She wants to protect you both. Also, don't most dogs just like babies?"

lore drop: shelbee the hellhound

sam accidentally declared himself king of hell after massacring like 30 demons in 14x1

and apparently, in doing so, he manifested his own personal hell hound

at first, he wanted nothing to do with it and kept sending her to hell or off on errands to keep her distracted (and away from dean)

but sam is a dog lover through and through, so shelbee eventually won him over and sam allowed her to stay on the property outside the bunker

later, when sam inherited rowena's estate, shelbee came with him and started to act as a spiritual guardian to the land, house, and the absurd amount of pets sam has acquired

she is invisible most of the time unless sam asks or unless you're psychic enough to see her naturally

she is also obsessed with @lilyspaintedred newborn baby

she is shaped like a corgi and wolf had a baby

this is her natural form, but she can make herself much scarier

she kind of acts like a witch's familiar to sam

she is always warm and if it feels like you're standing next to a cozy furnace then you're probably standing next to shelbee
