Discuss who and what positively influenced your SYCEP experience.
To discuss about who and what positively influenced my SYCEP experience, I would say all the new friends I met and my supervisor, also the dancers at KYL/D, and all the things I faced influenced my SYCEP experience. It was my first time go to work in America. My English skill is not good so I didn't talk a lot to other people there but I still got some good friends such as Tinghua, Marianna, Jieying, Bonnie,... When I was working, Marianna helped me a lot and I got some experience from her. Beside, I learned a lot of things from the Professional Development Seminar. I want to say thank you to all the staffs of SYCEP. I thought 6 weeks was long but I feel time passes so fast now. It was a memorable summer for me.

Discuss in at least four paragraphs on how you will use your worksite experience to pursue your future academic, professional, and personal endeavors.
To pursue my future academic, professional, and personal endeavors by using my worksite experience, I should see the connection between them or what experience that I got when I was working at my worksite. Honestly, I still didn't have a specific plan for my future, I'm just doing anything that I enjoy to do for now... I like anything about Arts and that's why I chose to be an intern at CHI Movement Arts Center. I can't deny that being there brings me a lot of opportunities and experience for my life...
Last week, I got a chance to join in a Dance Festival names Koresh Dance at Philadelphia Theater Company, where KYL/D had a performance. It was the first time I join in a Dance Festival like that. There were a lot of people who are interested in Arts, especially Dance. However, I met a writer and talk with her about her experience. I also told her that I wished to become a writer when I was in Vietnam and then it's no longer available for me when I came to America because my English is not good enough. She told me I can still practice my Vietnamese and be a writer in Vietnamese. It was good to talk with her but I really forgot her name after we talked a lot... :'(
Also, it was a busy week for KYL/D studio because they had a lot of events this August. To get ready for the Internationale Tanzmesse in Germany, they had a lot of rehearsals for Mandala at the studio. In one of the rehearsals, I met a sculptor teacher. She came there to teach the dancers how to use the paper as fabric for the Mandala dance. At that time, I didn't know about her until yesterday... When I showed Jessica - my supervisor the mask which I made from 3D class I took at Tyler Art School, she mentioned about that teacher again. That teacher is the person who made the masks for their dance projects before. Jessica told me if we have a chance, we can work together and I can earn more experience.
Being an intern for KYL/D is a good chance for me to work and explore more about different kinds of Arts. Not to mention, I tried to take a dance class at KYL/D, I felt very relaxing with it. Beside, I'm working with Marianna - another intern and I also learn some college life's experience when she was talking with Brian - one of the dancer of KYL/D. In fact, I don't have any specific plan yet but I believe the internship experience will contribute to my future career goals anyway.

Dream job
"Describe your dream job and why. Provide a minimum of four paragraphs in your response."
For this blog, I was thinking a lot. What is my dream job and why? In fact, at each period of time in my life, I had different dream job, different thing that I wanted to do…
When I was in primary school, I wished I can become a fashion designer. I like to design the clothes and wear my design. At that time, I knew a tailor, whenever I design something, I would show her and she made it for me. All the clothes I wore when I was a kid are from my design. However, I couldn’t continue that for some reasons…
When I was in secondary school, I wished I can be a famous director. Also, I was interesting in writing because I entered the literature specialization at Tien Giang High School for Gifted Students. Not to mention, I won a lot of awards about creative writing before in Vietnam. I had some fiction stories which I post on the internet and got a lot of readers and new friends through that. However, when I came to America, my writing skill couldn’t show, it’s stuck because of language. I felt regret why I didn’t focus on English when I was in Vietnam.
For several times, I was also thinking about foreign affair because I like to explore the new culture, especially Asian culture such as Korea culture, Chinese culture, Japanese culture,…
Until now, I still try to figure out which is my dream job. I like all kind of job that I listed above. I think all of them relate to Arts somehow. The reason why is I enjoy doing anything with Art or Creative.

3rd week...
Discuss how you can develop your StrengthsQuest strengths, within and outside your work site. Your response should contain a minimum of 4 paragraphs.
To talk about how I can develop my StrengthsQuest strengths within and outside my work site, I would let you know my StrengthsQuest strengths. My "top five" are: competition, ideation, strategic, futuristic and individualization.
I believe the projects that my work site gave me can help me develop ideation, strategic and futuristic. In particular, the first project I did for my work site was researching the information about the potential partners. The information include: location of institute, projects of institution, other partners, demographic reach, funders, leaders in programming, long and short term goals, points of convergence between KYL/D and institution. To find the points of convergence between KYL/D and institution, I think my strengths (strategic and futuristic) were used. I also got a new project this week, it's poster design on Photoshop and I think when I used Photoshop, ideation was used to help me design how everything will be on the poster.
"Competition is rooted in comparison. When you look at the world, you are instinctively aware of other people's performance..." I think I saw myself in what they describe about Competition. Beside, my Individualization theme leads me to be intrigued by the unique qualities of each person. I usually observe each person's style, each person's motivation, how each thinks, and how each builds relationships. That's why I pick my friends just the right birthday gift.
In fact, those themes above are not all of my strengths and how I develop them or my personality. That's just give you an overview on my "top five" strengths and I believe that I should still improve myself and develop my strengths day by day.

2nd week with KYL/D
Talk about how you keep yourself accountable especially when you are continuing to adapt to your work site. Your response should be at least 4 paragraphs in length.
It was a comfortable start last week. This week, Mariana and I keep working on the projects to finish them. They are Survey of Potential Partners, Survey of Young Adults interest in KYL/D and Literature review book for children about Dance, Health, Body and mind.
Continuing to adapt to my work site, I should keep myself accountable. It means I try my best to work on the projects that Jessica - my supervisor gave us. Also, I can help or work on the other project when I finished the old projects. As an illustration, Mariana and I started work on Funders' Information after finishing the projects from last week.
Beside, keeping myself accountable mean I should come on time. As I mentioned from last week, one of my challenge is the distance from my house to my worksite. However, this week I started the Summer program at Temple in the morning so the distance now is from Temple to my work site. Because of this, I missed one day of work on Monday, I contacted Jessica and she understood for me. So, keeping the contact with the supervisor is important and can keep accountable.
Moreover, to talk about continuing adapt to my work site, I can talk about the atmosphere at my work site. Jessica and Ken are very nice and easy to talk to. Mariana is also very friendly and help me a lot. I feel that I'm lucky to have KYL/D as my worksite with Mariana.

First week of work
Describe the challenges, obstacles, and rewards of beginning work as a new employee of your work-site. How important is adaptability in transitioning into your work-site? Your response should be at least 4 paragraphs in length.
To talk about the challenges, obstacles, and rewards of beginning work as a new employee of my work-site, I would introduce a little bit about my work-site. I’m an intern at CHI Movement Arts Center (KUN-YANG LIN/DANCERS), which is one of the country’s foremost contemporary Asian-American dance companies.
My job is working on the computer for researching the information of some organizations and companies are the potential partners for my work-site. It’s a little challenge because my English is not fluent and I should read a lot of information from the website. So, I always open a tab of google translate next to the website to use when I don’t know the words. Also, when I first came to the seminar, I felt little shy because I didn’t know anyone there and my English is not good as them. Beside, CHI Movement Arts Center is located at 1316 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147. It takes me about one and half hours from my house to get there.
However, my supervisor and another intern are so nice. If I don’t know something I can ask them for help. I think the most challenge for me is the distance and time but the problem is solved by working on my spare time. Not to mention, I work for the dance studio so I can listen to the music they open in the studio while working. It’s also an opportunity for me to meet the dancers in CHI Movement Arts Center. They are good-looking and talented.
Many of the challenges facing organizations today are considered adaptive challenges, systemic challenges with no clear solutions. They involve creating new processes, systems, or skills, whereas a technical challenge requires a redistribution of resources and a well-defined plan of action. Adaptable people enjoy the challenge of figuratively working with the other hand, working on foreign turf. They accept change, hone strategies for dealing with the unknown, and shift their behavior to accommodate new situations and challenges.
In my opinion, everything has both positive and negative side. Therefore, if I accept the negative side and think about positive side of my work and adapt to my work, I will get a better result. I think I got an amazing work-site.
