Manfei is my first name in pinyin which is using English character to express our Chinese pronunciation. However, there is no meaning in English but in Chinese character.
I read the article, Where do Baby Names Come From? by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner and I realize that the rules and ways of names in English are totally different from Chinese. Let me introduce some interesting methods that how parents get a name to their Children in Chinese. Firstly, based on the date of your birth, everyone has eight characters of a horoscope which related to the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth, held by the ancients to compose the physical universe and later used in traditional Chinese medicine to explain various physiological and pathological phenomena). Although it is difficult to explain in a few sentences in English, many parents are willing to consider the information of this to give a name to their children. Because of every character in Chinese has its nature of the five elements, the character of people’s name may contain the element that a person is needed. However, this is just a common factor that Chinese parents are considered. Moreover, compared with names in English, there are more ways and meanings in a Chinese name, and I don’t find periodic rules of repeating a name. However, we also have some popular names in a specific period which because of some factors of history or politicalissue. Besides, It is not common to use words in a person’s name nowadays but we use different characters to create a name.
As for my name, there is no special meaning about it. I asked my parent of the meaning, however, it was not a very serious thing for my parents to create a name for me. My parents both have a high level of education, but it doesn’t mean that they had considered a lot about my name. There are two characters of my name, Man and Fei. The first one contains two meaning. From the perspective of pronunciation, it just means slow. Because I am a premature baby, so they came up with the characters of slow. However, the character of my name is not the same character of slow but just has the same pronunciation. From the perspective of the character itself, it has the meaning of romantic and freedom. Another character Fei means flying. However, the pronunciation also means not. Although I am a premature baby, it is not incorrect as everything has their own way. I like my name as its pronunciation is pretty nice. Even though the reason for my name sounds a little bit funny, its character is also nice to write down.

This is my first time to make a series of fashion design. It was three years ago, and at that time, I wondered to be a fashion designer. Although it is not cool enough for others, it means a lot for me. At that time, I spent a long time to do a lot of experiments and researches to make my own clothes. Everything is a new experience for me. I used the ideas from Hundertwasser. His imagination and innovation are the things what I respected the most. The excitement for new things can always be aroused by his works. And those designs are cool enough for me as they contain all my passion at that time. That’s enough.

Those pictures are cool buildings which are designed by my favorite artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser. I like his artworks and love his architectures!!! The buildings he designed are very different from others as those buildings let me feel like from the wonderland. Hundertwasser is an artist who made those fancy architecture come true. Not only from the shape of the building but also the color, he breaks the rules of architecture. If you see the architecture once, they will leave you a deep impression. When you see these pictures, you may never know what the building is for. One of his famous architecture in Vienna is a waste incineration plant which looks fabulous and colorful.
As for himself, Friedensreich Hundertwasser was born in Vienna. At the age of 6, he began to create paintings and showed his extraordinary understanding of color and shape. In his youth, he entered the Vienna Academy of Art and in 1948 he changed his name to Frieden Sleib Hundred Water. In his youth, he studied painting in Paris, France, and his style was deeply influenced by German expressionism. In 1959, Baishui won the Grand Prize of the Sao Paulo Art Biennale in Brazil.
