I think people are running with the whole I wanted a concise album thing too far. I hate when people say "Taylor listened to criticism about TTPD being too long!" because they are completely missing the point of TTPD still. That album was supposed to be long and raw and unedited and unfiltered. Because that's what grief is. That's what humanity is. That's what writers do when they are trying to process something.

On the other hand, the life of a showgirl is short. Precise. Intricately planned. And I'm sure we'll hear more about that theme on the album. I have no doubt the short(er) tracklist will serve its purpose for the album in the same way the long tracklist for TTPD served its purpose.
