” He doesn’t have the polite-but-distant smile he’s usually got on, when he talks business. He’s not smiling at all. He steps back, making space in the doorway, for Severin to squeeze through. “You’ll have to lead, though. This place is a maze.”

@perdefinitio liked for a starter !
It’s been fifteen minutes and Richard has to resist the urge to scrub at his face. The halls are empty because classes are still in, but echos of muffled lecturing and chatting teenagers still bounce around him. Like ghosts trying to haunt him with memories of his own shitty secondary experience. Except this school’s cleaner. The lockers are all uniform and seem to all shut properly. He had to actually work to convince the front desk to give him a visitor’s badge. No one’s punching anyone else so far.
The bell rings. Richard’s fingers clench in the pockets of his suit jacket, and he takes a breath. He straightens from his waiting slump against a bit of wall and makes sure to stay out of the way of students as the classroom doors open and teenagers start pouring out. Some shoot curious looks his way. Most ignore him.
He waits until they’re all gone to walk into the classroom. His stride is easy, his hands fall out of his pockets in a casual but pointed motion to show he’s empty-handed. He leaves the door open behind him. Rich isn’t worried about being overheard, and more importantly, he doesn’t want to make himself look like a threat.
Like more of a threat. He’s an unannounced stranger. It took time for Richard to track Severin down, and that in itself is the problem. Sebastian Moran, the most trusted asset Moriarty has, lied about his family. Richard had to do some real hunting sleuthing to find his brother at all, and now- he wants to know why. He doesn’t understand what him being a chemistry teacher has to do with it yet, but he’s sure there’s something there.
And even if- even if it’s something reasonable, it’s for Moran’s own good that Richard’s found his brother before his does.

@themercifulmother liked for a starter !
The Scozzari family doesn’t need Moriarty’s money. It’s very obvious, and Richard knows it, but that’s what he comes offering the next time he’s in New York. An updated contract, and a donation. They don’t need Moriarty’s money, and they’ve got more concentrated power in one city than Moriarty has across a nation, more people knowingly working for them, but if they’ve got an organization they’re clearly proud of then Moriarty should show support for that organization. He should show he respects what the Scozzari are doing.
That’s what he tells his brother, at least. Moriarty doesn’t care but as long as the negotiations go smoothly he usually lets Richard get away with whatever ground-level charming he wants. So Rich shows up with the contract and donation and his best attempt at a winning smile (which is mostly still tired and crooked but at least isn’t a scowl).
“I’m happy you’ve made time for me, again,” he says. And means it.

EDITABLE REBLOGS NOT WORKING? WORRY NOT!
so my editable reblogs finally broke. after doing some 2am digging, coming up with a redundant solution, making an ENTIRE TUTORIAL for said redundant solution, and realizing it’s useless, i’ve got the answer to the problem for everyone. i’ve joined the xkit support discord server, and here is what’s been said about the issue so far:
TLDR; EDITABLE REBLOGS WON’T WORK ON ORIGINAL POSTS, BUT IT’LL WORK ON REBLOGS WITH REPLIES. meaning if jane posts a starter and june replies to it without using editable reblogs, it’ll create this trail item. so from then on out, you can feel free to use xkit’s extension to your heart’s content.
so if you’re getting this issue, the solution is simple: DON’T USE XKIT ON THE FIRST REPLY. yes, it’ll be ugly, but everything will be back to normal from there :)
