Okay BethRip fans, need opinions!

I'm considering writing an AU fanfic that is based on "what if" Beth had actually left after her fight with John in Season 4 Ep 9. She would return to the ranch after John dies and need to repair her relationship with both Rip and Carter as they struggle to save the ranch.

My question is: is this even a plausible premise? Would Beth ever leave Rip at that point? They were engaged and planning to get married. Would she break that promise? S1 Beth yes. S4 Beth I'm not sure.

If the premise isn't plausible I don't want to waste my time writing it! So please be honest. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
