Annabel tried to "kill" her beloveds best friend and has probably completely broken Lenores heart now that she's learned the truth. She also set herself up for her own worst fear to actually be realised, which is losing Lenores love and trust in her. I know that she probably has excuses/reasons that she can try to use to justify her choice, but that doesn't make it hurt any less. For example, it seems like they were going to get rid of someone either way and she most likely tried to protect Lenore by nominating Duke instead. When she and Lenore were discussing the original plan she talked about them keeping eachother safe by diverting their allies attention away from the other. From her perspective she might just be sticking to said plan, no matter how messed up it is. She still, like Ada, made the choice to not tell Lenore about what happened to Duke even when they were alone together though.

Philip, Belos or whatever name he chooses to go by really is a monster. He let his hatred and bigotry fester in both his mind and body for centuries and then spread his poison over the rest of the demonrealm in order to reshape the inhabitants history and society to fit his ideals and ambitions. Their society is now led by an old egoistic and manipulative murderer who wants nothing more than to kill everyone in it. I previously had a hard time understanding what it was that he actually wanted to accomplish, but turns out it's just death. Genocide.

Jane Eyre: My backstory is that I grew up as an abused orphan and was for better or worse essentially abandoned by my relatives. I also had to experience my best friend dying in my arms when I was still nothing but a child.

Mr. Rochester: My backstory is that I was made to marry an insane woman. Therefore, I spent ten years living a luxurious life traveling around europe while also having multiple mistresses.

Mr Rochester: I'm such a tragic byronic hero!

While I'm super excited that we're getting the Chroma Conclave arc as well, I just have no idea how they could possibly fit all that content into 12 episodes 😅. Like, not only do they need to fight all those dragons (I don't really think this is a spoiler considering the ending of season 1), but they also need to collect the *insert spoiler* as well. Hopefully season 2 is longer or we'll get another season to focus on this arc as well, there are so many great moments and storylines and I would be very sad to see it rushed because of constrictions.
