The old man brought a hand to his mouth, smothering a snicker with his hand. “ Ꮶeep me alive?” He teased, clearly undaunted. “My, someone thinks mighty highly of herself.” He could have done without the comment, but he wouldn't miss an opportunity to watch her sit there and grit her teeth at him. It was entertaining, like watching a caged animal. No matter how much you poked and prodded, it simply couldn’t touch you.

“I hate to inform you, Mrs. White, but it’s not in your power to decide my fate. Especially not in that pigliainculo’s realm.” He wasn’t so quick to answer her questions, however. There was no way she was genuinely asking for his advice on Fabletown’s business-- she probably just wanted to pry into his own affairs. Considering this, Geppetto crossed his arms defensively, a scowl forming on his face again.

“I suppose you go back and rebuild, or something. Hell, stay in the Homelands for all I care.” He huffed.

“Not like Ｉ’ｍ stopping you.”

"You can't give me orders!"

“…No, I cannot.”

“But I do believe you could put your pride aside for a moment and listen to me, especially if it means keeping the pathetic souls of Fabletown alive.”

A mistake on Rose’s part. Geppetto stopped dead in his tracks and shoved her of before she could do so much as take a step with him.

“Don’t ｔｏｕｃｈ me!” He erupted. “Don’t you ｄａｒｅ touch me. Swing as many swords near my head as you please, but don’t you try to wrap your hands around me again.”

It took him a few seconds to regain his composure, but by then he had already decided to keep going without her. “If you must, Ꮢose, walk beside me, or behind me at least.”

"There you are Geppetto." Rose greeted. "I had wondered where you had gotten off to."

"Not a lot of people wonder that."

“Why go through the trouble to find me, Miss Rose? What do you want?”
