i am a john walker fan. i think he is very well written and i find complex characters very interesting. and i find him very fun to watch which is why i like him. i also like analysing the little details of his character

HOWEVER, this does absolutely not mean that i hate sam wilson. i adore sam and i think he is a fantastic captain america. he is a good person and the exact kind of hero that mcu america needs. he is captain america and i am very proud of him. he’s always been a favourite of mine

john walker is not captain america. he is not the right fit. he cannot handle the pressure of what the shield means and the expectations that come with it. sam can, which is why the shield belongs to him.

HOWEVER, i love walker as us agent. when those pressures that brought out the worst in him are removed, he is able to do good and help people. being a thunderbolt brought out the best in him. which goes to prove why it is a GOOD thing that he is not captain america

the difference with sam is that the pressure of the shield brought out the best in sam. sam is a better man with the shield. walker is better without it

i know some walker fans are DISGUSTING towards sam and i never want to be associated with those people. the people who claim that walker is a good cap take away all the interesting things about his character and shouldn’t call themselves fans

anyway sam wilson is MY captain america!! <3

there is a big difference between a character who has made mistakes but cares about others and a character who is truly evil and torments people for fun

also big shoutout to my friend who knows a lot more about homelander than me and helped me write this post. when i pointed out that people were making this comparison his first reaction was “what the fuck”

bearing in mind, he is indifferent to walker and is the first to point out his flaws. so this information has come from someone who is a lot less biased than i am

i just saw a few tweets saying that john walker is very similar to homelander. i have never been so confused by a john take in my life

a key part of john’s character is that he wants to help and save people, especially civilians. in tfatws that was his main priority. and even after his mental breakdown (idk if this is the right term) this part of his character is still present. he chooses to save the van full of people instead of going after karli. if that was homelander, he would have killed the van of people and karli… and laughed about it.

john’s first instinct when the void attacks is to get civilians off the streets. this man was involved in hostage rescue missions. homelander intentionally let over 200 people die in a plane crash for pleasure. he kills civilians just because he can. that is literally the opposite of john walker

another point i saw someone make is that they’re similar bc they both never take the opportunity to be better…did we not actually watch thunderbolts? john being on that team IS him taking an opportunity. him helping to save bob IS him doing that. him following yelena’s lead IS him doing that. we also saw him doing it at the end of tfatws when he chose saving people over revenge. that IS him being better.

yes the both have anger issues, but the severity of it is pretty different. hulk has anger issues. thor had anger issues. rocket has anger issues. wolverine has anger issues. are you comparing them to homelander? no

and this doesn’t even cover the fucked up shit that homelander has done that wouldn’t even cross walker’s mind.

you don’t have to like john. he does have flaws and has made bad choices. but if you’re going to hate him, at least do it for something he’s actually done

guys i don’t think it’s that deep. i think wyatt just didn’t want to risk spoilers or is confused about what is going on in the movie (remember, him and hannah said only a month ago that they hadn’t read a proper script yet)
