I do wanna preface that this is no shade to Astral’s character though. His racism is kinda the point of this whole scene, and it’s supposed to be what sets Yuma apart from him

When they encounter an enraged Alito that is NOTHING like the person they met previously, Astral immediately blames it on the fact that he is a Barian, a species that is inherently evil. To Astral, the fact that Alito was friendly to them before must have been a fluke, and his evilness was always hidden within him, just waiting to come out

However, Yuma dismisses Astral’s accusations completely, refusing to believe that Alito’s species is what defines him. He himself decides that something else must be affecting Alito, that him being a Barian has nothing to do with the sudden change in his demeanor

Like, I still think it’s fucked up that Astral is super barianphobic to Yuma’s funny red alien friend despite Yuma have a huge fondness towards Alito, but it’s a clever way to outline their perspectives simply by how they view this corrupted Alito (as well as to how it plays into the finale, where Yuma fights for the Barians’ survival as much as the Astrals’)

Nothings more fucked up to me than when Astral had one (1) negative encounter with Alito, who has been friendly, helpful, and fair to them since their first meeting, and immediately went:

“SEE! SEE! I TOLD YOU—ALL BARIANS ARE INNATELY EVIL, DISGUSTING SCUM AND MUST BE ERADICATED!”

Like no that’s alito, he’s a sweet and good boy!!!! Stop being prejudice against barians!!! He was so quick to turn on the poor guy :(
