So, to sum up- your favorite color is rainbow? That's awesome
He lets out an amused chuckle. A simplified explanation, but he didn't want to get into a lecture on light. He had work to do, research as well.
"I suppose you're right. There's definitely a joke to be made there, too. Aunt Cass recently got me a really cool mug with a rainbow on it. She's been buying a lot of rainbow themed things for the Cafe." For obvious reasons. She had been enthusiastic in her support for him.
Though Gogo didn't entirely share the sentiment. She was still rather wary of Kenji-- hopefully in time he could win her over. At the very least she'd see how happy the guy made him. That should be enough.

Tadashi, what IS your favorite color?
"My favorite growing up was green-- but when I learned that light was comprised of every color-- my world changed. I was really into prisms for a bit, tried building them into my bot projects. I wanted to find a way to make invisible light visible." He lets out an amused chuckle.
"I could never quite get things to work right, and pretty soon I found myself working on the project that would one day become Baymax. I hear some fish can see beyond the visual light spectrum-- I think that's kinda cool."

"Come on buddy-- your charger's over here." The silly subroutines he'd programmed into Baymax's low battery protocols led to an amusing outcome. A happy little accident.
"Right by the window, Baymax."
"I'M YOUR BAYMAX. PERSONAL -HIC- ARE COMPANION."

Tadashi absolutely teaches little Emi how to pout and use her cuteness to her advantage cus this is Mr Mom right here. He's such a mother hen when it comes to her-- even if she towers over him considerably he still can't help but dote on her.

THE STORY OF SUNFIRE
For Tadashi's prime verse he'll be an amnesiac now going by the name Shiro Yoshida-- with the villain alias of Sunfire.
He works as Okbake's right hand and enforcer-- though after his boss' defeat he swears vengeance against Big Hero 6, entirely unaware that the team is comprised of his former friends and family.
Shiro works as a mechanic for bot fighting-- usually catering to the highest bidder. On the side he trades in illegal weaponry, all acquired thanks to his unique abilities. As Sunfire he can absorb solar radiation [any radiation, for that matter] and focus it into high powered, intense plasma.
Coupled with his ability to fly and unusually adept stealth skills-- he's yet to be caught. He's also capable of setting his entire body ablaze-- though he avoids doing this as it often brings back flashes of the life he led before his accident.
Obake was the one who found him after the explosion-- saw the potential in him and nursed him back to health, entirely unaware of who he was. He simply saw someone else burned by the same school that had turned him into a bio-luminescent freak of nature.
It wasn't until he heard Shiro talking in his sleep that he figured out who the amnesiac really was. However, Obake kept that information to himself-- preferring to torment Hiro with the ghost of his brother. All the while having the man as his right hand.
Sunfire is fierce in a fight and possesses considerable skill in combat. He's not afraid to endanger civilians or to fight dirty-- but most of his confrontations with heroes result in him escaping.

In Tadashi's Ultraman crossover AU he and Kenji never really got to say good bye before Kenji's mom took him to the other side of the country. When they reunite years later the night of the SFIT fire, Tadashi has a lot of complex feelings because when did Ken get hot.
Ken is Tadashi's childhood nickname for Kenji-- and is the only one who gets to call him that.
Meanwhile Kenji calls him Dashi-- his old nickname from elementary and middle school. Tadashi doesn't even let his friends use that nickname-- he kind of retired it when Ken left unexpectedly.
In this AU-- Tadashi's parents died in a kaiju attack, and they were both rather close to Kenji's parents [did they know his dad was Ultraman? Maybe. IDK. That's up for development].
We'll get into the tragic gay romance but for now let's talk about their dynamic. Cuz Kenji sees his childhood bestie run into a burning building and he SUITS UP FAST and just barely manages to save Tadashi before the entire building goes BOOM.
He gets understandably frustrated and just starts popping off on Tadashi after shrinking down and Tadashi clocks him immediately. Thus begins their partnership. Because what does Kenji need? A guy in the chair, someone to help him manage the madness his life has become.
He learns on the fly, gathering research elements and focusing his attention on studying kaiju-- categorizing them and figuring out what they're doing. If he's ever stumped, he calls Fred and pretends he's running a tabletop RPG campaign about Ultraman and needs monster stats. A year later and he's practically an expert. He and Kenji are a killer team-- and kinda dating.
Tadashi has moved in with Kenji-- but his family [as far as he knows] has no idea about Kenji's extracurricular. Just that he hit it off with his childhood bestie and now they're together. Cass is so happy for them and constantly sends them fresh baked goods.
Baymax splits his attention between helping Kenji in secret [Ultraman can get pretty banged up, he needs a medical professional, and Tadashi can use the data to help make Baymax better and more versatile] and helping Hiro with his extracirriculars [cuz meeting Ultraman and his brother being saved really inspired Hiro into becoming a hero himself, he just hasn't told Tadashi what he and Baymax get up to].
Things change as Kenji brings home a living baby kaiju. He's freaking out-- Tadashi freaks out. Baymax chills them both out by adapting his infant-friendly programming into something to help the large creature. They take to calling her Emi.
Tadashi is-- freakishly good at handling a baby far larger than him. And Kenji has less to stress about with his boyfriend helping him co-parent. Tadashi starts to show signs of exhaustion and lies to Cass, saying he and Kenji adopted a stray puppy. Kenji tells Hiro it's a kitten.
Does Big Hero 6 get brought into help? Oh yeah. Tadashi probes Fred a bit too hard on kaiju info and he actually figures it out. Only, no one believes him. Come on-- Tadashi is dating Ultraman? Seriously? That's so bogus, Fred.
[@noctuserenade should not leave me to my own devices. but also we are COOKING chat.]

popping in for a smooch from kenji (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎) !
kendashi cuteness [ft: @ultramns]
Tadashi, fiddling in the kitchen, let out a soft hum of fondness as Kenji leaned in to steal a kiss. He'd had another sleepless night, but it hardly showed. An arm snaked around Kenji's waist-- Tadashi returning the affection with a firm embrace, bringing their foreheads together.
"Someone slept in today. Coffee's in your travel mug, and your lunch is in your bag. You've got this-- and I'll be here if any trouble brews." His reassurance was stated with the same firmness with which he grabbed his childhood friend turned unexpected co-parent.
Raising a Kaiju was a two-man [and sometimes robot] job.
He'd been working all night on his latest creation-- Megamax. A Baymax to help care for creatures far larger than humans. Someone to provide Emi with protection, if she were released back into the wild. Which was a topic the two had mutually been avoiding discussing.
"You have a good day at work, Ken." Tadashi placed a kiss upon the right hand corner of his hero's lips-- a smirk on his own. He'd smiled more in the past six months than he had for the years prior.

Verses [General]
BIG HERO 6 VERSES
BEFORE THE BOOM [Pre-Film]
Tadashi is the big brother to Hiro Hamada– and lives above the Lucky Cat Cafe with his Aunt Cass. After the death of his parents, he was left looking after his brother. Thankful for his aunt’s help– Tadashi takes his role as Hiro’s big brother seriously, and is working on a special project to make life easier for everyone– something he calls Project Baymax.
BURNED AND BURNED AGAIN [BH6 Series]
Now Shiro Yoshida– he awakens to find a world of heroes and villains. Under Obake’s tutelage, Shiro works toward learning to control his abilities and puts them to use helping his boss. He does odd jobs for those who take their bots to underground bot fighting, and provides dangerous mods and weapons for the right price.
HELLFIRE [Post Obake AU]
With his mentor defeated, Shiro formulates his own plans to defeat Big Hero 6. He prefers to remain in the shadows, like his mentor– and even acquires information on the team members. He intends to take them out slowly– one by one until the only things left standing are that annoying boy and his eerily familiar robot.
REDEMPTION [Reunion AU]
With most of his memories returned, Tadashi turns himself into the San Fransokyo Police to serve time for the crimes committed by Shiro Yoshida. He’s let off easy, thanks to a good word from Boss Awesome and Big Hero 6. Tadashi is happy enough helping Cass around the Lucky Cat– but he seems to have more of a temper than he did before the accident. On occasion he assists Big Hero 6– despite having a tendency to lose his cool.
CROSSOVERS
ULTRAMAN: RISING
Wherein the events of Ultraman: Rising take place within the world of Big Hero 6. Kenji Sato lives in San Fransokyo with his mother and father. He’s got a best friend from school, Tadashi Hamada. ‘Ken’ and 'Dashi’ are inseparable, in that sweet way young boys are. Literally BFFFs. But when a kaiju attack takes the lives of Tadashi’s parents– his best friend leaves without a word as well.
Only for the two to meet up again– over a decade later.
FALLEN TO DARKNESS [Kingdom Hearts]
WIP [still brainstorming]

THROUGH THE FIRE AND FLAMES [AU]
NOTE: This version of Tadashi is for the 'Sunfire’ AU. He uses the same moniker and alias as the BH6 villain, Sunfire. This particular AU is from my old standalone Tadashi blog from 2015. I cannot, for the life of me, remember that URL so this is all recreated from memory!
Name: Tadashi Hamada Alias: Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire Age: 21 - 23 Gender: Male Orientation: Ace/Aro [Shiro] Demisexual Homoromantic [Tadashi] Alignment: Villain [Obake’s Right Hand] Abilities: Able to absorb radiation [usually solar] he can create plasma and ignite it, provided there’s enough oxygen in his immediate environment. Sunfire is capable of shaping said plasma into any form he desires, be it projectiles, blades, or boosters. Capable of self-sustained flight, Sunfire can also set his entire form ablaze and suffer no ill harm. He’s relatively fireproof, provided it’s his flames immediately surrounding him. He seems well trained in hand-to-hand combat and appears an excellent tactician. Personality: Sunfire can be extremely cold and callous, much like his boss. His loyalty to Obake is without question. He tends to mock any opponents who dare to take him on, his voice distorted through the mask of the costume he wears.
History: Shiro was found by Obake after an accident that left him with burns on his arms and legs– the same accident that activated his radiation absorbing abilities. His memories prior to the fire are lost to him, but unimportant as far as he is concerned. Shiro’s primary alignment is to Obake, to whom he is indebted. At night, Shiro has rather vivid nightmares about the fire that disfigured him. These nightmares make him unwilling to remember anything prior to the accident.
Obake put it in his head that Big Hero 6 was responsible for his injuries– a failed attempt at heroics causing devastation to civilians. He spent a few weeks after his rescue in a coma– so he was inclined to believe his savior.
After Obake’s defeat and apparent death, Shiro decided to strike out on his own, developing a plan to defeat Big Hero 6 and get his revenge against them.

GUY IN THE CHAIR [ Ultraman AU]
Note: In Tadashi’s ‘main’ AU he survived the explosion thanks to Ultraman’s intervention. This is a BH6 x Ultraman Rising crossover. Because the ship of Tadashi and Kenji is everything to me. It picks up about a year after Tadashi would have died– now he works with Ultraman as his 'guy in the chair’.
Name: Tadashi Hamada Alias: The Guy in the Chair Age: 22 Gender: Male Orientation: Demisexual Homoromantic Alignment: Good Abilities: Tadashi is a capable programmer and roboticist. He’s a skilled strategist and learns new information at an alarming rate. He eventually becomes an expert on kaiju– starting to categorize and group them based on abilities and strength. Occupation: SFIT student, Ultraman’s Assistant. Baymax’s Creator
Family: Hiro Hamada [16, little brother], Cass Hamada [Aunt, Guardian], Baymax [Robotics Project]
Personality: Tadashi is kind, caring, and always willing to help, at times to the point of his own detriment. He’s not so much a doormat as he is the kind of guy who probably cares too much about folks in general. He’s an optimist with a hopeful outlook, and tends to be extremely reliable in times of crisis.
Fears: Fire, cramped spaces. Loss of control.
Strengths: He always knows what to do in a crisis– and his level headed thinking and unique problem solving abilities led to him inventing Baymax– a first of it’s kind medical assistant robot. With a personality far more human than any bot has had before. The man’s a genius in his own right, with a stalwart sense of determination and an internal drive to do what's right. He’s got a hero’s heart.
Weaknesses: Tadashi cares so much about others he tends to neglect himself. He’s yet to properly address the trauma of his youth, preferring to simply repress it so he could help his aunt raise his little brother. Underneath his smiles and kindness, he’s still hurting. He’s very much a workaholic who has burnt the candle at both ends more than once.
History: Tadashi has spent his entire life in San Fransokyo. He had a best friend, as most kids do– his was Ken and he was 'Dashi’. They were inseparable. Walking to school every morning, sneaking on walkie-talkies at night. Sleepovers. Theme parks. Their parents were close, and the boys were closer. Thick as thieves they were.
Until the day Tadashi’s parents didn’t come home. They’d died in a kaiju attack– and Kenji soon after moved away. Tadashi had to deal with the loss of his best friend, and his parents– all while having to move in with his aunt and look after his little brother. All that pressure simply made him capable of handling it.
Tadashi went on to continue his life– deciding to focus on robotics in school and getting a full ride scholarship to the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology [SFIT]. He even attempted to get his brother interested in the school– as he saw a lot of potential in Hiro. The night that his baby bro was set to show off his own project, Tadashi reunited with Kenji
Things got crazy– he and Kenji talked, reconnected– Kenji apologizing for leaving without a word but insisting it hadn’t really been his choice, so much as what his parents wanted. The two pick up right where they left off– despite Tadashi being mistaken as Kenji’s 'date’ to the expo by the paparazzi.
Later that evening, when the fire strikes– Tadashi charges in to try and save Professor Callaghan. He is rescued in kind, by Ultraman.
Who proceeds to TELL HIM OFF for running into a burning building like an idiot. Tadashi figures it out then and there– Kenji is Ultraman. After Tadashi reassures his family he’s okay, he goes off with Kenji to his place to get the full story. Eventually the duo end up working together– with Tadashi helping Kenji manage his superhero identity, and Kenji doing it moreso for Tadashi than anything.
The two grow close and start dating, something they sort of casually fall into. Baymax is a great help when Kenji gets too banged up by his baseball career or fighting monsters– and Tadashi’s strategic skills are a great help, as he seems to have an eye for these beastie’s weaknesses.
Then, everything changes when a little monster of their own comes into the picture.
