Era #1 (Gods)

Far before the first human on Pafiraso, there were two terrestrial beings called Polars. In the beginning, they were conjoined as the supercontinent we now call Kipao. Even though the Polars’s consciousness wasn’t a tangible thing, their bodies took the form of the land. Their power manifested in the four elements, earth, water, air, and fire. This manifestation is what made Kipao a continent in the first place.

Longer down the line, several myriads later, the Polars were engaged in a feud. It led to the land being damaged, only with huge fissures at first, but eventually, such a divide was born that Qipos split in half altogether, giving birth to two new continents, Aqualois and Lutuferlis. This event is called The Rupture. Unfortunately, now that Kipao was no longer one, the four elements that resided in the Polars’ bonded form were also no longer united. This led to the early stage in the appearance of cores, two physical projections of the Polars’s souls and the elements that came with them. Each resided in one of the two continents, Aqualois’s core harbored air and water, and Lutuferlis’s harbored fire and earth. At the moment, the cores were a force of pure power that overtook the land, encasing both continents in pulsating energy.

Cores are the source of all of the magic in the world. However, at this stage, the amount of power imbued in them made them unstable. This led to the land on each continent fluctuating wildly. It caused Aqualois to shrink over the course of years, while Lutuferlis grew out of control, simultaneously expanding and fracturing. These fractures are why we have rivers.

The Polars could not let this go on. If this kept up, soon both of their bodies would be destroyed. They decided to be civil once more, condensing the cores into the form we know them to be in today, two points, two poles of magic. This is where the name Polars came from.

The Polars tried their best to repair the land, but the only way to do that was with a steady, long period of healing. This prompted them to lay down to rest as the continents knit themselves back together.

loch is first (shes the girl with six arms and tentacle hair!)

her powers didn't come naturally, they come from an ability thats like chrollo's (if you understand that), where she has to memorize a spell before she can preform it, and after she does, she forgets it. water spells come the easiest to her, tend to be short, and have a lot of variety, so those are the ones she utilizes the most! since shes not a naturally born magic user, she spends just about all of her time reading up on all knowledge of magic she cans, from runes to ruins, magic history to science, she tries to cover all the bases. she carries her spell scrolls in a pouch, and they manifest as balls of light that, when she smashes them, fills her w the knowledge she needs to preform the spells! she predominately utilizes her fingers, hands, and body when preforming spells because she feels as if that's the least restricting way for her, but sometimes involves other mediums like a wand as well. she's on a quest to learn and eventually teach around the world, but for now, she hops from place to place, harvesting unique magic and techniques from around the globe.

then cato's (dude whos like REALLY pale and has flower earrings (hes an albino!))

cato, when necessary, fights with ice, but he's more of a protector and crafter over any of that. his magic is genetic and handheld! his is more delicate than the rest of his family's, though, hence why he tends to stay out of the way during conflict when unarmed. he utilizes handheld weapons rather than his natural magic most of the time, and finds favor in small items, like daggers. he's particularly agile and quick, and takes full advantage of that. when it comes to using his ice, his attacks generally take a lot of time to take effect depending on how long the fight has gone on for, as he uses small, pinpricks of ice to pierce skin or armor (its pretty good at that part) and encase the body in fast spreading ice. unfortunately, this ability only works if he's cold enough. when warmed up, he's generally pretty helpless and is better utilized as a healer. overall, cato is much better at assassinating people or first aid than he is in combat. at the moment, cato engineers plans for weapons, equipment, and machinery to help his parents' frozen empire spread.

onto jamie! (girl w bright blue hair and triangle earrings)

jamie is a light user, but her powers were only unlocked after years of extreme stress. her magic is bright, but very quiet and generally harmless compared to other magic. the most it can do is burn or blind, but jamie utilizes it quite well! she relies on distraction and disorientation for her attacks, and then goes in with a more physical attack, like with her fists or a handheld weapon. however, jamie doesn't engage in much combat overall, as her mission is generally a peaceful one! she's venturing to simply find a new home thats perfect for her and make friends along the way. her magic, like cato's, is handheld, and is activated by gestures or motions. even though it's labelled as "handheld," though, it can also be preformed by any apposable part of her body, such as feet or elbows. she generally uses her power to preform for people and make money off of it, because her light comes in an array of colors! her hair and parts of her skin are permanently dyed from this, actually, and while her hair in this AU is a more royal blue than electric blue, it is still very vibrant!

next, cirro! (guy with tail)

cirro's magic is corrupted. he used to be a flame user, but due to some sticky situations, he's now half poison, half flame. before, he was almost constantly hot to the touch, and left scorch marks wherever he walked. he utilized this magic in the kitchen! he was a chef on the mainland for a while, one of the highest regarded ones, in fact! he made heated dishes from all over, and was content with that. though his burning skin made it a bit hard (he's a dragon thing. he still looks human, but fire runs through his veins.), he lived a very lovely life. for a while. a while after this, something happened (perhaps a curse? unsure, havent worked it out) that poisoned his magic and him. while before, his flames would just give you a nasty burn if he grazed you on accident and scorch you to ashes if it was on purpose, they now would make you incredibly sick along with it, the wound bubbling and blistering with congealed ichor. it's gross. along to it being a danger to himself and others (he used to be immune to his own fire, but now hes not and it's slowly killing him), he hates it because he can't cook without accidentally melting whatever he's working on with acid! it sucks. currently, he's on a quest to find a mage who can help him understand and get rid of this curse.

last is líno. (person w/ hair covering their face who looks kinda tired)

líno's magic is super rare, which equates to it being understudied. a pity, considering it's so powerful. his magic is a branch of air magic, smoke! it's utilized through his breath and pores, and can create illusions, distractions and blindness, as well as sickness, corroding, and a bunch more nasty shit. its pretty crazy, but not very many people have it, and theres virtually no information on it either. the problem at the moment is that he's sort of treated like an scp because of it- theyre contained in a laboratory where the people who document official records of magic types observe him, and, as you could imagine, it sucks a lot! his breathing is pretty horrible because of the intense testing he goes through all the time as well as constantly monitored, and worst of all, he doesn't even get to see the results. later in his story, he's going to break out and conduct his own experiments on himself, while simultaneously planning to dismantle the organization and free others who may be there as well. as you could imagine, he hasn't had much opportunity or courage to fight, but if they were to be engaged in combat, he would utilize a small tool, almost like a straw, to dispel the smoke. overall, he'd be better at assassinations and silent take downs, like cato, and finds more use in artificial fire magic preformed with wands.
