What actually happened here? 🥶

This happened during a toning session in one of our private workshops. My student was doing a regular toning application, but a couple of key mistakes led to this result:

❌ Mistake #1: The client’s hair was too dry.

👉 The drier the hair, the more likely it is to develop spots. The wetter the hair, the easier it is to control the toner.

❌ Mistake #2: When combing the toner through, the student stopped mid-section instead of combing through the entire length.

👉 The spot appeared exactly where the comb stopped.

💡 How to avoid this in the future:

1️⃣ Keep the hair wet throughout the toning process.

👉 Pro tip: You can mix a bit of No.2 from any bond-building plex or even a light conditioner — don’t worry, it won’t stop the toning process! 😅

2️⃣ Never stop combing in the middle of a section.

👉 If you do by accident, just re-wet and gently clean the area before continuing.

❤️ And remember: if this happens, it’s okay! Nobody dies — we’re human, and mistakes are part of the learning process. (I’ve done this dozens of times myself! 😅)

✅ How we corrected it:

1. Used the Airtouch technique to isolate the shorter blonde hairs where the spots appeared.

2. Applied 13vol at a 1:2 ratio for 5–10 minutes, monitoring the whole time.

3. Reapplied the toner through the lengths.

4. Finished with a deep treatment to restore moisture and shine.
