endermite anon here i mostly like the idea as a concept and haven't really done further thought on it, i like the idea of endermite, the ends version of vermin, bugs, pests yknow + skizz

i just imagine how unassuming he looks, no one would look at this 6 ft man and think tiny purple pest but also it's incredibly funny to think of him going "hey hommeh buddeh!" before getting mauled by every enderman in a 20 mile radius

endermites are just such little buggy guys that sometimes get thrown in mobfarms and id throw skizz in a mobfarm i think

id probably have more thoughts if i wasnt writing this at 2 am but yknow cant win them all, have a wonderful night or day

You’ve been alluding to making a Pearl gender post, what are the thoughts you’ve been keeping for their own post?

ok first off i love how you used they/them for pearl. awesome. i'll be using she/her bc i don't think anything i'm about to say is necessarily exclusive from womanhood, but you can definitely take it to mean otherwise.

so in this post i mentioned characters who are victims of gender, and pearl was the main one i had in mind as belonging to that category. in double life, she experienced such a clearly gendered ostracization—she was a cackling witch, a crazy dog lady, a madwoman. she tried to embody the persona that everyone was thrusting upon her as a defense mechanism, but it didn't bring her fulfillment, because it's not a choice she would have made naturally. it's a front she puts up and spends season after season telling herself that she enjoys, because the only thing she can think to do is attempt to reclaim it. as i've said over and over and over, pearl internalizes what people think about her. pearl embodies what people say about her. if you take away all of that, what's left underneath?

let's take a look at pearl's skins over the years. past life has been a great opportunity to get the gears turning here. what's pearl's comfort zone? what, in her mind, is the default way she likes to present herself?

so the fundamentals of pearl's dysphoria hoodie default skin haven't changed much over the years, with the exception of that very first skin, which isn't any more feminine than the others. this is a very gender-neutral look. her red skin is just another recolored variation—she's still wearing the same hoodie as always. interestingly enough, most fanart that depicts scarlet pearl has her in a red riding hood-esque cloak, an interpretation which, perhaps unintentionally, is more feminized than how she exists in canon.

hell, the name scarlet pearl is itself a feminized title—why doesn't she just get to be red like everyone else? it's interesting, considering the way pearl herself usually calls this persona 5am pearl, seeming to prefer this title to scarlet pearl. "5am pearl" offers a more sympathetic look at the events of double life, offering a clear explanation to pearl's supposed crazy and erratic behavior, rather than a name with...dubious influences, to say the least.

pearl's repeated attempts at reclamation of the heavily gendered identity that people have constructed for her have never fixed the problem. she will not escape this labyrinth by playing the role that is expected of her. it's clear from her default skins over the years that she's not an overly feminine person, that her comfort zone is a plain, concealing outfit (i mean this literally, her hood is always up).

also, tangentially related, in recent seasons pearl chooses to play dress-up with very gender-neutral outfits. this hasn't always been the case, but the skins she's spent the most time in for these past few years have all been very neutral in presentation. the only thing that reads as "feminine" with any of these is the length and style of her hair. which could mean nothing.

my point here is that many people, both on the server and in the fandom, project a level of femininity onto pearl that she herself has never displayed organically. you can make whatever you want of this information! just know that in those "every friend group got" memes, pearl belongs in "transgender allegory" and that's final.

my dear gumy i would love to hear ur ideas on the canary curse, because to me it feels as if people are shoving it down our throats, when it hasnt even been a sure thing in the last few life series. he hasnt escaped a curse he just got better at the game, and even viewing it as a curse, he still broke free of it.

idk i just have been seeing a lot of people pushing the canary curse and making tango’s death about jimmy

at this point we just kill those guys i think. it’s been nearly as many seasons of him not dying first as there were for the canary curse to begin with. also to be honest it’s been a while now of me not liking the curse narrative at all. i feel like it’s more interesting when he’s a guy who’s unlucky and has self-defeating tendencies than a guy who dies first because he’s cursed by Evil Purple Angels.
