finally managed to think up a name for this au and its the ‘adopt an alternate’ au so here’s some old-ish (i gave up on the background that’s why it looks that way) art i didn’t post to commemorate it :3

hello tmc fandom and specifically despairduo enjoyers, i return with offerings :)

i’ve had this au for awhile, at least a bit after either catalyst or presto if memory serves me correctly (haven’t fully plotted it out yet and i need to give it a proper name)

the basic premise of it is that it’s three years after the events of vol 333 (1995) and Thatcher is going past the house Ruth died/the abandoned murray house (since it’s mentioned in vol 4 he does that a lot :,) ) when one night whilst going past it he sees a light from one of the house’s windows that disappears as quickly as it came which leads to Thatcher investigating it and finding Adam who mere minutes ago was kicked out of the tv in original Adam’s old bedroom, any and all memories of ever being an alternate repressed.

Long story short, Thatcher mistakes Adam for the kidnapped child from the Murray case and takes him in knowing both of his ‘parents’ are dead (it starts off as a temporary arrangement but that quickly goes out the window when Thatcher is unable to find anyone willing to take Adam in) and Adam, mostly confused by his own circumstances, goes along with it. At first things aren’t great, with Thatcher not knowing how the hell to look after this 7 year old kid he found (he’s trying <3) and Adam not really knowing how to act like a human yet but being naturally unpleasant due to being an alternate but after awhile they start to warm up to each other and found family ensues!

Yes Thatcher does realise Adam is an alternate at one point. It does cause some temporary angst because the trauma got hands but it get resolved :)

Thatcher gets free therapy in the form of cryptid son and Adam gets a parent and to learn how to become more human (they’re still an angry little shit though/aff)

For both their pronouns in this au:

Thatcher — he/him (transmasc)

Adam — all + it/it’s (agender. they do not care about gender in the slightest)

my brain said “draw adam as six from little nightmares” for no reason and i went alright why not, it was originally gonna be just a simple sketch but i ended up going kind of nuts with the lighting

+ also a jonah as mono (with the tin can hat) sketch because both jonah and adam and six and mono are duos you can’t seperate (despite what happens in tmc and LN 2 canon)
