ultimately the best way to prevent abuse is to organize society in such a way that everyone's needs are met wothout having to rely on a parent or employer or boyfriend or any one individual. obviously wont stop, like, manipulation or so on, but the ability to dangle basic needs over someone's head is one of the most powerful and consistant tools of abuse out there. if someone is able to just leave, and know that they will have access to food and shelter and clean water and education, that will enable so, so mamy victims of abuse to do just that.

this is like, super summarized obv... and probably missing a lot of stuff bc this is such a deep issue with sooo many factors.

first and foremost, the porn industry is directly causing many many many women to be raped, many of whom it happens regularly to.

many many female people involved in porn are at best coerced due to societal influence and at worst trafficked

as a side effect of this, many women involved in the industry end up turning to drugs to cope and now have to deal with addiction

the percentage and popularity of violent porn in particular has been on the rise, and we know from other studies that enjoying violent porn is directly correlated with rape apologism as well as performing sexually violent acts.

we also know that regular porn use tends to make people look for more and more extreme content over time, and in some escalates them into overt bestiality, pedophilia, etc. when that was not an "interest" they had before

obviously we know the porn industry is controlled by men and that overwhelmingly the content is made for and enjoyed by them

also obvious is that the vast majority of porn is extremely misogynistic in nature and normalizes degrading acts being done to women etc

there is a biiig push to normalize porn use right now and we can see how it being so prevalent in our culture is having an effect on grown women and even children. but its becoming common to casually say women should get an onlyfans, and its especially scary how there are some girls being essentially groomed into wanting to start an onlyfans or w/e as soon as they turn 18 etc

you can directly see how this normalization is affecting things by the ever-increasing expectations and awful behavior by boys and men to women and girls sexually. men expect you to be okay with anal, they want to be able to choke you, to hit you. really they just want to abuse you. they are sadistic and this sadism is becoming more and more common. every woman i know at least knows someone else who had some man do something like this to them without even asking bc the men just ASSUME that they will be okay with it and want it etc

there are endless accounts of how the earlier and earlier use of porn by boys growing up is leaking out into the classroom and affecting their behavior, particularly in how they treat their female peers

its nice knowing that this was connected to the other anons bc if it was a random person i would have had to cite 5 million things and it would have been annoying to go find it all lol
