The Horrors. we all know of them.

I love what we've done with the word "ratatouille." It's kinda like how we fucked up the popular understanding of the word inception, except we borrowed a word from a language we usually copy 1:1 and assigned it a wildly unrelated meaning. Hell with the tomatoes. Steer that man by his hair.

Americans genuinely cannot comprehend how seriously Europeans take partying. I didn't comprehend it until I was there, and able to observe how all European infrastructure is built around supporting the public right to cross three national borders to go to an illegal rave in a world war ii ruin while chain-smoking and drinking Club Mate. this sounds like a joke but I'm not kidding Europeans never mention it because to them it's normal, Americans never mention it because we can't conceive of a world where bars don't bodily throw you out the front doors at 1:45am to drive home drunk (the busses stopped running at 10pm and there are no trains) because if they don't they will be fined millions of dollars by the city and raided by police for violating the municipal Gay in Public ordinance which persists on the books of the "most progressive city in the country"

I don't see anyone here talking about this brand, so I'd like to recommend Muzzy to dollblr! I just received my first doll– the Palestinian Mina– and I'm obsessed. They're very soft and cuddly and EXTREMELY cute!

Muzzy was started in 2021 by an American Muslim couple who wanted to provide a good role model and good representation for their children. Mina is their first doll, a Palestinian-American girl who just turned thirteen and got her new hijab, which magically changes color based on her experiences and emotions; multi-colored hijabs are also available separately. While she's the only doll so far, their FAQ lists that they plan to drop a black doll (presumably her friend Luna) and a boy doll sometime this year.

Specifically the Palestinian Mina doll– with a kuffiyeh and tatreez dress– donates 100% of its net proceeds to the HEAL Palestine charity. This is the doll I purchased, and she's very high quality, very sweet, and extremely lovable and huggable. Mina is also a very adorable character as well, and I adore her picture book illustrations.

I know I'm mostly followed by American Girl fans, but if you're looking for any Palestinian dolls, any Muslim dolls, or just something sweet to cuddle up with, give Mina a look!

me: I think we as feminists have bullied women of submissive persuasion into feeling really insecure and defensive. and it gets us lines like "I like it when you take control / even though you know that you don't / own me." I think what bothers me about this bit is how timid and wishy-washy it is. like, if she were describing sex that was second-wave approved and trying to sketch out a poetics of eroticism that wasn't based on a power differential, that would be something. if she were to say something boiling down to "I like it when you take control, you literally own me, you can saw off my leg and eat it if you want to," that would be something. "I like it when you take control but you don't own me" is just like... nothing. it's such a nothing of a line

In case you're wondering what raising a kid in a polyamorous family looks like, our kid just has. Zero concept of monogamy. Like we've explained it to her many times but she just like. Forgets it's a thing and the assumed cultural norm. We're showing her Lord of the a Rings and she was very confused when Aragon rejected Eowyn.

"Wait, I thought they liked each other??"

"She likes him but he's already with Arwen."

"So?? He could just be with both??"
