For the record, I always thought your nerd side was cute, Simon. {I aired out with a soft, doting smile. The smile lingering across my lips as I listened to what he had to say. I recalled Clary telling me that Simon was going to be going on tour, which added to why the timing still felt off between us. As much as I wanted to ask Simon to stay, I knew I couldn't. It would be selfish of me to do so... He deserved this tour. He earned it, and I knew it was exactly what he needed. His music was something he was passionate about. It was where he seemed most himself, so even though it would break my heart all over again to watch Simon leave, I knew this was the right move for him... It was the move that would make him happy, and that's all I wanted for Simon was happiness... For him to find his bliss... Even if timing and circumstances meant that would be far away from me all over again} I'm happy for you, Simon. You deserve this tour, and I know you're going to do amazingly. {I leaned in to press a tender, loving kiss to his lips before I slowly retracted with a smile} I'll never forget you, Simon Lewis. I can promise you that. {I assured him as I gave his hand a gentle squeeze} Are you going to be okay getting home? {I knew Simon was strong and independent, but after this latest near-death experience he got himself into, I just wanted him to be safe}
@geekwithfangs
Well, I don’t recall a time that you’ve managed to get yourself on my bad side yet, so it seems the odds of that happening are unlikely, and therefore, in your favor. {I aired out in a teasing tone; all the while a soft, playful grin laced across my lips. It felt refreshing to be with Simon again. Even more so upon learning that his memories of me and our relationship had returned too. My only disappointment in all of this was a year had gone by since Simon and I were last together like this. We lost a whole year… I’m just relieved that we are back together with one another now. In fact, now that we found our way back to one another, I had no intentions of losing Simon again; even if that means literally whipping Clary into shape, if she opts to break another rule that could take Simon from me. No, it was time for Clary to begin answering for her own mistakes, because so far, the only people who felt the affects and costs from her mistakes were the rest of us. I silently considered as Simon and I made our way toward the destination he had in mind} It’s okay. I assure you, you’re forgiven. I mean, in spite of how perfect and sweet you are, I don’t expect you to remember every outfit I ever wore when you and I were together. {I added with a lingering grin} All that matters is that you remember us. {I genuinely pointed out as we continued the familiar walk toward the park; assuming that’s where Simon was guiding us} You’re not a geek, Simon. A bit of a dork, yes, but an incredibly cute and charming dork… One that I am head over heels in love with. {I said with a doting grin as I leaned in closer to Simon while we walked} All that matters is that fate brought us back together once more. Just so you know, I have no intentions of losing you again though; no matter what, you’re stuck with me, Simon Lewis. {Although a hint of playfulness was in my voice, I did mean every word of that. I was in love with Simon, so naturally I would do everything in my power to avoid the feeling of losing him all over again} You have nothing to worry about, Simon, I won’t let anything happen to either one of us. {I assured Simon as he joined me here on the ground; prompting me to nestle in closer to him while we watched the bright, starlit sky together} Tonight really has been perfect… Here’s to the first of many perfect and unforgettable nights for the two of us.

Simon, I never wanted to keep you a secret... I never planned to keep us a secret either... I fully intended on us going out on dates and we could go anywhere you want. I'm not ashamed of being with you. Literally the only condition was that the Institute is off limits. You can't be at the institute. Simple as that. No mundane or downworlder is allowed inside there. Not even Magnus unless they need his help with a case. The Clave blames Clary for all of those years of broken laws and unsanctioned missions, so they are cracking down on things now, and because of that, they're watching Alec, Jace, Clary, and I very closely. They're looking for any reason to rip us of our runes and to ban us. That said, if they were to find out that the memory wipe they did on you didn't work, they would be angry, and would inevitably retaliate. The Clave doesn't like to feel foolish... I just can't take that risk, Simon, which is why you, Magnus, and anyone who isn't a shadowhunter needs to stay out of the Institute. {I explained. Not that it would matter since I tried explaining all of this last night, but to Simon it seemed like an all or nothing thing. He didn't seem to care about the implications of breaking the Clave's law. Like he was above The Clave's laws; even while knowing those implications would come down on me and those that I love the most} I want you safe, yes, because I love you, but I want to protect my family too... Protecting those I love is who I am; even if I don't always like what that protection entails. That doesn't mean you're too weak to take care of yourself. You're not weak, Simon. You're brave and relentless. Those are traits I admire about you, but regardless of that, because I love you, it's in my nature to protect you. {I quietly explained as I lifted my hand to gently wipe some of the blood on his forehead before lowering my hand once more} It means a lot to me to know you'd always be there to protect me too.

{I made a face when I heard Simon's words. I had a feeling he was trying to use some of that mundane sense of humor that they used to try and make situations less awkward, but I wasn't in the mood for dry humor right now. Especially when it was laced with truth in it. I was always one of those people who believed people should just say what they need to say. No filters or chasers. Candor is my thing... Even if it doesn't always feel the best} Simon, let's be clear on something... {I started to say in a calm tone. Wanting him to see that although I didn't like how things turned out between us, I still love him and deeply care about him} I will always care about you. We may not agree on how to handle the affairs of the rules set out by the Institute, and apparently that is a deal-breaker, of sorts for you, but that doesn't mean I won't always be there for you when you need me. You were in danger and I didn't hesitate to come to your aid... That won't change. No matter what. I know you are brave and independent, and I love that about you, but regardless of that, if and when you need me, I will always be there for you. {I gave a chaste nod. Yes, Simon and I may have our differences, but no matter what, I did love him, and would always desire his best interest and safety}

{I could see the terror radiating from Simon's eyes as the demon hovered over him; preparing to finish him off. Before he had the chance, I protectively got in between Simon and the demon; using my whip to keep him at bay until I got off the perfect shot to turn him to dust. No sooner doing so before Simon maneuvered up onto shaky legs; prompting me to back in closer to him as a means of protection since I knew demons always traveled in packs. The thought no sooner coming to mind when an arrow flew by us as Alec took out another demon that had approached. As I retrieved my sword with my free hand and fought off other demons that rushed toward us, I watched Simon grab a metal pipe before he used it to fight off what appeared to be the last of the demons. At that, I exhaled a sigh of relief. Simon looked worn for the wear, but he was alive, so that was definitely a relief to me. Given how we ended things between us last night, I considered just walking away now without saying a word to Simon. Clary could see to it that he got home safely. Besides, he made it clear he didn't want nor need my help... That he wasn't helpless nor a wimp, and yet here we are not even twenty-four hours later. Mind you, I, in no way, ever saw Simon as a wimp or helpless. I knew he could hold his own, but this wasn't about him defending himself against another mundane. It was the supernatural dangers that I worried about harming him. Even so, in hearing him say my name, I paused and turned to fully face him} "I'll be right over here if you need me, Iz." {I heard Alec say as a means of giving Simon and I a chance to speak... Not that this was necessarily the time or place to hash out things further, but regardless, I gave Simon my attention; giving him a nod as a means of letting him know he could say whatever it was that he wanted to now} Are you okay? Did they hurt you, Simon? {I asked first as a means of ensuring he was okay. I was upset with him, but I still obviously cared about his safety and well-being. With that though, I wanted to make sure the demons hadn't managed to cause him any kind of concerning injury prior to our arrival}

"There! That scream! That was Simon!" {Clary said in urgency as we followed suit in the direction where the seeming fear was coming from. I had my whipped clenched instinctively in my palms and Alec shot me a look as we started through the darkness. I could hear the increasing sound of deep heart beats and panic growing more evident with each step we took. There was real danger here. I could sense it} "Ahhh, a demon came to play... I hope you brought some friends with you." {I heard Jace chime in as the demon came into view. I saw Simon down on the ground and I instinctively walked over to where he was; positioning myself protectively in front of him and between him and the demon. Judging by the way the chilling sensation moved through my arms, I knew Jace was right about more joining this one demon. They did tend to travel in groups, so we needed to remain on guard. Alec moved to my side as the other demons joined in. All four of us armed now as we waited for the demons to make the first defensive move, so we could turn each one of them to dust} "Let's send this assholes back to hell where they belong!" {I heard Clary say as she and Jace maneuvered back to back with swords in hand as they started destroying the demons closest to them. By now I flicked my wrist and used my deadly whip to take out the ones who had approached Alec and I, while Alec shot off a few arrows to take out a few others... Twenty demons in all had come into view and were destroyed by us. Now we waited in our defensive stances to see if more would join in the fight... Preparing to take them out too, should the need arise}

{I was circled around the information board with Alec and Jace; listening as Alec filled us in on a new batch of demons that were flooding the city. Jace asked a few questions and then followed up with some suggestions on how best to handle the latest threat. Before Alec could respond, Clary rushed toward us; informing us in a worried voice that Simon was requesting help. Jace immediately blew it off; claiming he probably just got a paper cut, misplaced his glasses, or his request for help wasn't a warranted one, but Clary insisted Simon was in trouble} "How do you know he's in danger? I don't see where that is implied in his text?" {Alec asked before looking at me for some sort of answer on how I wanted to handle this since Simon was my ex, and I obviously still harbored feelings for him} "Maybe his "help" is a block on lyrics for a song, Clary. You know Simon. He can be overly dramatic at times." {Jace tried to reason, but I saw Clary look to me in pleading. I didn't want to come face to face with Simon after how we left things, but one thing I knew for sure was if I ignored it and something did happen to Simon, I'd never forgive myself for doing nothing at all} Let's go check it out. We can teleport there, and if it turns out to be nothing, Clary can stay, and the rest of us can teleport out of there again. {I suggested which prompted Alec to sigh audibly before reluctantly nodding in agreement} "Fine. Let's go make sure the mundane didn't get himself stuck in a studio closet or something." {Alec muttered out as the four of us quickly suited up and then used the rune to teleport to the destination Simon alerted Clary too. I had already made up my mind that I'd stay back with Alec while Clary and Jace went in first to see what was wrong. This way, if it really was nothing at all, Alec and I could immediately leave there again, without Simon ever knowing I was there at all}

{Alec stayed with me in the sparring ring for the next hour or so. For his part, it helped a bit, but I still couldn't shake the feeling of how hurt I was over Simon. Simon had changed, which in a sense, I liked the new fearless side of him. I appreciated how brave he was, and also how he didn't want to hide in fear from the consequences of The Clave once they learned the memory wipe didn't work. This went beyond all of that though. This was mine, Alec, and my family's lives that would be put in potentially life-threatening danger if Simon showed up here at The Institute and The Clave found out about it. The thing was... The part that really infuriated me was that Simon didn't care about any of that. He didn't care that he was putting mine, Alec's, and our family's life in danger. All Simon cared about was doing what he wanted. He was stubborn and a bit of a selfish ass, as far as I was concerned. His way or no way. The jerk. I thought in building anger as Alec left to take care of some Institute business while I remained in the sparring ring to train a bit more on my own. The part I didn't understand was is that I wasn't intending to keep Simon a secret. I fully intended to date him out in public. I wasn't planning to hide him or our relationship. Literally my only condition was that Simon couldn't come here to The Institute since that would break a law set out by The Clave. The law was simple, if you weren't a shadowhunter, you weren't allowed inside The Institute. Even Magnus wasn't allowed here, which he nor Alec seemed to be bothered by, yet for Simon, it was the end of the world. Even if him showing up meant mine, Alec, and our family's head on The Clave chopping block, it didn't matter. It was Simon's way or not way. That was fine though. Our relationship was over, and maybe that was for the best. I thought in building anger as I continued to train with my whip and then some with my sword as well; hoping to relieve some of the anger I was feeling now so that I could hopefully get some much-needed sleep tonight}

{I took my time walking back to the Institute. Knowing I wasn't in any rush to fill Alec or the others in on what happened between Simon and I. Of course from Alec I expected an "I told you so" type of remark, which I knew would just make me mad. Whereas Clary would probably give me some kind of advice that I wasn't in the mood to hear. At least not from her, I should say. Especially since I still blamed her for the fact that Simon and I weren't together now. In fact, if she hadn't gone out of her way to break yet another rule to make The Clave angry and to charge her with a fitting consequence, Simon wouldn't have gone with a memory wipe to protect her, and him and I would have never broken up. So much time had passed since then, and although Simon still had the sight, it seemed, he had changed in all other ways. He had become stubborn, hard-headed, and selfish. Only caring and seeming to be fixated on what he wanted, over the risk that could come to Alec, me, Clary, and Jace, as a result. The thing was, I wasn't wanting to keep him a secret. I still agreed we'd go on dates like a couple of mundanes. We could be seen in public or wherever. Literally my /only/ exception to that was that Simon couldn't come to the Institute. I didn't see the big deal with that though. I mean, Alec was married to Magnus, and even they both understood why Magnus wasn't allowed at the Institute. It didn't drive a wedge between them because unlike Simon, Magnus respected the rule set forth by the Clave that nobody except shadowhunters are permitted to enter the Institute. Magnus cared more about Alec and his safety than he did walking inside a building. My head shaking in building frustration toward Simon as I reached the Institute. Using my keycard to access the private entrance before making my way inside} Not now. {I said to Clary as I saw her approach me with a questioning look. Making it clear in my tone and response that she was the last person I wanted to speak to right now} "Give her some space. I don't think things went well with her and the mundane." {I heard Jace say to Clary as he took her hand and I paid no mind to anyone as I continued toward my bed quarters. Once I made it inside, I tossed my purse down onto the chair in the corner of my room and then I exhaled a loud sigh. Not at all surprise to hear Alec's voice air out behind me} "Let's go train." {I heard him suggest. Knowing why he was choosing this suggestion over asking me if I wanted to talk about it. For one, Alec wasn't one who felt comfortable discussing feelings; especially in regard to who I was in a relationship with, but two, Alec was smart enough to know that while we train with the weaponry, I'd end up spilling to him what I was upset about} Fine. {I said flatly and sighed as I quickly went into my bathroom to change into my sparring clothes before leaving with him for the training room} "Want me to murder the mundane?" {Alec asked with a joking tone as he wrapped a supportive arm around my shoulder while we walked toward the desired room} "Or I can have Magnus put a spell on him. Turn him into a toad or something." {He said in added humor. Knowing jokes weren't really Alec's thing, which made his offer that much sweeter since he was only trying now as a means of trying to cheer me up} I'll let you know. {I said with a mirrored response of humor as we reached the room to train. After retrieving our weapons of choice, we went into the training ring and started sparring. Within a few minutes of training, I was already filling him in on the fight I had with Simon, which ultimately led to our break up. I knew my brother well enough to know he was probably relieved to hear Simon and I broke up, but out of concern that he'd hurt me, he'd never say those words aloud. Instead he listened intently and in support as we continued to spar with our weapons in the ring. As we did so, I continued to vent to him about my failed relationship. Serves me right for being naive enough to think this relationship with Simon would have ever worked out}

Take care, Simon. {I said with a slight nod as I turned to walk away. Regret. I regretted going with Clary to see Simon a few days back. In fact, I wish I just let him go when he left a year ago, and that I moved on with my life without him. Ever since curiosity got the best of me, only to learn that Simon still had the sight, in spite of his memory wipe, it's been nothing but one fight or disagreement with each other since. A whole year had gone by without Simon, and although I was angry and hurt by his choice to choose to leave me in order to protect Clary, at least I was left with my memories of the love the two of us shared with one another. In reality though, I returned to a selfish, stubborn, and self-centered side of Simon that I never saw back when we were together. Simon reiterated that he had changed... That he wasn't a guy who was going to be pushed around, which I could certainly appreciate and respect, but that's not what this new side of him was. It wasn't confidence it was unkindness and selfishness now that I saw in him. Not only was Simon not sorry for walking away from me, and had admitted, on more than one occasion that he would always protect Clary, which obviously stung, but when I told him the risk that would come to my family if Simon was seen at the Institute, he didn't care. It was his way or no way. I didn't want to keep us a secret. I had already told him I would be seen with him... That would could be together and go on dates. The one exception I was asking for was for him to follow the laws of the Shadowworld by staying away from The Institute. One thing. That's all I was asking for, but no, Simon refused to accept that. He didn't care about the risk or danger that would come to Alec, Jace, Clary, or myself if he was seen at the Institute against the Clave's wishes. It was his way or no way at all. In the end, his response told me everything that I needed to know. Simon wasn't the guy that I had fallen in love with. He had changed into someone I didn't even recognize anymore, so here I was walking away... Letting Simon go for a second time now, which broke my heart, but whatever choice did I have? I silently considered as I made my way back to the Institute then went straight to my bedroom quarters for the duration of the night. Sure, I knew I'd need to face Alec, Clary, and the others tomorrow, but for now, I just needed some time alone to think, heal, and hopefully figure out a way to move on with my life}

I know, and the fact that so many rules were broken in the past is why the Clave is coming down so hard on Alec and my family now. That's what I'm trying to say. Things have changes at the Institute, Simon. The thing is, Clary may not care about endangering all of us, Alec especially, but unlike her, I will protect the ones that I love. {In spite of Simon claiming he understood, he was still arguing with me about it, which told me he clearly didn't understand. If he did care or understood where I was coming from in trying to protect my family, then he'd let this go. Especially when I had made it clear to him that the /one/ place he wasn't allowed to be was the institute. We could still go on dates and be seen in public. I had no plans of hiding him or our relationship. The institute was off limits though since the Clave closely guarded and monitored our every move there. I realized Simon wasn't willing to bend, even on that one exception, so it was like we were hitting a wall. I loved Simon but I didn't want to fight with him anymore} I think you're right... Too much has changed. I think it's best if we just take some space between us. {I leaned in to press a chaste kiss to his cheek before slowly retracting} All the best on your tour... Be safe and I'll miss you. {I said quietly before I turned to walk away. Hoping Simon wouldn't argue with me anymore, and we could just part ways with my last words to him being positive and with love}

Hide you from the shadow world? No. From The Clave, yes. There's a big difference. The way I see it, The Clave focuses on every move we make at the Institute, which is why that's literally the only place I've said I don't want you to be. That's not just about you though, Simon. It's a rule The Clave said and has made sure we follow and enforce. Nobody who isn't a shadow hunter is allowed at the Institute. {My shoulders rolling into a slight shrug. Of course this was as a result of what happened when Clary broke too many laws, angered the Clave, and Simon took the fall for her, in the end. From that point on, the Clave decided that the Institute was out of control, and too many people knew our secrets, so they put a stop to all of that} I am well aware that you can take care of yourself, Simon. You made that crystal clear to me back when you agreed to the memory wipe without so much as talking to me about it first. In fact, in all the times you acted impulsively and got yourself in a situation with the underworld, you always found a way to get yourself out of it, too. Making it clear to me that you didn't need nor want my help. Trust me, I'm well aware of where you stand on that. Still, I don't support your reckless decision to stand up to the Clave. You might be willing to put your life on the line just to prove something to them, but I'm not going to put my family at risk simply so you can ensure everyone knows you won't be pushed around and don't need people to protect you. {I was clearly annoyed with how much of an ass Simon was being now. The fact that it was his way or no way, and he didn't care who could get hurt, or worse, as a result of him just wanting to arrogantly prove a point} You know what, Simon, maybe too much has happened and we've both just changed so much that we aren't going to work out as a couple anymore. The way I see it, since we found each other again, all we've done is argued, and we can't seem to agree on anything. {Exhaling quietly in sadness. I always thought if Simon and I found our way back to each other again, that things would just fall perfectly into place for us. Oh how wrong I was} I don't want to fight with you anymore, so maybe it would just be best if we go our separate ways. You focus on your band, your music, and what makes you happy, and I'll go back to just doing my job as a shadow hunter. {Did I want it to end like this? No, but given that Simon wasn't willing to bend at all, and he seemed hellbent on standing up to the Clave, it felt like this was our only option, at the moment. The only way I could protect Simon and my family both}

{I was angry at this point. Simon was being stubborn and unreasonable. He kept saying I was the one who wasn't willing to bend or to compromise, but in all actuality, it was him. It was his way /completely/ or no way. I wasn't asking him to stay a secret. I wasn't trying to hide, nor was I implying that. We could be a couple. A real couple. We could go on dates and be together. Literally my /only/ condition was that Simon couldn't come to the Institute. That wasn't about protecting him, but rather as a means of protecting, Alec, Jace, and Clary. Alec was running the institute now, so if the Clave caught wind that he allowed a mundane to be privy to our secret, and worse, entered the institute, Alec would practically have the book thrown at him. As would Jace and Clary since they would undeniably and irrevocably protect and try to cover for Alec. The Clave already despised our family, so they were just looking for a reason, big or small, to put an end to my family... Myself included. Of course Simon couldn't seem to understand any of that though. All he cared about was childishly making a statement and standing up to the Clave. If he wanted to stupidly stand up to the Clave just to prove he's not a coward, or "has balls," as he idiotically put it, then that was on him, but I sure as hell wasn't going to put Alec, Jace, or Clary in danger just so Simon can feel like a man} Is that what all of this is about? You wanting to feel like a man? {My head shaking as my arms crossed in front of me. I didn't give him the chance to respond before I continued} I am not looking to protect you, Simon. Trust me, you've made it crystal clear by now that you can take care of yourself and you don't need me or anyone else to do it. You have told me countless times that you don't want my help, and that's fine. I get it, you're a big boy so you can take care of yourself. Fine. Great. I'm happy for you, but contrary to what you seem to think, this isn't about you, Simon. The Clave wants to end my family. They want them executed. They are looking for any reason to do so. Meaning, if they find out Alec let a mundane into the Institute, and worse, made them aware of the shadow world, they will probably petition to have Alec not only removed from his position, but more than likely will strip him of his runes, and likely put him on trial to be executed. So sure, call me selfish all you want to, but if it comes down to you trying to prove yourself as a man with balls, or me protecting my brother from severe punishment, I'm going to protect my brother. I already told you I don't want to keep us a secret. I made it clear that we can go on dates together, that we can spend time together, and even see each other's families, but my /one/ condition is that you can't come to the Institute. The way I see it, I'm already proving my love for you, and the fact that I am willing to risk my own safety by being a clear and out in the open couple, when I know it's against Clave laws. I love you though, so it's worth the risk I'm taking, but it's you who wants it fully your way. You are the one who isn't willing to bend at all. You are the one acting like a spoiled, adolescent child in all of this simply because I said you can be anywhere you want with me, except the Institute. I put /one/ exception out there, because it's against the laws of the shadow world, and I'm the selfish one. Fine, Simon. If that's the way you want to see it, then that's your choice. I'm done arguing with you about it. {Throwing my hands up in exasperation while shaking my head} To be a clear, I never said you were a wimp or that you're fragile. It was you who made that claim about yourself. But since you know everything, and I'm apparently just selfish, you're free to believe what you want. I'm done though. {I aired out before turning with intentions to leave. To think, I was so happy and relieved to have a second chance with Simon, and now, I was sorry he remembered me at all, because it's like I don't know him anymore. He's become someone I don't even recognize}
@geekwithfangs

{At this moment Simon was being stubborn and unreasonable. I wasn't asking him to be invisible, nor was I keeping him a secret... With /one/ exception: the Institute. It was against the laws of The Clave for the shadow world to be associated with the mundane world. With the exception of protecting them. Relationships with them, though, were off limits and forbidden. It was the sort of thing that would result in a severe punishment. One that included anything from being stripped of our runes, to memory wipes, and even death, should they consider it severe enough. Given the history where Simon already had his memories wiped by The Clave, I had a feeling if they found out I was in a relationship with him again, they would hand out the severest of punishments to me, as a result. I could literally be put to death for this relationship, and all Simon cared about was not hiding. My head shook at the thought of it as I felt my temper and patience brimming} It's your way or no way, isn't it, Simon? All you care about is proving a point to The Clave. Clearly you don't care about the fact that it could result in me being put to death, Alec, Jace, or even Clary too. I'm glad you aren't afraid of The Clave, but I am, Simon. I want to protect you, me, and my family from them, so excuse me if I'm not in the mood to fight them. {I shifted out of his hold and onto his feet. Really angry at this moment because clearly there was no reasoning or room for compromise with Simon. He was determined to prove his point, and I was done arguing with him} You can't be part of the shadow world, Simon. It's as simple as that, and seeing as you aren't willing to bend on that fact, I don't think this is going to work. It's like you're determined to get us all killed, and I'm not willing to take that risk. If that makes me a horrible person, then so be it. {I said with a slight shake of my head as I pressed a brief, tender kiss to his cheek, before turned to leave} Goodbye, Simon. {I said as a lump filled my throat. Clearly I had been naive to think Simon and I could find a way to make this work out between us. I thought to myself as I shifted into a sprint away from here. Just wanting and needing to be alone for now}
@geekwithfangs

{Why was Simon twisting my words? Why was he taking something that was simply meant to be a means of protecting him and my family, and turning it in to a "dirty little secret," as he put it? I wasn't asking him to hide us from our loved ones, or really anyone in the mundane world. I would be seen with him. I just didn't think he should come to the Institution, out of risk of The Clave finding out. I don't think that was a big ask} I'm not wanting to keep you or us a secret, Simon. That's not what I'm saying. You want our family and friends to know about us, that's perfectly fine with me. We can go on dates and be seen in the mundane world. I'm not looking or wanting to hide you or our relationship. All I'm saying is that I don't think it's a good idea for you to be at the Institute. Word will no doubt get back to The Clave if anyone sees you. Besides, it's forbidden for mundanes to even be inside the Institute, so if you're caught in there, Alec, Clary, Jace, and I will face the consequences of that. So yes, Simon, I do understand where you're coming from, which is why I'm not saying I want us to be a secret. I don't, nor am I asking for that. I am simply trying to protect my family and I by saying we can go and do whatever you want while we're dating. Just as long as it doesn't lead us back to the Institute. {Hoping Simon would understand because I wasn't hiding him or us. The only small condition I am making is that he couldn't come to the Institute since that was against the Clave laws} Cooking together sounds fun. As long as you're willing to take the risk of me potentially burning down your apartment, then I'm good with giving it a shot. {I chuckles softly as I remained contentedly cuddled up in his arms} I'm so glad we found our way back to one another, Simon. I missed you... I missed us.

{My lips pursed slightly in thought as I heard Simon’s plea for me to not keep him a secret. As much as I wanted to agree to his request now, I didn’t know if I could. I mean, this wasn’t one of those secrets you keep when you’re ashamed of something. That couldn’t be further from the truth, because I wasn’t ashamed by my love for Simon. Not at all, in fact. No, the only reason I was keeping it a secret was for Simon’s safety. I knew if the Clave found out about my relationship with Simon, they wouldn’t stop at anything to put an end to it. Still, I knew how stubborn Simon could be; especially once he made his mind up about something. Meaning, if I tried explaining the risk factor to him all over again, he still wouldn’t change his mind on it. The thing was though, it wasn’t just Simon in danger, should the Clave find out about our rekindled relationship. All of us would be at risk. Apparently there was no convincing Simon of this, though, because even though I had already explained this, he was still trying to talk me out of keeping us a secret} In other words, you’re not going to be content with only keeping the reality of our relationship within our small circle of trustworthy friends and family members, right? The Clave finding out about your memories returning or not isn’t the only issue... It’s the fact that, according to the Clave, I would be endangering the secret of our world by having a relationship with a mundane. Our laws state that we are not to have any kind of contact with mundanes. My point being, if the Clave finds out about us, we’re all in danger, Simon, and more than that, they will do whatever was necessary to ensure we end our relationship and stay away from each other, once and for all. {I quietly explained as my fingers gently trailed up and down his arms as they remained wrapped around my frame} Simon, I don’t want to keep us a secret from those whom we can trust. Alec, Jace, Clary, Magnus, and even your mom and sister, if you want them to know. I just don’t want anyone outside of those we can trust to find out about us, because of the risk that would follow. {Hoping Simon understood my reasoning with that, yet at the same point, I had a feeling his stubbornness would still push him to fight me on it} Hey, in my defense, you were the first person I had ever cooked for. With practice, I’m sure I could improve. {I chuckled softly. Even as I said it though, I knew the odds of that happening weren’t all that likely} Really? You know, cooking together actually sounds fun. We’d need to do so at your apartment though, because I’m banned from using the stove at the Institute. {I aired out while grinning sheepishly; all the while my shoulders rolling into a casual shrug}
@geekwithfangs
Well, I don’t recall a time that you’ve managed to get yourself on my bad side yet, so it seems the odds of that happening are unlikely, and therefore, in your favor. {I aired out in a teasing tone; all the while a soft, playful grin laced across my lips. It felt refreshing to be with Simon again. Even more so upon learning that his memories of me and our relationship had returned too. My only disappointment in all of this was a year had gone by since Simon and I were last together like this. We lost a whole year… I’m just relieved that we are back together with one another now. In fact, now that we found our way back to one another, I had no intentions of losing Simon again; even if that means literally whipping Clary into shape, if she opts to break another rule that could take Simon from me. No, it was time for Clary to begin answering for her own mistakes, because so far, the only people who felt the affects and costs from her mistakes were the rest of us. I silently considered as Simon and I made our way toward the destination he had in mind} It’s okay. I assure you, you’re forgiven. I mean, in spite of how perfect and sweet you are, I don’t expect you to remember every outfit I ever wore when you and I were together. {I added with a lingering grin} All that matters is that you remember us. {I genuinely pointed out as we continued the familiar walk toward the park; assuming that’s where Simon was guiding us} You’re not a geek, Simon. A bit of a dork, yes, but an incredibly cute and charming dork… One that I am head over heels in love with. {I said with a doting grin as I leaned in closer to Simon while we walked} All that matters is that fate brought us back together once more. Just so you know, I have no intentions of losing you again though; no matter what, you’re stuck with me, Simon Lewis. {Although a hint of playfulness was in my voice, I did mean every word of that. {In Simon’s arms... It was the place that I felt the highest sense of happiness, contentment, and pure bliss. Simon and I had taken years to get to the point of realizing we were in love with each other, and just like that, in what felt like a split second decision of impulse, he had his memories wiped, in order to protect Clary from facing the consequences of her latest mistake. One moment I was planning a future with the man I love, and in the next, he was gone and out of my life. A whole year had passed, but fortunately fate, or whatever you wanted to call it, brought Simon and I back together. After the crush and heartbreak I experienced after losing him this last time, I had no plans of losing him again. I didn’t care what trouble Clary got herself involved in going forward... She and Jace could figure out how to help her, but I refused to let Simon and I be ripped apart again, at the hand and effort of protecting Clary from herself. I silently considered as I contentedly nestled against him; feeling happier tonight than I had at all over the last year} A secret? No. {I quickly responded. I didn’t want Simon to think I was planning to hide him. My love for Simon wasn’t something I was ashamed of, or wanting to hide from others. Protect him, at all costs, yes, but I wouldn’t keep him a secret} Don’t get me wrong, the longer we can keep the Clave in the dark about your memories being in tact, the better, but I have no intentions of hiding you, or us, Simon. I love you... We lost a year together... I don’t want to waste anymore time to make more memories with you. {I said with a smile as I felt his lips press to my own; leaning in gently as I returned his kiss. Another smile filled my lips though when the kiss broke and I heard Simon air out the memory of one of the first times he and I had met} You remember that? {Relief filling my lips in realizing even more of Simon’s memories of us were returning} Do you remember the first time I tried to cook for you? {I aired out through a soft chuckle as I recalled how horrible that probably tasted} That was a disaster... Definitely not my finest moment, but I think I’ve improved with the cooking thing, over the years. {Don’t get me wrong, I was no chef, in the making, but at least I could cook something basic to feed Simon that won’t end up killing him or poisoning him, as a result, so that’s definitely progress}

It’s really hard to say... {Certain there must be some kind of scientific or supernatural explanation as to why the memory wipe didn’t work on Simon, but honestly, I didn’t care enough to get those answers. I was just grateful to have him back here with me} You know, you had the sight early on, which few mundanes have, so maybe you were always meant to be part of our world. Maybe your connection to our world is stronger than anything The Clave could do to keep you out of it. {I said through a smile as I remained in Simon’s hold. Content just being here in his arms now.. A place I had longed to be every day during our year apart} Either way, whatever The Clave has to say about it, providing they even find out, we will figure it out. Like I said, we’re in this together. {I reassuringly added as I remained nestled in Simon’s hold. He picked the perfect night for this} Well, while we’re making confessions... {I started to say with a smile before immediately continuing} I never thought I would find true love. Before you, it was all flings and fleeting passion. I never thought someone like you could love someone like me. {I aired out with a lingering smile as I tilted my head upward to look at Simon with a doting look. Hoping to convey in my eyes and smile how much I love him}
