Photograph by Louise Dahl-Wolfe for the March 1944 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. The model is posing in front of one of the sculptures known as Etruscan terraccota warriors, long believed to be of Etruscan origin. They were proven to be forgeries in the 1960s. The statues were, in fact, created by Italian brothers Pio and Alfonso Riccardi and three of their six sons, and then bought by The Metropolitan Museum of Art between 1915 and 1921.
