A Very Serious Fic That's Mostly About Crushes, Feelings, Secret Relationships, And A Little Bit About Venin Broccoli

Yes, this is what I've been working on for the last three-odd months.

[Post-Onyx Storm]. The Battle of Draithus was a few days ago. Everyone is recovering and trying to get back to normal. Garrick's attempt to try and get his mind off of Xaden is failing, because now all he can think about is his crush on Mira. Meanwhile, Mira's growing attraction to a certain dashing flier has her all preoccupied. And Ridoc is ready to be more than just a secret boyfriend to his secret boyfriend. But when the most beloved cat of Quest Squad goes missing, there's only one thing to do: stage a rescue mission. And you better believe everyone will be there.

This was written for the Riders' Quadrant Discord Summer Fanworks Exchange, for my dearest wifey, @yams-77. Every word was lovingly crafted to bring you maximum joy. And I hope others enjoy it also!!

Thank you so much to @ellebellewritesfic for beta'ing this ridiculous thing, and to @copperfirebird for the absolutely stellar Broccoli doodles that accompany each chapter (yes, if you read this, you will get Broccoli art).

The first seven chapters are already up, and chapter eight is currently in beta. Nine will be the final chapter.

I wasn’t sure what to do now, so I looked back. He was shorter than me and slighter in frame, with a kind of ethereal glow about him. If she hadn’t been about to get married, I think my sister would be into him—she’d always liked the dark and handsome type—but something in his eyes as he took me in told me he wouldn’t want her back, despite the rosary around his neck. I wasn’t sure what to think about that either, so I filed it away in the back of my brain.

Finally his eyes snapped back up to mine and his lips curved in that way girls’ do when they’re trying to flirt with me. “And do you always do everything you’re supposed to do…?”

“Trevor,” I answered. “And you?”

“Matty.”

Day 5: Window

Bodhi looked up from his Physics book when he saw lightning strike outside his window. He shook his head knowingly. 

About an hour later, there was a knock on the door. Sighing, he got up and opened it. Garrick was in the hallway, looking annoyed. 

“Let me guess,” Bodhi said. Garrick rolled his eyes and nodded. “Where are they now?”

“Bathing chamber,” Garrick said, opening the door to Xaden’s room. They both looked around. 

“Desk first,” Bodhi decided. “It’s the heaviest.” They gingerly lifted the heavy desk, careful not to get splinters. 

“They can’t fuck in bed like normal people?” Garrick grumbled.

“I will give you one of my daggers if you say that to him,” Bodhi said, his eyes glinting with mischief.

“Which he’ll promptly use to slice off my head. No thanks,” Garrick said as they carried the desk outside. 

“I will not be doing this again,” Bodhi said decisively. 

“Good luck with that,” Garrick said and Bodhi sighed. He knew if Xaden asked, he’d do almost anything. So. There was that. 

“Maybe next time I’ll fuck Ridoc on the desk and we’ll call it even when I call him to get rid of the evidence.”

Fic Summary: Following War Games and the events at Resson, Bodhi is overwhlemed by grief, the rebellion, and his new position as Flame Sectionleader and finds himself turning to Liam's squadmate Ridoc for solace as the two scheme an elaborate plan to steal Commandant Panchek's underpants. And somehow, much to his surprise, Bodhi finds himself falling for the larger-than-life rider.

Note: This fic is an Iron Flame retelling from Bodhi & Ridoc’s POV.

Summary: High off the thrill of the heist, Bodhi is dealt a devastating blow and struggles through his grief.

Content Warning: This chapter contains themes that you may find triggering including canon consistent major character death, depression, alcohol abuse, alcoholism, rejection, doom spiraling, and suicidal ideation and actions.

I'm sorry for the wait on the chapter, this is the most difficult thing I've ever had to write. I had to make sure I was in the right headspace whenever I worked on it. I've put so much of myself and my struggles in Bodhi for this one and the other chapters in this arc. I hope the reading experience is as meaningful and cathartic as writing was.

“Wait, what?” Bodhi’s own brows contorted in confusion. None of what Dain was saying made any sense. “Where is Eya?” Aetos’s expression faltered. “Burned.” “Burned,” Bodhi echoed. The words finally sunk in. Horror seeped through his body, icing his veins. Slowly his knees bent, and the next thing Bodhi knew, he was sitting on the ground, wishing he’d taken Aetos’s earlier offer. “She’s gone?”

this mentality is SO WEIRD some of you clearly were not around for superwholock and it shows.

this obsession with needing to only ship something canon or to prove your ship is better because you think it will be canon... SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP! it shouldn't matter if people are shipping something that is or is not canon. let us play in our respective spaces and enjoy the content we want. it hurts literally nobody if fanart or fics are made for a couple that isn't canon. if it's upsetting to see then blacklist the tag and grow up.
