Kate’s Dorm Room: Room Raiders

Their room itself is pretty tidy.

Her room is quite plain and doesn’t have many decorations.

Their desk is tidy, her books are set up neatly, almost as though they’ve never been touched.

The only thing she has in their room hanging up is the lgbt flag and the lesbian flag, other than that everything is not very well decorated because they’ve never had the motivation to do much with her room.

“This is much different than the last time you came over so if you’re nervous, it’s okay, it’s understandable, I get it,” she whispered looking at the blonde moving to take her hand and squeeze it, “we can do whatever you’re comfortable with, I know it’s meant to be that I’m in control but the last thing I want to do is make you feel like you can’t tell me something,” they whispered softly.

Kate knew that she when they voted, Kara was at the top of their lists, of course the mock claim could’ve gone in any direction but she would’ve been disappointed had they not ended up with Kara, especially because of how they started to feel about her. It was different, something she hadn’t felt in a long time… the question was, what were they to one another, that’s what they needed to figure out, she supposed, perhaps together.

Kate wasn’t going to lie, she was worried about Kara, especially with what went down, but when it seemed it didn’t go anywhere, they were almost… relieved for her, glad she didn’t have to suffer through that. She was also glad that their secret didn’t exactly turn many heads, or at least she assumed it didn’t.

Kara made her feel safe, after everything that happened with her mother and her sister all those years ago on her birthday no less, she had felt alone and before Kara, she did have someone but Kate was the type of person to not have attachments, hell she knew what love was but she didn’t say it much growing up so Kara? They were terrified of feeling something real, knowing that it could disappear any second, she didn’t want that, she wanted Kara, she knew that much at least…

“I’m really glad I’m here, Kate, I mean I know I’ve been to your suite before but… well obviously this is a little different…”

Kara wouldn’t lie, she had been more than a bit worried about the mock claims and who she would end up with, obviously she wanted to stay with Kate, but… even besides her growing affections for her partner- was that ok? Could she say that yet? Were they partners now?- there was another reason she had been nervous

In all honesty, she was still aching pretty badly from the secrets that had been dropped a few weeks ago, and although it looked like no one really cared or even noticed her secret, she didn’t feel like she could trust most people at this point, how could she know if someone was secretly helping out these horrible hackers or not? How could she trust that they weren’t going to just lure her into a false sense of security and then turn on her and call immigration? And even more than that, on the less extreme side, she couldn’t think of any Dominants or Switches who she really had any kind of solid relationship with, anything past a few general greetings, the thought of letting someone she didn’t know have so much control over her was…. terrifying…. and the idea of spending the week away from Kate made her want to scream

Because Kate was her one and only security blanket through all this, she had become so dependent on them without even really meaning to, and all that vulnerability that scared the life out of her with anyone else just felt exhilarating and freeing with Kate

…She maybe was starting to fall in love…

Kate shook their head and looked into her eyes, cupping her cheeks, “baby when I tell you it’s going to be okay, I promise you it will be okay, I won’t let anyone take you away from me okay?” She asked, sighing shakily.

God she shouldn’t be so damn nervous but with Kara it was hard not to be so nervous.

“They are not taking you away, alright? I’ll find a way, I always find a way but you are not going anywhere okay?” They asked pushing her hair away from her face, she could practically feel the panic radiating from her and they were trying her best to not do the same.

“It might not ever be the same again, but believe me when I say you’re safe here with me and I’m going to keep you safe I will protect you, alright?” She asked, and as she wrapped their arms around Kara and felt her sobbing into them, she ran a hand through her hair, “I’ve got you remember? I’ve got you,” she mumbled pressing a kiss to her head just holding her.

No…. no no no no no no! This couldn’t be happening!

The second her photos popped up, Kara dropped her phone, the world around her had begun to spin quickly, her entire body drenched with a cold sweat as her breathing picked up into a panicking, hyperventilating rush, she felt sick to her stomach, her hands shaking like leaves as she shifted between the urge to sit down, the urge to burst into tears, and the urge to throw her guts up

Everything was just happening so…. fast.…

And before she knew it, she was on the ground, a hand clutching her chest, she couldn’t…. breathe…. everything was so loud and fast and bright and she still. couldn’t. BREATHE.

Kate didn’t know how to feel. She was angry, she was upset, not that she’d ever show it and everything in between. But when she saw Kara? Her world fell apart. 

She ran over to her, “hey, hey, Kara look at me baby, look at me,” she whispered, “deep breaths, in,” she took a deep breath, “and out,” she breathed out, “in… and out, Kara, hey, look at me you’re okay, I’ve got you okay?” They asked wrapping an arm around her instantly and moved her to a bench where they could sit down.

She took the phone slowly out of her hand, “just focus on me, okay? Just focus, you’re going to be fine, it’s going to be fine, okay, I swear,” they muttered, pressing a kiss to her forehead, “I’ve got you,” she mumbled softly, running a hand up and down slowly on her back. Kate didn’t know how to do much, but caring for someone she cared for, especially when it came to Kara, was so damn easy, it was scary.
