KIM JIHO / 18 / FRESHMAN BADMINTON / GRAPHIC DESIGN
BIOGRAPHY …
Being in someone’s shadow is never usually as cold as most media platforms perceive it. It is merely a void of empty feelings and self-doubt. To think what could it be that you don’t gain the same amount of care. It doesn’t feel cold, but you do feel warmth. At least Jiho felt that warmth when she could feel the frustration boiling at her being, the anger of unanswered questions. How could he stand there, upon a pedestal of love and care while she’s left to shatter and rot at in the darkness. She wanted to express her brilliant mind as well but she wasn’t a master of math, she wasn’t in the pursuit of history and barely could remember anything that didn’t interest her. She felt as if she had hit a brick wall and had no means to escape this fortress of self-destruction.
For years her hatred had boiled up to a breaking point. So she removed herself from the picture, ran away from home at only the age of 14. It wasn’t something major in reality, she didn’t have a proper location to stay at and with a backpack filled with a handful of clothing, she believed that staying within a local playground was a suitable shelter to remain at until she could land herself a place that had the proper necessities of survival. She didn’t expect him to come looking for her. Kim Namjoon, her older brother, frantic breathes and a pale face matched his messy pajamas. Slippers muddled with dirt showed his desperation to find her. In the darkness of the night, she could feel a new sense of warmth upon her cheeks. The tears falling down her face had made her realize her own mistake and for the night in the cold winter breeze, the two finally were able to talk as equals.
The days became bearable, and finally she was able to see the world from his perspective. Despite hiding in the shadows, she was free to choose as she pleased. In the end, nobody would care for her future occupation. She could easily ignore her mother’s suggestion to marry rich and follow along her own path. A path in which various colors and hues would be painted along the roads. The vibrant tones that blend into each other, a world that can digitally create a new sense of identity. Graphic design was something that would’ve been shunned upon in her house hold but in the end she was determined to prove everyone wrong. One day soon changed this mentality.
While walking back home with her older brother from his fencing practice, she had heard an unfamiliar noise. Following her ear, she managed to step foot upon a court to see two players playing a game that is unfamiliar to her. It wasn’t exactly tennis but with the passion each player was giving, something within her began to spike. A rush of excitement began to build as both players were neck and neck with each other, the tension of who would win loomed over the two but Jiho felt as if she were on the edge of her toes in anticipation. She wanted to experience this feeling again after that day, but she wanted to be within the action. There was that hesitation that built up in the back of her mind. What if she had failed to fulfill that expectation that was already set in her mind? What if she couldn’t rekindle that flame?
With a little shove from her supportive brother, she was able to try out a sport she had grown to love. Jiho had felt herself change the more she trained and participated in singles matches for her school’s team. Even when her brother had gone off to college, he provided the encouraging words needed for her to continue on with her dreams. Her heart grew softer as she was slowly understanding the world around her through various medias of not only art, but in the world of sports. She had hoped that maybe in the future she could hope to inspire someone enough in the way that her mind had jolted awake in this world. Following in her brother’s footsteps, Jiho had wanted to try out this sports scholarship alternative, considering her parents wouldn’t be pleased to hear that she wanted to do graphic design for a future occupation. With a new resolve in mind, she plans on tackling the biggest obstacle of all, the first year of college.

“watch out!”
“what--” SMASH!
“oh no! the letters!”
Those pesky Cupids! In the midst of the rush, they’ve gotten all of the letters mixed up. With the Valentine’s Day Dance approaching, the Cupids have no choice but to simply deliver the letters at random. Surely not all of the letters had fallen out of their envelopes? Thankfully, some were left in tact, but for those that had not... well, now students will have to deal with the consequence sat the dance as the person of their dreams turns out to be... someone they hadn’t expected at all. Will these romantics be reunited with their loved ones, or will they find themselves inclined to spend their valentine’s night with their unanticipated companion?
Lord, what fools these mortals be!
WELCOME TO PART TWO OF TAESAN KRP’S FIRST EVENT!
That’s right, the letters have been mixed up! Some Taesan students were lucky to have their letters delivered to the right person, but your muses weren’t part of that batch. I am very sorry for your loss. We tried to send them out to as many people as we could, but there wasn’t enough letters to cover the entirety of the directory. Nevertheless, you are definitely encouraged to participate in the event.
THE RULES:
This event will last for two weeks, from February 25, 2017 to March 11th, 2017. It’s past the Valentine’s Day feeling, we know. Sorry about that!
Threads involved in the event should be tagged as tsn: event and tsn: cupid.
The theme of the dance is, if you’ve forgotten, a costume party.
Recipients of the letter are allowed to reject the offer. As stated before, in character, this rejection is carried out by bringing the sender’s initial letter and a rejection note to the delivery service in the Students Association office. You, the mun, don’t really have to write this part out in paragraphs. It’s enough if you just reply to the submitted letter with something as simple as: Bottom was not interested, and so Bottom said ‘no’.
Those who did not receive a letter, did not send one, or got rejected are still allowed to attend the dance! If your muse was smart enough to actually ask their loved one in person, they’ve made the right decision. Oops.
Officially, alcohol (and drugs!) is prohibited at the dance. However... it seems like... someone spiked the punch? Within the roleplay, canonically, the dance will end at midnight. However, shawty, they can party all night til’ the sun down.
There aren’t too many restrictions here. It’s a dance. Have fun, kids!
THE PAIRINGS:

KIM SOWON / 20 / SOPHOMORE VOLLEYBALL / GENERAL SCIENCE
BIOGRAPHY ...
the youngest of three, kim sowon always seemed to fall behind. no matter how hard she tried to keep up, desperate to receive the same recognition as her older siblings in their respective fields, she constantly found herself falling one step, two steps behind the rest. she either disliked the activities she was signed up for, despising the frilly outfits worn during ballet, or was simply unable to live up to the high standards set by her peers, regularly chastised for missing the ball during tennis practice, prompting her to leave ASAP.
the cycle was the same: take up a sport, stick with it for two weeks, then quit. lather, rinse, repeat.
it was only during a family holiday did sowon discover where her true talents lie. the fluorescent pink volleyball was simply handed over to her to help overcome the boredom, but she somehow felt at ease throwing the ball over the net, imitating the moves she saw on television. the volleyball never left her side, even upon arriving home, pushing her father to sign her up for lessons at the nearest sports centre. there was a shared hope this would be the one; the sport to give sowon the enjoyment she’d been looking for, to help find her place within the family. and fortunately, it was.
if she wasn’t studying, she was practicing until her mother called her inside, and if she wasn’t suffering through chores alongside her siblings, she was sacrificing sleep to analyse olympic matches, scribbling down tactics for future reference. volleyball was now an integral part of her life. this sport was sowon’s, and there was absolutely no way she’d let it slip by. her determination didn’t go unnoticed; the coach vowing to transform the wide eyed middle school student into the best setter the nation has ever seen.
before long, sowon garnered attention for her abilities. throughout her high school years, her name was a hot topic amongst the volleyball community, with many speculating she’d eventually land a spot on the international stage due to her hard work ethic and powerful serve. it was this very high expectation that thrust the youngster into the spotlight. rather than bearing the weight of her studies, she was responsible in ensuring she could be as great as others wanted her to be.
yet it was also during high school that sowon was a hot topic for all the wrong reasons. perhaps it was the pressure to be the best that made her an absolute pain to work with. under her captaincy, fellow teammates complained about her controlling behaviour and perfectionist nature; not to mention the gruelling practices she subjected them to in the lead up to competitions. they might’ve emerged victorious, but it was overshadowed by sowon’s desire to win, regardless of the effect on others.
has she changed since then? yes, no, maybe. upon entering university, sowon promised to reassess her behaviour and learn the concept of teamwork. it was clear something needed to change if she intended on becoming a force to be reckoned with, although time will tell if she manages to go through with it or if she seeks comfort in reverting to her old ways.

PARK CHORONG / 20 / JUNIOR FIGURE SKATING / SPORTS MANAGEMENT
BIOGRAPHY ...
“chorong-ah, what do you want to be when you’re all grown up?”
at five years old, she doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up. she hardly knows what she wants to eat for breakfast tomorrow, let alone what she wants to become ten, twenty years down the road.
at eight years old, she first comes in contact with the sport of figure skating. she sees the elegant figures on the television screen as she waits for her mother to finish cooking. eight year old chorong has no clue what’s going on within the four walls of the screen, nor does she have any idea that a few years down the road, she would become what she sees on screen.
“chorong-ah, are you sure this is what you want to do?“
at ten years old, she’s more sure than ever that figure skating is something she’s interested in. she doesn’t care for going out with friends or watching the latest show on television, all she wants to do is learn how to skate, to learn how to be the grace on ice that she has seen so many times.
at fourteen years old, she tries to balance both her school work and her hobby of figure skating. she attends lessons regularly and her instructor sees something in her that he hasn’t seen in a pupil in a long time.
“chorong-ah, have you ever thought about the olympics?”
at fifteen, the question stuns her. she’s thought about the olympics multiple times, it serves as a motivator for her to work harder, for her to achieve her dream; but she doesn’t think she can do it. not until her instructor turned full-time coach brings up the possibility.
at eighteen, she has spent the last three years training and attending competitions. her perfectionist attitude and her hard-working antics have gotten her gold and silver medals, but nothing will beat the happiness she feels upon receiving her kyungyi acceptance letter. finally, she can head towards her dream of becoming an olympic figure skater representing korea.
“chorong-ah, lighten up, will you?”
at twenty, she has earned herself the nickname of ‘ice princess’ on campus. it’s fitting with the sport she does but also with her attitude and constant appearance. park chorong isn’t one to care for most others, she only ever cares about her sport and those closest to her. she doesn’t mind the nickname, nor does she mind the comments behind her back. they merely serve as a motivator to work harder in her eyes.
PERSONALITY PROFILE ...
( + ) calm, hard-working, logical ( - ) arrogant, perfectionist, stubborn

Congratulations, [ KIM, JONGDAE ]! You have been selected for admission to Taesan Sports University’s [ THEATRE] program. Upon review of your application, [ KYUNGYI COLLEGE OF MARTIAL ARTS & TECHNICAL ATHLETICS ] has determined that you are a Taesan Athletic Scholar for [ MOUNTAIN BIKING ].

KIM JONGDAE / 22 / SENIOR MOUNTAIN BIKING / THEATRE
BIOGRAPHY …
It might be hard to believe when you see him now, but Jongdae has not always loved bikes. When his father proudly showed him the bike he had gotten him for his third anniversary, toddler Jongdae had cried and refused to go anywhere near it. To this day, no one knows (himself included) what had caused him to be so scared back then. Thankfully, his father didn’t despair. Instead of putting the bike away in the garage to be forgotten, he brought Jongdae to the bike every day so the toddler could get used to it and see that it was not dangerous and was not going to harm him. At first, Jongdae cried and hid his face against his father’s leg, but thanks to his father’s patience, he eventually agreed to touch the handlebar, then the saddle and eventually the three wheels. Eventually, maybe out of curiosity, Jongdae had agreed to be placed on the bike. He had gripped the handles strongly, afraid that he would be tipping over (he was too young to understand that the 2 wheels in the back were making the whole thing more stable). His father had placed Jongdae’s feet on the pedals and told him to push. The bike moved and as expected, Jongdae ended up crying again while his father was laughing and trying to assure him that he was okay and to keep moving his legs.
Needless to say, his father (and his mother) love to bring up that memory whenever someone asks them when Jongdae started getting into cycling. For the longest time, Jongdae was more interested in skateboarding rather than cycling. He used to play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on Playstation as well as the next installments. He even asked for a skateboard one Christmas and got it. He started practicing tricks in the driveway and eventually dared to take his skills to a skate park. There, he rapidly realized that the skills he thought he had were nothing compared to what the older kids could do. But the skate park wasn’t just used by skateboarders. There were roller-bladers too, and teenagers who were doing tricks with their bikes. He had always seen cycling as something that people were doing because a bike was less expensive than a car and it was useful to go from place to another. He had not known that it was possible to do tricks with one! He had long overcome his irrational fear of bikes and even had one that he was using to go to school, but he couldn’t believe that it could be used for something dangerous.
It didn’t take long for him to realize that his bike was different from the ones used by the older kids at the skate park. Theirs were smaller and looked lighter. Jongdae, who had never been afraid to approach people, had easily walked up to the older kids and started asking them questions. They didn’t welcome him with open arms. They made fun of him and told him to go back to playing with his skateboard, but Jongdae didn’t give up and eventually the teenagers realized that he was serious and agreed to share their knowledge with him.
This newfound interest caused Jongdae many broken bones and a lot of chafed knees, but there was something too exciting about it for him to stop. In high school, his family went on a camping trip in Canada during the summer and that’s when Jongdae discovered mountain biking. It might be surprising to hear that he had never actually seen mountain biking in all the years he had watched the summer Olympics, but the reason behind that was that the only sports he liked to watch were beach volleyball and diving so he had never paid much attention to the other disciplines.
Members of the Olympic Canadian team had decided to come to that mountain for training and it just so happened that this is also where Jongdae’s family as camping. That day, he saw a group of people going down a steep hill super fast and sending dirt flying everywhere, then shooting in the air and falling back on a surface that was definitely not flat and therefore automatically dangerous. Jongdae was sold.

BIOGRAPHY ...
i. your mother is a figure skater who had her dreams restrained and wanting to prove her parents—she had practiced her whole life to impress them so she could get her way. unfortunately an accident happen that rendered one of her legs useless and made it impossible for her to figure skate ever again.
in a state of depression—she had almost taken her own life. not until she had found herself caught in a one night stand that had miraculously given her the chance to become pregnant.
an unlikely but possible luck that had led to a return of light and life in her eyes.
the child she gave birth was you. but to her—you were more than her mere child. you were going to be her second chance in life.
ii. your purpose in life was to be your mother. you must become the one to achieve her goals and excel in what she had failed. you will be her dreams come true.
you live for her and you were her puppet in life. you are the only reason she lives to this day and she is the only reason you existed.
you are her and she is you and you are locked and chained to those beliefs.
iii. do it right. do not fail. be like what she could have been. once you were old enough you were taught to skate on ice. you were shown how to gracefully skate with the help of professional supervision and your mother.
your mother was strict and harsh. if you get it wrong by a mere hair’s breadth—you were to be punished. no meal, no tv, grounded for a period of time depending on her mood but always forced to skate and never stop. you were thrust into a world that you could not help but hate. the spite was fueled by your mother’s insistence and the numerous fails that resulted into your suffering. when you succeeded—it was not perfect and never will be perfect enough for her.
you drown in her broken dreams as you were forced to fix the shattered pieces for her. you became everything she wished to be. you will be popular and social and bright. you will be the one to achieve gold medals and become a figure skater with no obstructions.
you will be everything that she wasn’t.
iv. you put on the smile and greet people. you laugh along and genuinely enjoyed your time with others. but you were limited—you must not trust them too much and believe that they will support you through everything. you must always have that line drawn and will never prioritize anyone—except your mother—over figure skating.
figure skating will always come first. nothing else. you must excel and impress others with hard-earned skills. you must perform perfectly.
in the end everything yo did would always be for figure skating—for your mother.
v. you are heading to taesan. you will be accepted for if you were not—you will achieve one of the biggest failures of your life. failure was something you could not afford—unless, you wished to become an utter disappointment.
but of course, you did not fail. and you have yet to fail. you were the impressive figure skater who worked so hard to achieve perfection. you were the social butterfly that knew many other students and left good impressions. you were what your mother wanted you to be.
you were built to be akin to your mother. you are filled with hatred and spite at this life of your’s and envy towards all those that had freedom which you did not have. you are not you—and that was the one thing which you were most disappointed about yourself.
PERSONALITY PROFILE ...
( + ) social butterfly, felicific, loquacious ( - ) pedantic, circumspect, acquiscent

“O me, you juggler, you canker-blossom, you thief of love!”
Love is in the air! As Valentine’s Day approaches, the Students Association have decided to open a fun, familiar romantic service for their fellow classmates: delivering love letters. Up until five years ago, delivering love letters and enabling secret admirers were annual Valentine’s Day ministrations for the Students Association. The administrative board eventually put an end to it when a certain student decided to include a lock of hair and a sock in their package. (Yikes!) However, now that the Students Association has received approval from administration to revive the tradition, love notes have been flying throughout the campus of the three Taesan institutes. The Students Association are diligent little cupids fluttering through the campus in a mad rush to make their deliveries before the fateful Valentine’s Day dance. Although there are many souls brave enough to ask the apple of their eye to the dance, the Cupid’s Delivery Service is a popular and fun way to confess affections and snag a date for the Taesan student body. And the best part of it? It’s free.
WELCOME TO TAESAN KRP’S FIRST EVENT!
Initially, we wanted our first event to be sports related. However, Valentine’s Day only comes once a year and we had a few members asking for a Valentine’s Day themed one, so I managed to cook something up for it. Sorry it’s a bit late, but I hope you guys enjoy it! (This is Admin Alex, by the way.) This is indeed a two-part event. The first part will last one week, while the second part of the event--the dance itself--will last two weeks. We will announce the second part later.
THE RULES:
This event will last for one week. It will begin February 14, 2017 to February 21, 2017. Admissions to the Cupid’s Delivery Service blog will be closed after the 21st, but any threads created during the duration of this event can continue past the 21st.
Members must send their love letters through this blog right HERE.
If you’re writing out a thread or solo for this event specifically, please tag your posts with tsn: event and tsn: cupid.
Love letters must:
Include the name of intended recipient in OOC in the ‘title’ part of the submit box. In character, it will be on the envelope of the letter. Do not include it in the body of the letter!
Not include the name of the sender. We gotta keep an air of mystery here! Love is blind!
Usually, not always but usually, the sender is writing to the recipient to ask them to the Valentine’s Day dance.
This year’s Valentine’s Day dance is a costume party. In the letter, the sender should include a description or defining characteristic of the sender’s costume to let the recipient know what they are wearing. (I.E. “I’ll be wearing a Tuxedo Mask cosplay.”) Although not required, the sender can suggest for the recipient to wear something distinctive. (”As such, please wear a Sailor Moon costume.”)
The sender has a right to reject the offer. In which case, your muse can say no thanks. In character, this rejection is carried out by bringing the sender’s initial letter and a rejection note to the delivery service in the Students Association office. You, the mun, don’t really have to write this part out. It’s enough if you just write out something as simple as: Bottom was not interested, and so Bottom said ‘no’
The Cupids will deliver the love letters with great care! Just know that they’re a bit overwhelmed and there might be... a surprise. (:
Enjoy!
