ON SALE NOW! Heart-shaped STICKER featuring MARÍA FÉLIX in Enoramorada (E. Fernández, 1946). TWO VERSIONS: (1) B&W photo collage and (2) color digital painting. Maria Félix is one of the leading actresses from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. She quickly developed her on-screen persona as a haughty, scheming independent woman, often seen scamming rich men, living the most luxurious of lives and wearing the most fashionable of outfits. In direct contrast to the typical female role of the time, María was arrogant, opinionated and always in charge of her own destiny. She defied traditional female expectations within a conservative Catholic Latin American society. #mariafelix #maríafélix #ladona #ladoña #cinemexicano #mexicancinema #stickers #latina #latinastickers #latinx #latinas #mujerlatina #stationary #mexicanactress #goldenage #cinedeoro (at Los Angeles, California)

This is a project I’ve been working on for a while. I remember when I first started becoming interested in film, I was immediately drawn to all the stars: Maria Felix, Dolores del Rio, Katy Jurado. However, whenever I went to any latinx shop to look for merch to rep, the only things I would see were FRIDA INSPIRED EVERYTHING. So, this project is an attempt to combat that. As Latinx people, we have an immense history and culture to draw from, and I don’t think we should just limit ourselves to learn from just one icon. All these artists have their own individual bodies of work, aesthetics, styles, politics. I think each of them is a world to delve into and discover. That said I printed a few stickers. They’re pretty rad, iyam.
