victor's no stranger to being followed , be it by man or by pokemon. the sensation of eyes on him makes the hair on his neck stand upright , alerting him to a presence that makes no effort to hide itself , not that he expects it to. then again , it's not as though he ever expected to stare death in the face , literally or figuratively. perhaps another trainer might've asked what yveltal wanted with them , or another might've felt fear.

but the champion is no stranger to death , no matter what form it takes.

victor doesn't bother looking when he speaks , though ace chatters nervously at his side. one encounter is coincidence , but a second does not go unnoticed. this time , however , was less metaphorical. though he'd been scared before , victor only offers a smile now , placing a reassuring hand on his partner's head before facing yveltal head-on.

' i presume it's a bit early for me to meet my maker. '

his dry humor does little to to comfort ace , & the cinderace makes distressed chatter , clinging to victor's side. he's quick to soothe his partner before composing himself once more , posing a question.

thinking abt victor and ace...that's his lil guy

this isn't as. Formal as i wanted it to be but i have the thoughts and i'm in pain so this is what we get. under the cut for the typical death talk.

victor's mother, eliza marie carmichael ( née bellamy ) was originally born in the kalos region. she and her parents moved to galar when she was just a child, and she spent much of her youth in hammerlocke. though she had no interest in the gym challenge, she did spend much of her time around them, which was how she met her munchlax, alongside a skiddo she'd befriended as a child and a sunflora. she also has an eevee that was a gift from her late husband as a means of courting her, though it has since evolved into an espeon. eliza met the man who would be her husband in her late teens during the time she spent in wyndon observing the championship bracket of gym challenge, where he promised that if he won, he'd ask her out. he lost rather horribly, but she agreed to go out with him anyways. she started dating him at 19 years old, and they married a few short years later when liza was 22. victor was born when she was 26. it was eliza's decision to move to postwick as she felt the country would be a better place to raise a child, and they bought a house in the sleepy town just before victor's first birthday.

victor's father, ramsey shepherd carmichael, was born and raised in hulbury, with his father having been a fisherman and his mother a gym trainer. from a young age, he was surrounded by pokemon, and took up the gym challenge as soon as he was able to. it ended in a wash, unfortunately, but he soon found work with the macro cosmos corporation, working on railroads and the monorail system in wyndon. he met eliza during his gym challenge, when he entered the championship bracket at 18 years old alongside his partner, dina. though he lost, he asked her out anyways, and gifted her an eevee after she had mentioned it was her favorite pokemon. the two of them were married after a few short years, and before long had a son together. ramsey continued to work in wyndon, though his family had moved to postwick shortly after victor was born. though ramsey worked long shifts and was often away, he tried to come home whenever he could to spend time with his wife and son..

when victor was 12, his mother received the news that her husband had passed in an unfortunate accident with the monorail. he was 36 when he died in a monorail collapse that made the news. they received generous compensation for ramsey's death, and eliza and victor continued to live in the quiet town of postwick. ramsey's partner, an indeedee he named dina was returned to eliza as well, though after the loss of her trainer, she was never the same. eliza was distraught after losing her partner of nearly 20 years, but she did her best to continue raising victor. ramsey's indeedee passed a few short years after her trainer, unable to cope with the loss, and unwilling to go on without him. she has a small memorial in the backyard, alongside eliza's skiddo.

victor grew up surrounded by pokemon from a young age and got along tremendously well with them. he was loved dearly by both his parents and their pokemon, and the exposure influenced him to become a pokemon trainer from a young age. he didn't know much of his father, as he was gone most of the time, and his father's death didn't have as much emotional impact on him as it did his mother, though he still grieves the loss of dina, who he deeply cared for.

now that he's champion, victor keeps a few of his pokemon at the house alongside his mother, namely his minccino and his rockruff, both of whom dislike battling and much prefer to be companions. eliza takes good care of them alongside her own pokemon, and victor visits as often as his champion duties allow him to.
