"Survival rate"
Seemingly not understanding to survive, you had to have gotten it. COVID fucks with your whole body.
Also not understanding survivor bias nor the low death rate was due in part to the suppression effort and vaccination that occurred.

I know these people are incapable of feeling guilt or empathy most of the time, but I'm going to tell every one of them my mother died and it sucked. I don't care.
Maybe I'm trying to make sure a horrible, pointless, unnecessary death can have some meaning beyond my grief. That my mom's suffering can have some... reason.

I thought they were going after criminals. They claimed it would help with the cost of housing and increase employment.
Why are we arresting 82 year olds who have been in this country longer than me (and I was born here) and who are here legally?

Allentown grandfather’s family was told he died in ICE custody. Then they learned he’s alive — in a hospital in Guatemala, they say
NEW STORY: Allentown grandfather Luis Leon, who ended up in Guatemala after ICE arrest, is recovering from pneumonia, family says. He doesn’t plan to return to the U.S.
Relatives of 82-year-old Allentown resident Luis Leon are headed to a Guatemalan hospital

"I think that this area is one of the highest probability areas for flash floods that exists, OK — probably within, I don't know, within the nation, but certainly within the state," Tom Moser said at a Kerr County commissioners' meeting in 2016, while he was a commissioner. Officials knew that different sets of river gauges, which measure the height of the water, didn't feed into a centralized system. Some road crossings across the Guadalupe River didn't have adequate warnings. Other counties had installed warning sirens to alert residents when the river was flooding. The county put together a proposal for a flood warning system, though installing sirens was cut from the plan after pushback, including from one commissioner concerned about sirens going off in the middle of the night. The cost was just under $1 million. In 2021, Kerr County did receive $10 million from the federal government, as part of Covid-related stimulus funds under the American Rescue Plan Act. Communities could use the funds for public health projects, or communications and infrastructure projects of their own choosing. Kerr County officials opted to spend the bulk of it on a new emergency communication system, providing more coverage across the county for police, firefighters and first responders.

They don't care.
Republicans don't care about you.

If there's any silver lining to this terrible moment we're in right now, it's that it should help us appreciate what our government is for. And why we need a competent and effective civil service rather than Trump lackeys and sycophants.

These days, you can't get past the lobby, if you can even get in the building.
If you get past the lobby and can get onto an elevator, you won't make it into actual offices or you won't even make it past the elevator bank.
Plus they won't read and/or consider a resume from a random person.
you tell any adult over the age of 50 that you're looking for a job and they're frothing at the mouth to offer insight bc they think your young and/or lazy ass has never even conceived what they're about to tell you. and it's printing your resume onto a very disposable piece of paper and walking into the workplace and handing it to a random employee

This is the "problem" AI is solving.
Meanwhile, Amazon and Microsoft have been spending billions to advance their AI efforts. Amazon has consistently reported higher capital expenditures than its fellow Big Tech “hyperscalers” over the past several years, driven by its investments in AI infrastructure. In 2025, that trend is set to continue. Amazon has projected it will spend roughly $105 billion, much higher than its peers, with the vast majority going to AI infrastructure for its cloud segment, Amazon Web Services. Microsoft is set to spend $80 billion in 2025 to build out AI data centers.

All across America, people who have never before participated in a demonstration are feeling compelled to show their solidarity — with immigrants who are being targeted by Trump, with people who are determined to preserve due process and the rule of law, with Americans who don’t want to live in a dictatorship. This solidarity is to be celebrated. It is the foundation of the common good. The moral squalor of Trump has brought us back to basics: Why we have a Constitution. The meaning of the rule of law. The importance of checks and balances and separation of powers. The centrality of our judiciary. The significance of due process and habeas corpus. The connection between near-record inequalities of income and wealth, and the record levels of money corrupting our politics. Perhaps most fundamentally of all, the malignant narcissism of Trump has helped us understand the opposite — the true meaning of patriotism and the common good. Patriotism based on the common good does not pander to divisiveness. It does not vilify diversity, equity, and inclusion. True patriots don’t fuel racist or religious or ethnic divisions. They aren’t homophobic or transphobic or sexist. True patriots confirm the good that we have in common. They seek to strengthen and celebrate the “We” in “We the people.” Trump is the opposite of a patriot. He is a traitor and a coward. His lust for power and wealth at the expense of the common good makes this one of the most shameful chapters of our history. Yesterday we reasserted “We.” We did it largely peacefully. We gained strength from our solidarity. We celebrated our numbers and our power. We will be steadfast. We will not cower to a dictator. We will win.

The No Kings rally in Philadelphia dwarfed Trump’s Birthday military parade by probably 20-1. And there were more than 2,000 other No Kings rallies across the nation and many of those also dwarfed Kim Jong-Don’s pathetic parade. No Kings drew several million nationwide while Trump only drew a few thousand and most of those were tourists who had booked vacations there before the parade was announced and weren’t necessarily Trump supports.
There were massive gaps along Trump’s parade route and where there were attendees they were in pockets of dozens. Donny Doll Hands, Melanoma, and Pete Hegseth all looked pathetic and angrily disappointed.
No Kings will go down as possibly the largest nationwide event in US history. Some sources are claiming it even beat the Women’s March against Trump in 2016. The numbers were even more massive than the Vietnam protests and those were really big.

Deploying the National Guard is an escalation by the Trump Administration. Normally states have control over their guardsmen.
Republicans always seem to think the answer to anything is violence, force and/or threats of violence/force.
If you're in LA, stay safe.

Lawrence: As criminal as Nixon was, he had more respect for the Constitution than Trump
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell has been waiting for someone with the power and legal authority to sue Donald Trump to stop his illegal tariffs. That happened today when California became the first state to file a lawsuit in federal court to block the Trump tariffs. Lawrence explains why he and the state of California believe Trump’s tariffs are unconstitutional.
