8.07.17 yes i took notes on an airplane, yes i was that bored, yes i am not ashamed at all

This 12-day week was a hard one, and I was getting pretty exhausted by the end of it. I almost hit a point where I was doubting if I could go through 5 more years of this… but sometime this week, I ran into a patient I had last month in the elevator. He was newly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and I had followed him for almost the entirety of his stay. I barely recognized him, bald headed, wearing civilian clothes and hidden behind a respiratory mask, but he immediately recognized me. It was so great to see him out of a hospital bed with such mirth in his voice, and I was reminded of this job’s purpose. It reminded me of what I truly love in medicine, of how happy I am to be able to help people, and how that makes the hard work so worth it. We do sacrifice a lot in medicine, but what we get back is oh so gratifying. 😌

finally started on my biology notes! one week of holidays left so i’m going to try and power through revision for exams before school starts again. i’m proud of how much revision i’ve done for bio today. feeling productive, hope it lasts!
