A little story that happened about 10/11 years ago. This is going to consist about my dogs life and how we came to get her. So I use to be terrified of dogs, not just the kind of terrified you get where you are scared to touch one, no like if a dog was near me I would bust out crying and basically climb whoever was next to me. Have no idea why just was. Both my parents were dog people and had one as they grew up. One day in summer my cousins come over to my house with a flyer they got off the bulletin board at the post office and it had boxer puppies for sale like 3 roads down from my house. They wanted my mom and me to go with them (why them or my mother thought that was a good idea idk). So we pile up in the car, get to the house, owner takes us to back yard BAM 2 full grown boxers, yep instant tears and climbed my mom like a tree. The owner put them in a kennel and brought the puppies out, there were 2. My mom made me get down and stop crying. The pups were cute and very small and of course one of these little dogs had to take a liking to me (probably the only dog I never cried around). My older cousin was getting the other puppy and someone convinced me to beg my mom to get the pup would liked me by things like ohh they can always be together and blah blah. So I cried a little more, called my dad (who said no), cried a little more to my mom and she finally gave in. So we bought Daisy (w/o my dad knowing), brought both the pups back to my house and got lil daisy settled in. Even though my dad was not happy person for about a week we still have her til this very day and luckily she was the runt and never got as big as her parents!

Todays generation (teenagers, young adults, kids) whatever you want to classify them as are all caught up in technology. Yes I admit I enjoy social media and having it but I do not let it consume my life. Kids now a days are getting i-phones and all these fancy electronics at like 7 years old. What the hell does a 7 year old need phone for. Kids should be outside running around, climbing trees, probably doing dangerous stuff that might leave them with a broken arm; not searching the web trying to figure out which Kardashian sister ha a bigger ass or doing makeup to where there face looks like a 20 year old. I do not understand why everyone wants to be so caught up in technology instead of doing things like outside or at least something other than social media, like read a book. When I was younger that's all me and my family/friends did was play outside and make up games of some sort, that is what everyone my age did. We literally never wanted to go inside unless it was to eat because all that was inside was soap operas or someone getting in trouble. I personally think more kids should be outside enjoy nature more than just the times they get recess or whatever it is called now, and high school does not even get that much. With all the things kids are getting at such a young age in a couple years parents are probably going to be buying there 12 year old a brand new car and just have them wait 4 years to actually drive. All these middle school children try to grow up to fast when once they get older they will realize it was much simpler being a kid.

This is one of the most exciting times of the year for a lot of people, other than Christmas of course. It is the time where seniors are about to graduate, whether it be from high school or college, other students are excited about school being out for summer, and some enjoy it because the weather begins to get warmer and it is nicer outside. Some people may not like this time of the year but majority of folks that I know or talk to seem to enjoy it because its the end of school for a while. One down fall about this time is a ton of stress, especially with college kids and maybe high school depending on how difficult your high school classes are. Yeah summer or graduation is right around the corner but leading up to that means finals and all the professors cramming things in at the end of the semester, not just one professor, like all of them. This tended to happen around Christmas as well. You can just look at people and tell they are stressed or worried, whether that be about school yeah I have no clue but sometimes it is. From the seniors that I have talked to the do not really give a rats ass about school anymore, they are out in about a month and have put in all there hard work the past 4 years and the first half of the semester so they know they will pass. All they are really trying to do is wait it all out. For the freshman and sophomores, stress. Sometimes you can run into a person who is not stressed about anything at all, like life is just a breeze for them, I give those people props because they must really have their life together, unlike many other students.

Sports. Basketball to be more exact. The championship game was the other night with the lovely North Carolina Tar Heels playing against Gonzaga. Yes, I am a Tar Heels fan, born and raised. What really made me love this game was that North Carolina won yeah but it made me even happier that all the Duke fans, Kentucky fans, and all the nay sayers were pissed. Someone could have asked me 3 months before March Madness started who I thought would win and I would tell them the North Carolina Tar Heels. North Carolina is a consistent team and I feel like that definitely helped them out in this competition. Basketball brackets are always a competition in my family to see who will win. Most everyone has played the sport sometime in their life, whether it be high school/travel ball/whatever, and we all have a team. If someone jumps on a band wagon better believe they will get blessed out. One thing about us being so competitive with it is when our (my) team wins I get to rub in it their faces. Family love. Its pretty much a year round thing for us which is fun at sometimes and very irritating at others. Some members of the fam were more pissed than others because either they were mad that North Carolina beat there team in the bracket or because they just do not like Tar Heels either way I do not care, I was one happy person. They will have more victories and probably losses but all in all they are a good team and it was proven the other night by them winning the championship, there may have been some flaws and some may blame the refs but Tar Heels still won and there is no taking it back now. They will come out back on top again!

One thing that I have figured out for myself specifically is that it is more fun to work 5k’s rather than run in them. This past weekend my sorority sisters and I held a 5k on our campus to help raise money for Autism Speaks (which is our philanthropy aka organization we help with). Some sisters were stationed at spots along the course to help runners with direction because this was held at night as a glow run, which I found very fun and different. And others were stuck doing other things like face paint or food. I figured out it is more fun to work the 5ks rather than run them because 1. very hard to run them since not in shape haha 2. it allows to be able to interact with the runners. With this run specifically we had paint, glow sticks, bounce houses, and many other things; this run is mainly for kids and families to enjoy and the little kids seemed to. As much fun as the families and children had the sisters had just as much fun. We all talked about how it reminded us of our high school football or basketball games where everyone painted up and cheered all night long, even though some of us are farther away from high school years than others its always fun to have those nights back because in college you don't get those games every Friday night these days.

Last time I was on here I kinda talked about the college life and some things to in the area I'm in. One thing that me and my friends and many other people like to do is go on hikes or just mainly explore. Recently me and one of my friends went to Laurel Falls. The drive to Laurel Falls was a drive to remember that's for sure. It always seems to be an adventure when you get lost trying to get to wherever you are going, to add onto that almost hit a family of deer, path got crossed by a black cat (which my superstitious friend did not like one bit) and almost had a collision going up a tiny road. Once we got to where we were suppose to be we met a very interesting person that was on the same trail. He had all sorts of backpacking gear with him and then we found out he was walking the Appalachian trail! Which is a very fascinating while being very time consuming. The fella was very nice and kinda lost just like we were but we all eventually got on the right track. If yall know or not but Laurel Falls has waterfalls along its trail and they are very fascinating. To get to the waterfall ya have to walk down these rocks (seems like there is at least 80 of them) but it was worth it for the view. Once we got to the waterfall, we tried to find a way to the top because sometimes that is possible, yeah we didn't find anything. We come back down and this couple is trying to cross one side to the other while walking real close to the waterfall. Have no idea why, what they were thinking, but have to give the couple props because I would have not had the balls to cross the rushing water. Once taking in the view, taking a few pictures we went back and has to walk back up the stairs (which were a pain in the ass) we complained all the way up and ran into these other people who completely understood because they had been there before. Walking back the trail seemed much prettier to look at and just take in. Minus all the complaining we did walking up those rock steps our adventure to Laurel Falls was fascinating!

Writing a blog or having a tumblr is something that I have never really thought that I would do in my lifetime, but there is a time for everything I guess. Since this is something I haven’t ever thought about I don't know what to talk about. Ill just stick with life and my first year attending East Tennessee State University. Moving away from my home town was huge step in life that I was ready for but a little worried about at the same time. I came up here with many friends from back home thinking we would all last the full 4 years, stay real close, and all that stuff most freshman come into college thinking. Well yeah that didn't happen, majority of them got home sick and went back to live at home. After they left I was mainly forced to go outside of my comfort zone. Ended up making tons of new friends, joining a sorority, and actually doing better in classes (which was definitely needed.) College is all fun an games sometimes but it is also hella stressful many other times. One of the best things about coming up to East Tennessee State has probably been seeing and doing all the different things Johnson City has to offer and making best friends that will probably be my best friends throughout life. Sometimes its hard to be away from home for long periods of time, especially when ya miss your pets from back home, or missing some home cooked meals, but everything is manageable. All in all its been a great time so far being on my own away from home, enjoying the college life, trying to stay responsible. This is a time everyone needs in their life!
