We've not only taken away all of the physical spaces for our children to exist in, we're now taking away the electronic ones as well. I'm sure this won't have any negative consequences.

We live in the dumbest, lamest cyberpunk dystopia possible.
So LA has been â and continues to â protest against ICE. These protests havenât gotten any smaller or lost any momentum, but social media wasnât reflecting it.
TikTok users, realizing that the platform/other social media are censoring/deleting/shadowbanning these protest videos, decided to find a workaround.
Theyâre calling it the LA Music Festival. Ice detention centers and other protest locations are âstages.â The hottest band is Rage Against the Machine. âHereâs what gear you should be bringing to stay safe at the LA Music Festival.â
And it fucking worked.
TikTok has become a proving ground for a lot of new music, meaning lots of labels and organizations have lucrative deals with TikTok to promote their new artists and music festivals. So they absolutely cannot censor the words âmusic festivalâ or train the algorithm to ignore it, or they risk endangering that very important revenue.
So now protest videos are flooding feeds again, but itâs the LA 24/7 Music Festival. Truly an incredible timeline weâve landed in.

The dynamic between the four leads in revenged love is so interesting because itâs genuinely very accurate to queer culture. And I mean this in a very hyper specific way
Right after the 70s, when homosexuality formally became outlawed in most places, queer people finally began having an outlet to express themselves, we could be gay in public and not be killed for it. That meant something. But at the same time, the social stigma remained. The âBury your gaysâ trope and âgay villainâ archetypes dictated the ways we could be seen by society and exist in it. There wasnât a space for us. In many countries, there still isnât a space for us today.
So where does this leave us? What do a bunch of outcasts do? They create their own family. Queer people have historically created their own groups, little families they share both platonic and romantic bonds with. Itâs not quite the same as a blood related family, you wonât really kiss your actual brother (hopefully) but itâs close enough. Itâs who we are. Itâs what we have. Itâs us.
Thatâs what the dynamic in revenged love reminds me off. Guo Chengyuâs parents wanted a daughter and struggle with accepting him. Chi Cheng parents canât deal with his sexuality. Wu Suoweiâs parents never got a chance to love the truest version of him. Jiang Xiaoshuaiâs parents arenât even relevant enough in his daily life to be mentioned.
Maybe all four of them really love their families and are loved back in equal amounts but it doesnât change the fact that within their family, in the traditional form, none of them quite belong.
Therefore, they do what queer people have done for generations and create this weird queer platonic friendship with each other that edges on all sorts of connotations because they can.
Itâs who they are. Itâs them. Itâs a dynamic thatâs fit only for them and theyâve created it for themselves. The ultimate queer experience.
So Iâm not saying all gay people have sex with each other or reintroducing the stereotype that all LGBTQ folk are hyper sexual. But what I am saying is in a world which doesnât allow us to explore love on our terms, we have always created a world of our own to explore. Love isnât just sexual, romantic or platonic for us. Itâs how we choose to define it. Itâs how the four of them choose to define it.
Side note: Anyone who finds Chi Cheng and Guo Chengyu kissing weird should look at my totally platonic relationship with my best friend when the two of us were at the peak of our sexuality exploration because holy shit did we make these two look normal. The gays are weird. Donât judge us.

i think one of the most important things you learn about making connections with others is that a significant portion of the time people just do not know theyre doing what theyre doing

Having seen some births now i can say that dog birth is amazing cos they just slip n slide out one after the other like a little conveyor belt. And theyre so little and unformed. And then UNGULATE BIRTHS ... are amazing for the opposite reason which is that 10mins after being born they are filing their taxes. Unless they are goats, in which case they are committing tax fraud instead

The idea that rural communities wouldn't benefit from public transit of some form is so fucking stupid. There was a guy in my hometown who would hitch hike 15 miles to the grocery store because he was blind that everyone knew and knew to offer rides to if they saw him. You know what else would have fixed this, been more efficient, and helped other disabled people, seniors, and people whose cars got repoed?
A fucking bus.

bad guy: *lowering me into a pit of piranhas*
me: just so you know that pool is not big enough for them at all and they also don't have any foliage to hide within in order to feel safe and by the way you obviously haven't been feeding them enough if they're ready to rend the flesh from my bone, the water looks scummy, and your pulley system looks extremely unsafe and none of your goons are wearing PPE despite the jagged spikes and open leaky pipes and-
bad guy: *frantically lowering the crank faster* please just die

I think we should all have aging goals. Like I'm pretty sure I'd have a lot more anxiety about getting older, if, ten or so years ago, I hadn't encountered this photo:

(source) ...and been steering by it as my North Star ever since
Do yourself a favor and browse Advanced Style or collect pictures of old dyke lumberjacks or something. Anything. We should all be so lucky as to get gray and wrinkly and laughing at the impotent grasp of the anti-aging industrial complex

Unrelated, Best Boy Hank Green made a cute, no subscription, not invasive and full of malwares app.
It's a cute lil app that helps you step away from your phone and leave it alone for a time you set, to stay away from distraction. If you pick up the phone, the knitting lil bean loses all of his knitting... So if you say "I'm setting down my phone for half an hour so I can efficiently clean the table and bag up the trash" it helps resisting the call of the screen. Because you can't make the bean sad. The bean is too cute.
