But part of getting to know yourself is to unknow yourself - to let go of the limiting stories you've told yourself about who you are so that you aren't trapped by them, so you can live your life and not the story you've been telling yourself about your life

You know the worst part of being in charge? Perspective. When you're young, you can assume that everyone older than you has life figured out. Once you get command yourself, you realize we're all just the same kids wearing older bodies.

Not that there's anything wrong with humans. I find their frail, emotionally unstable, irrational natures quite endearing.

"But it doesn't mean our hearts don't unravel. It doesn't mean we can't love deeply and painfully and chase after boys who refuse to love us back. But in the end, always in the end, we find a way to shatter whatever hint of love had grown inside us."

People talk about the Walker women. How they have bits of forest in their blood and wisps of air in their hair. How they enchant men and lead them to their doom. They say they are witches. Nora Walker disagrees. All the females before her were more magical than her, and she is the only one who didn't have the power. It flows in her vein, that's for sure, but it never manifested. Or that's what she thinks. Until a certain snowstorm happened where one boy went missing and another one died, this is where her story sets off.
Winterwood is a haunting romance with elements of mystery and fantasy. I found it an easy read giving me a whimsical and atmospheric vibe. While I really liked the tone of the book, I couldn't feel attached to the main characters. I thought the build up to the end could've been done stronger but it was a great story overall.
Winterwood has that hauntingly whimsical feel that I am sure certain readers would immediately fall in love with. It's a great winter read - the sound of crackling logs in the background, a cup of warm cocoa and a piece of matcha donut within reach while snow is gently falling outside. 🍂

December TBR 🎄 When I moved a few months ago, I didn't bring that many books. And because I am leaving again after a few more months, I wasn't keen on buying physical books because hello how much will I pay for baggage? I broke down last month. I bought a few books. I am determined to buy only what I know I can read considering my schedule and all. So far, so good. I will also be reading Starsight ❤️ and Blood Heir. I am so excited for both. Starsight because I can't wait for more M-Bot and Blood Heir because I want to know why the controversy over its publication. 😅 I have also resigned myself to the fact that I might not reach my Goodreads goal this year. It's okay, there's 2020. What are you most excited to read this month? #TBR . . . . #GoodReads #booklove #read #igbooks #bookishlove #instareads #bookphotography #bookaholic #ilovebooks #currentlyreading #bookworm #bookcommunity #booksofinstagram #booklover #bibliophile #booktography #bookstagramista #unitedbookstagram #bookstagramph #culturetripbooks #bookish #booksmagazine #bookstagrammer #mybookfeatures #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstack https://www.instagram.com/p/B5jt9QtH9MX/?igshid=acckw58omwba

It occurs to me that my house is filled with strangers: with a boy who I found in the forest and a girl who up until a few days ago would have probably laughed at ne if I'd asked to borrow a pencil in history class. And I like the feeling: a house brimming, bursting. Filled with so many beating hearts.

Why not? We could eat pastries for breakfast and gelato for dinner and fall in love with whoever we want. We wouldn't even have to learn French, we could just let the boys whisper their foreign words in our ears and love track of the year.

It can be a burden to know your family history - to belong in a place so completely that you understand every hiss from the trees, the familiar pattern of spiraling ferns, the sounds of the lake crackling in the winter. The certainty that something isn't right, even if you can't quite see what it is.

Sticky tabs, highlighter, post it notes or leave them be? How do you mark your favorite lines? I'm not sure when but I started using sticky tabs this past year. Mostly because I like the look of it? Funny because I used to think it makes the book look messy 🤷‍♀️ It is pretty convenient though to just skim through the tabbed pages if I want to look for a particular line I think I liked and want to quote. On a different note, I'm sorry for the dirty windows 😅 No time to wipe them, but I think they added character to the photo, right? 😁 . . . . . #GoodReads #booklove #read #igbooks #bookishlove #instareads #bookphotography #bookaholic #ilovebooks #booknerd #bookworm #bookcommunity #booksofinstagram #booklover #bibliophile #booktography #bookstagramista #unitedbookstagram #riotgrams #bookstagramph #culturetripbooks #bookish #booksmagazine #bookstagrammer #mybookfeatures #booksofinstagram #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B43JkYlAkrV/?igshid=1iokwq3i06l6k

And in books, those with nothing to lose often become the villain. This is how their story begins - with loss and sadness that quickly turns into anger and spite and no turning back.
