Feeling depressed lately and fighting suicidal ideation and self harm. Wishing it wasn’t so hard to find images of self harm to quiet my brain but also thankful they aren’t easy to find.

The RCMP are setting up exclusion zones and closed roads to the public and media as officers get set to dismantle two camps on unceded Wet’suwet’en territory.
“During the police enforcement operation, temporary exclusion zones and road closures will be established for police and public safety reasons,” said the news release sent out Monday morning that confirmed the RCMP will enforce a court order requested by a pipeline company trying to build a pipeline through Wet’suwet’en territory.
“Those areas will be clearly marked and media/public are welcome to stand at the perimeter, but no one will be allowed to enter the exclusion zones. These zones will only be maintained as long as necessary.”
See full statement here: What to expect during the police enforcement of court ordered injunction in Houston, BC
The raids have been highly anticipated after a B.C. judge granted an interim injunction in December against two check points leading to the construction site for the LNG Coastal GasLink pipeline.

Alcohol.
**Sorry for these awkward emojis that entered themselves without my permission. h.e.a.r.t is the heart. s.l.e.e.p. is sleep. h.a.n.d. is hand. s.e.e is see. a.s.l.e.e.p is asleep.
Tumblr, stop the crap we do not need you replacing words with emojis. I typed words for a REASON.
Some fun about alcohol. You do not have to be an alcoholic, science has shown us that binge drinking, even if it is just once or twice a week, has the same effects on the body and brain.
Brains: If you drink heavily for a long time OR binge drink you are slowly changing you brain. It effects how your brain works, remembers, thinks and learns. Over time the outer parts of the brain will atrophy, or die. What parts of my brain are effected? Is something you may ask. All of it, including the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. This kind of damage to the brain can cause alcohol related dementia. I have seen it first hand as a first responder.
GI Tract: Your small intestine and colon are quite unhappy after a night of drinking, this is due to the alcohol throwing off the normal speed that food moves through the body. Why heartburn? It is due to the muscle that keeps acid out of your esophagus becoming too relaxed. Both can become long term issues.
Stomach: Drinking irritates the stomach lining, increasing production of stomach juices. When enough builds up, it can cause you to vomit. Long term drinking can cause sores and ulcers on the stomach lining. High levels of stomach juices turn off your hunger switch (the hormone Ghrelin). This is one reason why heavy or long term drinkers do not get the nutrients they need over time for their bodies to thrive.
Heart: Ever feel a bit off after a night of drinking? All that alcohol effects the hearts electrical signals. These signals keep your heart steady and beating correctly. Over time this can cause the heart muscles to drop and stretch like a rubber band. This effects how your blood pumps and in turn, your entire body. Every bit of it.
Sleep: When you have fallen asleep after drinking your brain beings slow delta waves, restorative sleep. However, alpha waves are present in the brain simultaneously. These alpha waves usually occur when we are resting quietly, but awake. These sort of wrestle one another and prevent proper REM sleep and cycling through the sleep stages properly. REM sleep, while not physically restorative, is quite important for other reasons. REM sleep is essential for memory related processes. In acquisition of learned material and procedural memory. This means that the following day you may have issues remembering many things, due to the consolidation of these memories into LTM (long term memory) never occurred due to disrupted sleep patterns.
Pancreas: Normally this organ helps break down foods you have eaten via producing chemicals and insulin. Alcohol interrupts this process and can cause inflammation in the pancreas. This is because these chemicals stay in the pancreas when alcohol is involved instead of being released. This can cause damage, and over time it can effect how well your pancreas is working to make the insulin you need.
Kidneys: Your brain, when functioning normally, gives off a hormone that keeps your kidneys from making too much urine. Alcohol disrupts this process, making you feel the need to go more often. This can lead directly to dehydration.
Liver: Your liver is responsible for breaking down all of the alcohol your body ingests. During that process it deals with a lot of toxins. Over time the organ gets fatty which restricts blood flow to the liver. This allows thicker fibrous tissue to form, slowly killing off the liver. Additionally, if you are a active alcoholic you are not eligible for a transplant unless you are committed to never drinking again and are willing to get a full health panel to see if other health issues will cause any further risk to a transplant.
There are plenty more health risks I could go on and on about here. I have an occasional drink but I no longer drink heavily or binge drink (the consumption of an excessive amount of alcohol in a short period of time). It is not worth my time and it is DEFINITELY  not worth my brain or my body.
