So. I quit my job of 11 years yesterday. Which has been at least 4 years overdue. And I gave myself a nice 2 week vacation before starting the new position, so I'm hoping to dust off some of the cobwebs and get back to doing what I loved, here.

( Not gone, just depressed and exhausted in more ways than one. Desperately trying to find a new job or figure out how to go freelance. Gonna try to move forward with remaking the blog and moving Tess. )

( Well, unfortunately, I didn't manage to finish the signs in time, but all that's left is a little soldering to connect the IR sensors to the microcontrollers. But here's how they'll look when they're done. )

( Also, caught a nasty cold right before Xmas and still fighting it off. Can't catch a break. )

( got caught up making gifts for my friends and nephews for xmas. soldering is intimidating, and making usb cables is a little more complicated than it looks, but it is satisfying. once the present projects are finished, I will be getting back to working on Tess' new blog. here are some progress pics of my crafting. )

a few reminders because i’m tired and angry

fandom is a hobby, not a form of activism

adult women aren’t inherently creepy for being in fandom and having hobbies apart from raising babies and doing taxes

the vast majority of people pushing back against the worrying trend of instigating harassment over fictional characters and relationships aren’t incest supporters or pedophiles, actually

liking a m/f ship doesn’t make someone a dirty heterosexual invading your space

preferring gay ships doesn’t make you ‘’woke’’ and good

no one owes you a disclaimer that they are a good person who recognizes that their favorite fictional villain’s actions are evil and that they don’t condone those actions irl

liking a fictional villain is in no way comparable to advocating abuse/murder/genocide/etc and you’re a fucking idiot if you believe that

just because a woman is attracted to a fictional villain doesn’t mean she’s promoting toxic relationships or going to end up in a toxic relationship. assuming women can’t tell fiction and reality apart stinks of internalized misogyny 

some rando’s a/b/o fanfics have none of the level of influence that popular tv shows and movies spreading propaganda have

no one owes you a detailed description of their traumas and mental health problems

abusive relationships are not the same as enemies to lovers ships

y’all need to chill the fuck out over people, relationships, actions and events that don’t actually exist and learn how to enjoy and discuss them like normal people

This is not a drill. Our new Community Guidelines are here. 

We recently introduced Community Labels to give everyone more control over their dashboard experience. With this new feature, you can adjust your feed to your preferred comfort level by setting the types of content you want to see. It was our first step toward a more open Tumblr. 

Today, we’re taking the next step: We now welcome a broader range of expression, creativity, and art on Tumblr, including content depicting the human form (yes, that includes the naked human form).

So, even if your creations contain nudity, mature subject matter, or sexual themes, you can now share them on Tumblr using the appropriate Community Label so that everyone remains in control of the types of content they see on their dash. 

We have updated our Community Guidelines to reflect these changes; the rest of our content policies remain the same: We still don’t allow hate, spam, violent threats, or anything illegal, and visual depictions of sexually explicit acts remain off-limits on Tumblr (if you want to know more about that, our CEO Matt recently explained why it’s not feasible for us to safely and successfully support porn communities at this time). If you come across these types of content, please continue to report them to us.

Similarly, if you come across content on Tumblr that doesn’t appear to be appropriately labeled, please let us know. This is how we’ll work together to create safer spaces for everyone on Tumblr, whatever their interests and needs. 

We hope this shift creates more room for artistic expression to flourish on Tumblr while empowering each of you to craft your own experience and safely explore and discover the things you love.

( wanting to come back, but worried that because I've been gone so long that no one would care & that people might be justifiably pissed at my absence. not sure which is worse. my anxiety hasn't been kind lately, along with a general inability to complete anything. I have at least six personal projects in progress, but with a 3× week commute, I'm just so tired of everything lately. it feels like I'm headed for some breaking point. )
